Nice shot Bart. 😎👍
Enjoyable story, knife, and produce, Todd!

Thanks Gary, those banana peppers were pretty hot! 🥵
"A copper. A copper! How do ya like that, boys? ... And I fell for it!"

Love that clip Gary. 😊👍

Nice knives Jeremy and that is a great looking grill, yummy! 😋👍
Thanks Todd!! The Mrs marinated the chicken all day so it turned out wonderful.
I really appreciate you sharing your old Camillus, Schrade Cut Co, and Cattaraugus collection, Rob.

I found this Sword Brand EO jack a few years ago to match Grandpa’s knife, which I don’t want to carry.
My Grandpa’s family came from Scotland, and found work in the Eastern Tennesse coal mines. His father was killed in a huge mine disaster in 1906, leaving his Mom to raise three boys and a daughter. She took in washing and other odd jobs, raised a huge garden, and the boys hunted small game and foraged wild plants like watercress, dandelion, huckleberries, etc to survive. At some point, he left home and made his way. I’m not sure when, probably in the ‘20s or ‘30s, he saved up and bought a Camillus Sword Brand Jackknife, which he carried for the rest of his life. I remember sitting on his lap and him letting me handle it. That is the knife with which he showed me how to sharpen a blade.
When he passed, Grandma gave me his knives. His old jack had a lot of sharpening wear, and the secondary spring had broken, but it was HIS knife, and I think he carried it to the end.
This one makes a good user, and brings me good memories.
Used it yesterday in the garden. Cleaned off some plant residue, re-oiled it, and got it again today.View attachment 1873892
That's awesome! I love hearing sentimental history behind knives, thanks for sharing.

Good morning friends! I have the day off today to take the Mrs to the airport so I’m going solo for the weekend with the three little ones; pray for me! 😅

New storage case for all the traditional's. Why are there so many… I think I have a problem!

88 and the 12 today. The smooth bone on the 12 is just beautiful.

Thanks, Jack. I figure that, even though I'm neither great worker nor classy myself, I can at least carry a knife with those qualities.
You're a scholar and a gentleman in my book Gary! :)
I am up early and preparing to get my walk in, as well as some other chores, before the heat sets in. Felt like multi-tasking today, which is rarely the case around here now days. Well, actually I felt more like it yesterday, when I cleaned up my grubby phone and took this picture. I then opted for a nap and put it off until today. I reckon the phone gets more use than my knives do, though I hate to admit that. But not every day. I figure stainless steel is a good choice on these hot and humid days. 😊

Hope you had a nice walk Mr P :)
We’ve got one tomorrow. 😳😁

Thanks, GT! Scout was dressed up as the character Dwight Schrute from the US version of The Office, who, among other unusual hobbies and interests, is a beet farmer.

The stapler-in-Jello was a prank played on Dwight in the show, and was easily the most difficult part of that costume. 🤣 I had to suspend the stapler in the unset Jello using fishing line and a ruler, and I ended up having to do the whole thing three times. The first two times the Jello was too soft, and would split apart when I took it out of the bowl I was using as a mold. I had to use more Jello mix, about half the water, and two or three additional packets of gelatin to create an unnaturally firm Jello that would hold up. The stapler did survive! 😁

Incredible! I'm sure Scout and Eleanor will never forget the effort you put into these small parts of their childhood my friend :) Unlike my own offspring, who can barely remember a darn thing!🤨😉

One of the ”staples” of life

Heading out to Lakeview, Oregon soon. We're gonna call in to the Wagon Wheel Cafe for takeout Breakfast Sandwiches to tide us over until lunch time. I'm gonna carry a couple knives - 1) Case single blade Sowbelly and 2) Case Tony Bose memorial Tribal lock. One good thing about rural hospitals like we're going to is that you can carry anything in the hospital short of a machete without batting an eye.

Looks good, Gary. My hope is to get a Krein TK-1 at some point as a regular pocket carry. Maybe this year, we’ll see. So, do you prefer a straight edge or a spear on the small fixed blades?
Thanks Bart. I like the TK-1. I do have one of Tom's TK-11, B&T. Very similar but about an inch longer.
In general I prefer some belly on a small fixed blade. Just seems to be the right choice for me. I like a small straight edge as a secondary on a folder though. Like the little Wharncliff we have on our Eureka Jacks.
Just so happens these were set aside for today.

I first thought that was a monkey wrench stamped on the blade, but, now I think it might be a parrot head with a crooked knife stuck in the back of his neck ! 😍🤣
Might be my recent bouts with image recognition ( or imagination ) in knife handles has now progressed to blades. 🤣
From the Coutellerie Couperier-Coursolle website:
  • "Mark "Wrench with Adjustable", stamped, certifying the origin of the knife"

Same knives, but new photos fresh outa my smart phone.96EF0189-5D3A-4926-9750-15617830407D.jpegA4AFF8C9-BE24-4510-8042-4925FAE41326.jpeg
I just got done getting the oil changed on my Subaru. We’ve got a good guy that takes care of our cars, and always squeezes us in even though he’s always busy. Sitting there shooting the breeze reminded me of @bigfish64’s auto shop story, except I’m the one who brought stuff from the garden. I gave him some garlic, and promised to bring him hot peppers next oil change.

Enjoy your day!
