The chair was sitting on the creek bank, no one around, not near anyone's home or camp. I think it was put there just for me!

Thank you for posting this, Jeff. It evokes so many different emotions, from appreciation for your son's service and sacrifice, to sadness for your loss, to...I never know what to say... so imagine a big old fat guy giving you a hug.

Also carrying the Small Tinker I had on me when I was a young Marine on the island of Iwo Jima. When I was stationed on the East coast I rented a room in a farmhouse just south of Gettysburg. The owner was a Marine who had landed on Iwo Jima. I spent many afternoons on the porch as he would tell a few stories. He didn’t talk about it much but if he did I was all ears.

What is the center knife? I think a CKRT (it was posted a while back ?), but I can't find it on any of my dealer sites. I'd like to find one, a classy looking knife IMHO. Thanks.

Yes. Isn't it snazzy? It's a Northcliffe by CRKT, a "Jernigan Design". It also says 7490 on the tang.

It's a liner lock with the tab flush with the frame.

I think they're discontinued.
My brother gave me this one, for no reason. He's more about clocks than knives.

Thanks for the info. Just my luck; another dc-ed knife I'll never see.
My two favs are the CRKT M04-02W and the CRKT Cautro.
The M04 I like the barlow style in a (now) TS/LL (I deactivated, reground the blade back flat and redid the edge to about 15-17 degrees) and the Cautro just for it's clean, slim lines.
Do wish CRKT would up their steels. Not in love with CRKT, but they have made some nice knives.
