What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Your dog looks like he’s got a ton of personality. Love the knife, too
Bluey has tons of personality, but borders on "knucklehead" sometimes... and he LOVES people.

Oh No! Back to the grind... beautiful knife to start with though. 🤠
Beautiful Charlie Lamb, Jack. 🤠

Outstanding carry today Gary. 😎👍
Thanks Todd! Choosing a daily carry is much simpler when you know you can change your mind half way through the day. Retired now for 11 years, and I finally figured that out! :p ;)
Thanks a lot Gary, it was pretty crazy for it to be in the 90's still at midnight here! 102 right now, and I'm sitting here like a rose between two fans! 🤣 Hope you're getting some shade yourself my friend :) That's a beautiful pairing, love that Nealy  :)
Thanks Jack!
Just saw on the news it's going to be 106F there today. I can't comprehend 90 at midnight. If it's in the 70s at night here my AC is running.

I have that exact same Prinble Serpentine Jack. It’s nice to see what mine looked like in it’s prime!🤔
Great knife.
Attached is my carry for the last couple of days, and a little elaboration..
I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s and most of my knives I carried were primarily what I considered “weapons” cheap NATO OTF knives, balisongs, pointy/stabby knives, etc. the modern tactical knives had not really come along yet but if they had it would have been right up my alley. Then after I got a little older, and after going into a new phase in my life I realized after some reflection that for me a knife is not really the best choice for self defense (that’s what my concealed carry pistols are for) but a knife is primarily meant to be a “cutting tool”
I know this sounds silly, but it was a realization that I came to that changed my direction and philosophy on knives and set the direction for my collecting that still continues today.
I desired to get a new knife that was designed as a good cutting tool, and one that reminded me of the old Colonial stockman that I had as a kid and lost. So I purchased this Buck 373 back in 2006 (I believe due to the date stamp) and started trying to perfect my sharpening skills etc. while this is a Chinese made Buck, and is really not anything extra special, it is special to me because it was my first of what would become many in my renewed interest and search for good quality effective cutting tool, and I like to think of this one as where my current collection started
I think many of us went through a similar evolution. I still keep a Spyderco Police in my car, and a Buck 119.
My end point came when using a big Buck tactical folder, chosen because it had a half serrated blade. I was down in a trench fixing broken field tile, cutting plastic tile under a foot of muddy water, when the lock failed and the damned thing closed on three of my fingers.
Great all around knife.

Still problems with the hosting of the photos here... 🤷‍♂️
Have a nice day.
Luckily we can see that gorgeous wood!
Going to be another hot one today. Jack Black Jack Black , hope you find a way to keep cool, Jack! That's some brutal heat you are getting.

Carrying my Eureka Jack and a "Little David" from Bud Nealy today. When I bought the Nealy it was partly because my little brother's name is David. It turned out to be a handy and unobtrusive companion.

Gary, I have used much weaker excuses for buying a knife.🤫

Well, I was asleep at the wheel when glennbad glennbad announced his giveaway winners. He had to send me a wake-up call pm.
It came in the mail yesterday, and it will be riding in my little jeans pocket, after I made sure there’s no hole in that pocket!

Schrade Walden 766 re-hafted in really nice stag, finished as one would expect from the master modder. Thank you very much buddy!!!

I might pick one of these cauliflowers for supper.

In honor of Glenn, I am also toting a Camillus TL-29 that I modded after poring (and drooling) over photos of his work with TL-29s. You’re a great inspiration, Glenn, and now I have a fine example in hand on how it’s done.FBC5BFA7-0198-4BC4-956B-4F1A4A7FAF39.jpeg
For general garden work, I have this~B1EDE8D4-BB90-4F66-95E9-5F301BD99899.jpeg

I always think of @ModocEd and his favorite restaurant when I see this wagon wheel.

That’s how I feel in the summer Gary, grab whatever I want whenever I want it. Two more years and I’ll do that all year long. 😉👍

Grabbed these two to start the day.

I agree Ed Modoc ED Modoc ED , it's a very elegant folder, Tony Bose is dearly missed. I was fortunate to have been out his way on business in Champagne IL and called to see if I could stop in for a visit, got to meet him and his wife brought out a couple large glasses of sweet tea as well. tour of his small but well designed layout of his shop. He was very down to earth kind of person and I felt honored to have been able to actually visit and meet up with him.

Couple pages back there was mention of carrying grandpas knife. I don’t have any of my dads knives or my granddads knives. But I do have this little half Congress that was moms. So I am carrying it in my watch pocket today. I miss you Momma.

Here’s the thread about moms knife.

Absolutely beautiful pair of knives Todd, and you always have the best lookin slips too.

I switched to photo booth #2 (the stump) to give y'all a break from the porch rail. Also, I never carried more than 1 knife at a time until I was gifted an edc wallet that holds a knife & lighter. This 14 fits perfect.

Jeff, the green tomato pics has caused me to want a comfort food supper tonight of corn meal breaded and fried green tomatoes, along with fried okra, country or as some call it "chicken" fried bone in pork chops, fresh butter beans, corn bread and iced tea. Real brewed iced tea, not instant. Guess cardiologist needs to be put in alert.

Thanks, Jack! Some time back, I decided to pass on getting in on giveaways because I’ve already benefitted from so much porchly good will and generosity. I want others to get a chance. But I couldn’t pass on a chance to get a glennbad glennbad knife.

It’s hot, but in a short while you’ll miss it.
