I like this pair, Mitch. Straightforward, and useful.

I'd have used something longer for a 3-footer.
All we have are massassaugas, and they're supposed to have killed only one old man who used to like to kill them by grabbing their tails and snapping them like a whip. (The last one he snapped the wrong way.)
I believe they're endangered, so if I ever see one in my yard, I hope it doesn't die in a softball accident.

Snattle Rake !! Snattle Rake !! errrrrrrrrr Rattle Snake !! We'd just finished dinnerd and I was at the computer perusing BF while Cindy went out to move the sprinkler in the back yard. She came in abruptly and said I'd better get out in the yard as we had a rattle snake slithering alongside the house. I grabbed my Case Sowbelly off the desk and away I went. No before pictures (I was moving too fast) but here's the after picture. It's a "Great Basin Rattle Snake". They're pretty darn potent and not to be taken lightly. Had a hard time getting the dogs in the house as they were excited. I finished cutting it's head off after I took this picture. It had 4 rattles and a nub and was about three feet long stretched out. Anyway, it's nice to know I can still get a hustle up when it counts. I just hope we don't see (key word see) a six or eight footer. Those are much harder for me to deal with. Actually, that's shotgun time.

No venomous serpents native to this area, but I’ve lived where copperheads and timber rattlers will keep you on your toes.
Around my place, garter snakes are the most common, and given their diet of mice, moles, voles, and chipmunks, I do all I can to encourage them to stick around. The other day, I found a writhing gathering of big fat ones under some cardboard covering a manure pile. Nature is cool.

Just arrived today and I'm impressed, it sure looks like integral bolsters, fantastic fit and finish, centered blade, no play, no gaps, flush closed, half stop and open and steel pins. Came very sharp with great grinds

Thanks for the comments on your Boker, Paul. I've been waiting for one I bought off the BF Exchange to arrive. I wasn't expecting it until Monday. Your post prompted me to check the tracking, only to find out it's in my mailbox!

Black snakes help control our rodent populations around here. I too do all I can to keep them around. The little ones, under 3’, will try to bite you if you get too close but it’s a harmless bite. The larger ones 4’+ are surprisingly docile and you can usually pick them up if they need to be removed from an area, or if you just like to handle them a little before sending them on their way.

I ordered a chicken sandwich with fries. I didn’t realize the fries would be in the sandwich. It felt like I could be eating with Jack Jack Black . I cut it into a more manageable size with my SAK. It was pretty good.

The sunsets are pretty good, too.

LOL! That looks good! I once got them to make me up a 'chip butty' (on pa amb tomàquet), and by the end of the week, all the regulars there were hooked! Primanti Brothers have been doing it since 1933 though!

Ed, I have a “Love/Hate” relationship with snakes…I love to hate them!! I do not not like them at all. sonofwilfred will show me some of the deadly ones that hang out near him. I think it’s his way to keep me from showing up on his doorstep. i was on an Antelope hunt a few years ago in Wyoming and we were seeing several that day, including one that liked the shade of the truck tire. I said it’s time to leave, I don’t need an Antelope that badly today!!
