What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

My favorite KC BBQ - which means its my overall favorite since everybody knows KC has the best barbecue 😁

I saw a story Friday on a local St. Louis station trying to claim they have better BBQ than KC. The mayor of KC wasn’t very happy with that claim! 🤣
I lean towards St. Louis BBQ naturally, but honestly I don’t notice much of a difference at all. It’s odd how people in KC has an STL complex when by in large the people in STL don’t put much time into it except for a certain umpire from 1985. You’d think there would solidarity against that vinegar stuff they serve in the south East.

The arts and entertainment section of the Sunday Chronicle is called the ”Pink Section”. Hidden on the front page is an image of the “Little Man” Who is used by movie reviewers to rate new movies. See if you can find him. Neither knife is covering him and I’ll include a key to what he looks like. Some days it’s hard to find, today‘s difficulty is medium.

I grew up in the Bay Area reading the pink section. I never knew the little man was hidden on the front page every week. I can’t find him on that one. Maybe that’s why I never knew. 😁

Hope you are all having a peaceful Sunday.

Eastern or Lexington style?

Well, the tree guys came and trimmed/drastically thinned our tree. Had too much dead stuff in it and it needed taming.

Modoc ED Modoc ED ... You live in a beautiful setting Ed !!! ... I have a fence like yours but yours looks pretty new. I've had garden posts in my chain-link for about 10yrs
I had to add garden posts and fencing to the chain-link because my dog would jump over the 4ft chain-link and I needed something 6ft tall
The thing is, where I tied garden posts to the chain-link posts, the metals DO NOT like each other and led to post "rot" alone that line
Along another line, I had to put the garden posts between the chain-link posts, so the posts are 4ft apart and get along just fine
Vines are taking over that one line and sorta help to hold the line up, but the writing is on the wall and I will be taking it all down within the next year or so
Your soil ph and climate and such are different from mine and there are different grades and manufacturers of post, so your experience may be different
Just something to maybe watch out for.

Apologies in advance as there will be a lot of pictures of this Moran, it's kind of taking over the pocket, rightfully.
I'm gonna have to weigh in on the KC BBQ issue, as I live here. Gates is for the tourists. Arthur Bryant's or L.C.'s for my money! Best barbeque in the world right here in the 'hood. Now I'm hungry for burnt ends darnit...

I’ve not heard of a Lexington style, so I’ll go with eastern, like you typically find in South Carolina for example.
You see. South Carolina is a whole nother animal. Eastern and Lexington styles are North Carolina. South Carolina has four styles including mustard, vinegar, light and heavy tomato. There's a lot of good stuff going on down here.😉

The guy is coming to top our tree and I'm switching from the Buck 112 Light I carried yesterday to prep for him to this full on like an anchor/tank Buck 112. It's a relatively new one so this'll be a great break-in chore for it. Sausage and waffles for breakfast.

That’s a pretty one. Nice colors. Interesting chunk of rock too.

Thanks Jack! That pen is in the queue, but I'm not exactly looking forward to it😂

Come on, surely it must be easier to engrave something small and round than something big and flat? 😁

I’m glad to see the sodbuster getting used, Barrett.

And I’m glad to use it. Thanks again for the mod!:thumbsup:

Honestly, I’ve never understood all the bickering over BBQ styles. I’ve had a lot of ‘em, and they’re all pretty good to me. 😁 (That’s not to say I haven’t had bad BBQ, but that usually comes down to it being poorly executed, not something inherently wrong with a certain style.)

Ha! I’ve heard that before, and it’s fair. I mean, the times I’ve eaten at Gates were always driving through KC, usually with a friend and his dad (who was from the area) on our way from Arkansas to Minnesota for an annual summer fishing trip. You won’t convince me that Gates’ Extra Hot sauce isn’t fantastic, though. 😉😁

Today we headed over to Back Channel Brewing, a local brewery just down the road from us. They were having a princess event for the kids, which the girls loved, and there was beer and pizza, so I couldn’t really complain. I still had the #71 “Sacto Special” and stag HHB with me.

After a while it started raining (which was not in the forecast). Thankfully we had finished eating and took cover under an awning, while Eleanor had a grand time running around in the rain with some other kids.
