Well it seems like this knife was produced much more recently than I thought. I know the blade appears to be laser engraved but the tang stamp doesn't match up with any I could find. Its definitely post 80s but having a hard time nailing down the year

Great photos. Thank you for sharing your trip.Started out in Wyoming, worked my way through Idaho and ended up in Pendleton Oregon for the night. Guess I’ll make it home tomorrow after 18 days on the road.

Two nice ones there Gary. Great photos, love all the colors. I like using Opinels in the kitchen too.![]()
Great pictures Gary !
Thanks, Todd & Steve & John.Splendid picture, GT.![]()
Yeah, I prefer a stockman with round bolsters. Congrats on the similar stockman (was it a Camillus?) you recently got! Thanks! It’s chunky and solid. Carries nice with the round bolsters and feels good in the hand. It’s becoming a favorite.
Congrats on your new GEC pair, John! I especially like that lockback (83 I think).Good Morning Porch Friends
I'm going to carry two "new to me" knives today.

You're a spicy guy for sure, Rob! Those are a couple of cool Alox Classics, and I think that cat of yours is gonna be thrilled with that Opinel you posted later!Tina 606 and a couple Precious Alox SD's have found their way into my pockets for Friday.................... at least until the mail runs around noon. I have another custom Opinel coming that I am excited about, but, it won't be mine for long.
Elijah J.'s 3rd birthday coming up next week.

Everyone has to tote a Camp/Scout knife every once in a while. With all due respect to GEC, said knife must have the blade, three tools, and bail found on this old Case survivor from 1979.
Classic pair! A Black Cat is in the running for my favorite lockback (a Case Tribal Lock is also right up there).Imperial Barlow and Mercator K55K

Impressive staghounds, Gary!
Splendid buttery stag on that old Case jack!
I had no idea what that was, either, and didn't even have a guess. Suppose that's not surprising, since my idea of salad dressing is Spicy Ranch, or Thousand Island, or even some baked beans from a can.Sounds like the best day ever !!!
And what the heck is that bottle with the cork in it ?? ... very unique and never seen anything like that
If I had to guess, there's also a cork or cap in the top and it's an oil and vinegar contraption ??
I enjoy your "dog walk" photos! I think AlanSAK Bantam with a RR2333 "Tater Skin" brought to my attention by joeradza.

"Paralysis by analysis" is what I call it, and why I work from a rotation schedule. The struggle is realI doubt I have as many knives as some of you, but I'll spend forever standing in front of my knife drawer trying to pick one out.
Superb sowbelly!View attachment 1912575View attachment 1912571View attachment 1912573View attachment 1912572
Case can still turn out a top notch product! This one is tight, snappy, and even has a proper pointy tip on the main blade! No blade rub either, although I always expect some to develop as I use a stockman, and this sucker will be used! I love carbon steel, but it is great to have a few stainless knives available when things get swampy. I primarily rely upon Case for my stainless knives since GEC makes so few.
...
Hit me with your best Schatt, JJ!
Sensational sun-drenched stag, Bart!I carried my Case swayback jack this morning and then switched to this one this afternoon.

Dandy double stag, Jack!
This is interesting . The OP's knife really LOOKS like Stag and it's a close-up too, the Stag appears as thin panel and runs under the bolsters, certainly not Delrin. These D2 knives were made in a variety of scales: Walnut, BEM, Zebra, Horn, and 2 types of Stagbone- White Carved Stag Bone (WCSB) and the later Amber Carved Bone Stag (ACSB) The WCSB arrived very white with black colouration and clear tooling or jigging marks, it latter took on a yellower hue and verdigris tones too on some of mine....View attachment 1914161

Good to see you back after your break José P
Thank you. That's very true.Never appologize for carrying the same knife every day... when it works it works.![]()

Round bolstered stockman have become a favorite of mine. My recent one is a Delrin Camillus #69. I have a older bone handled version that’s too nice to carry to work. At least imho. So my newest was a necessity.Yeah, I prefer a stockman with round bolsters. Congrats on the similar stockman (was it a Camillus?) you recently got!
Splendid buttery stag on that old Case jack!

The author explains his methods on the web page. You are free to examine that at your leisure. How accurate is that chart though? Was it compiled during Queen's active production by the company or afterwards by enthusiasts?
Message sent.I think Alanjoeradza is selling a lot of those burlap sodbusters for RR with his photos here on BF. I'm probably getting one in my fall/winter knife order.
And to make things even more confusing, they had a habit in later years of re-using old stamps and old stock blades.Shame the tang stamp chart don't cover the last 35± years of production.
It's amazing stag, and the shield inletting is perfect. It’s my only stag knife and I really like the stag on it.
Thank you, GT.Congrats on your new GEC pair, John! I especially like that lockback (83 I think).
I could never accept such a treasure, well I could but I would feel indebted for life. Plus, England is a far travel to visit someone in jail. Thanks John, I wish I could send it to you, but I don't fancy 5 years in Stir with Grossburger or Mr Big!
Thank you, my friend.Nice composition my friend
It did, but I was able to wrestle it back from him. That one takes the biscuit John!
A very usable and practical choice.
That is a fantastic photo, and the knife is one of the all-time best.
That's a long road trip, my friend. Thanks for taking us along and showing us all the sites.
Wonderful pair, Jack.
