What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Well it seems like this knife was produced much more recently than I thought. I know the blade appears to be laser engraved but the tang stamp doesn't match up with any I could find. Its definitely post 80s but having a hard time nailing down the year

There is also a pattern chart that can be downloaded.

Do you have the box? The covers are most likely CSB carved stag bone. Produced in 2002, 03, 04, and 05.

You can play some classic music with that pair, Jack!

Two nice ones there Gary. Great photos, love all the colors. I like using Opinels in the kitchen too. 😉👍
Great pictures Gary !
Splendid picture, GT. 🤠
Thanks, Todd & Steve & John.
Todd, Opinels are not very stylish IMHO, but they sure impress me with their ability to cut!

Thanks! It’s chunky and solid. Carries nice with the round bolsters and feels good in the hand. It’s becoming a favorite.
Yeah, I prefer a stockman with round bolsters. Congrats on the similar stockman (was it a Camillus?) you recently got!

Good Morning Porch Friends
I'm going to carry two "new to me" knives today.

Tina 606 and a couple Precious Alox SD's have found their way into my pockets for Friday. 😊 ................... at least until the mail runs around noon. I have another custom Opinel coming that I am excited about, but, it won't be mine for long.🐈‍⬛🐾 Elijah J.'s 3rd birthday coming up next week.;)

Everyone has to tote a Camp/Scout knife every once in a while. With all due respect to GEC, said knife must have the blade, three tools, and bail found on this old Case survivor from 1979.
I like your requirements for a scout knife, LT, and your Case is a prime example!

Classic pair! A Black Cat is in the running for my favorite lockback (a Case Tribal Lock is also right up there).

Wishing everyone a fantastic weekend :) Double stag for me today :)

Impressive staghounds, Gary!

Splendid buttery stag on that old Case jack!

Sounds like the best day ever !!!
And what the heck is that bottle with the cork in it ?? ... very unique and never seen anything like that
If I had to guess, there's also a cork or cap in the top and it's an oil and vinegar contraption ??
I had no idea what that was, either, and didn't even have a guess. Suppose that's not surprising, since my idea of salad dressing is Spicy Ranch, or Thousand Island, or even some baked beans from a can.

I enjoy your "dog walk" photos! I think Alan joeradza joeradza is selling a lot of those burlap sodbusters for RR with his photos here on BF. I'm probably getting one in my fall/winter knife order.

The struggle is real😂 I doubt I have as many knives as some of you, but I'll spend forever standing in front of my knife drawer trying to pick one out.
"Paralysis by analysis" is what I call it, and why I work from a rotation schedule.

Case can still turn out a top notch product! This one is tight, snappy, and even has a proper pointy tip on the main blade! No blade rub either, although I always expect some to develop as I use a stockman, and this sucker will be used! I love carbon steel, but it is great to have a few stainless knives available when things get swampy. I primarily rely upon Case for my stainless knives since GEC makes so few.

Superb sowbelly!

I've been toting these two Schatts for Saturday. :)
Hit me with your best Schatt, JJ!

I carried my Case swayback jack this morning and then switched to this one this afternoon.

This is interesting . The OP's knife really LOOKS like Stag and it's a close-up too, the Stag appears as thin panel and runs under the bolsters, certainly not Delrin. These D2 knives were made in a variety of scales: Walnut, BEM, Zebra, Horn, and 2 types of Stagbone- White Carved Stag Bone (WCSB) and the later Amber Carved Bone Stag (ACSB) The WCSB arrived very white with black colouration and clear tooling or jigging marks, it latter took on a yellower hue and verdigris tones too on some of mine....

How accurate is that chart though? Was it compiled during Queen's active production by the company or afterwards by enthusiasts? Under its section of Queen City I see no mention of the Ebony, Greenbone, Redwintetbottom QCCC Teardrops I have, but maybe I'm not looking thoroughly. Also, I was sold a pattern No.2 Jackknife mid 70s as Delrin, on getting it I knew it was bone by the pores and feel and ran a hot pin test to confirm this. Schatt made a Winterbottom Bone edition late 70s and likely some was left over so waste not want not. Not sure that knife factories compile really accurate lists of their production and the OP's Canoe could be a special one hafted in Stag, special order for a customer or some leftover Stag to use up? It really looks like Stag texture from the photos anyway.

Here's some WCSB on their Utility Knife, a VASTLY superior knife to CASE's Slimline Trapper but never as popular. It does not look like Stag nor does it pretend to be. Note the verdigris...but as I got it out of the drawer I'll carry it today, stunningly sharp too. Great W&T and no gaps or play, early c21st Queen D2 knives were very decent items.

Round bolstered stockman have become a favorite of mine. My recent one is a Delrin Camillus #69. I have a older bone handled version that’s too nice to carry to work. At least imho. So my newest was a necessity. 😉
Thanks for noticing and have a great day.

The author explains his methods on the web page. You are free to examine that at your leisure. 😉 I am going to step away from the conversation, I don't feel like dealing with the "internet" today. In addition I feel I have already done more research than the original poster has done. However that's the way now I guess just ask before you look yourself. 😉

Shame the tang stamp chart don't cover the last 35± years of production.
And to make things even more confusing, they had a habit in later years of re-using old stamps and old stock blades.
It’s my only stag knife and I really like the stag on it.
It's amazing stag, and the shield inletting is perfect. 🤠
Congrats on your new GEC pair, John! I especially like that lockback (83 I think).
Thank you, GT. :)
There were two GEC models that I bought and sold or gave away early on in my collecting. But I really missed having an #83 and a #48. Then they got very hard to get ahold of. I was finally able to add them back into my small collection. Now I'm happy again.
Thanks John, I wish I could send it to you, but I don't fancy 5 years in Stir with Grossburger or Mr Big!
I could never accept such a treasure, well I could but I would feel indebted for life. Plus, England is a far travel to visit someone in jail. 😁
Nice composition my friend
Thank you, my friend. :)
That one takes the biscuit John!
It did, but I was able to wrestle it back from him. 🤣
A very usable and practical choice. 🤠
That is a fantastic photo, and the knife is one of the all-time best. 🤠
That's a long road trip, my friend. Thanks for taking us along and showing us all the sites. 🤠
Wonderful pair, Jack. 🤠
The AC looks so diminutive next to the big ol' Okapi.
