I went to Newbury and took something old with me.

I saw the biggest gathering of swans ever, thats about half of them in the photo.

The Empire cafe in a squalid part of town made me smile, glory days.

I also picked up all the wreaths and laid them out neatly, just after I took the photo the wind blew them all over the place, RIP lads job done.

I hope you had a lovely day with those two vintage beauties JJ , superb jigging on both
Thank you very much for your kind words, Jack!!! :)
Yes, they're not good for everything, sometimes you need speed and power! :D I'm sure tradesmen were happy to get rid of their old drills, something that has happened entirely in our lifetimes. I remember my dad building something at home, (only happened once), and he had to get permission to borrow an electric drill from work! :D My mate gets the old, heavier, 'brace and bit' type, (as they are known here), and they still sell, but not as well as the smaller style
They are certainly a very cool pieces to have in a collection, combined with their benefits for smaller precision or detailed drilling.:thumbsup:
Hope everyone has had a good weekend, and that your week gets off to a good start :) I'm carrying these two today, my Hartshead Barlow, and a small, slim Sheepsfoot by Thomas Turner

Sweet looking metal sheepsfoot that makes a wonderful Monday partner to your Hartshead Barlow; classic folding ruler, as well! 😀;)👍👍
I'm flying to the sunny island of Fuerteventura, for Christmas, tomorrow. Hopefully I can call in from time to time, but I'll take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy Christmas/Hanukah/Yule/Saturnalia :) Have fun, and enjoy spending time with your family and friends

HA !!! 🤣 ... the beautiful turtle was relocated to a safer environment a short distance away, sans pocket knife, while Mason was occupied with the Jolly Egg.
Noticed the turtle's shell had been nicked at some point (driver's side rear in the pic) ... but it wasn't Mason's doing. Not that he wouldn't have.

I have a few traditional knives in various iterations, all of which I dearly like ... a lot, but some just fit better than others for the ride along and not easily given up.

Nice picture of a fine looking folder ! 😍

Rob your Whittler is divine 👏 I was staring at your photo, and I asked her why she didn't want to share your pocket. Softly, she replied "I don't *have* to." You see faces, I talk to knives and lots of other inanimate objects. Whatever gets you through the day, huh? 🤷‍♂️

Lots of problems today, but lack of great handbuilt tools is not one of them!

She has an attitude my friend ............... like a Hollywood star struck on herself !;)🤣 I talk to my Maine Coon a lot, does that count ?🤣

Sorry about the problems today for you. Hopefully that beautiful Davison helped some.😍

Got two new in today, Marbles MR365 Barlow, and a Rough Ryder Classic Carbon canoe. The canoe needs a bit of cleaning. Sluggish closing ... fairly difficult to open ... so I'm going to carry the Barlow first.
I paired it with my Marbles MR360 canoe. Both have genuine Rams Horn covers. 😁👍

... now I "need" the matching large stockman, and maybe the matching (RR) Daddy Barlow ... (both out of production (unless there is a second or greater run) and sold out, of course ... 🙄☹️

Hope everyone has an great week. 😇

Just got this in the mail, a really nice Trivisa slipjoint with M390 and desert ironwood, I believe the Aquarius-02 is the model. Super comfortable, full grip, a blade just over 3", beautiful grinds and overall beautiful fit and finish. The half-stop is crisp as are almost all transitions (the ironwood is barely shy of flush on one side of the butt of the handle), spring is flush in all three positions, and it came very sharp from the factory. I haven't cut anything with it yet, I've heard some say it's somewhat thick behind the edge but it doesn't look or feel that way to me yet. I'd give the pull a 7/10 and the walk and talk also a 7/10, although part of this might be down to my only half-gripe with the knife, the long pull. It's just a bit too close to the pivot. If they'd have extended it even 1/8" I think it would be significantly better, but as-is it sure looks nice and isn't enough to put me off the knife. I think the price I paid was fair, a really well-made knife.
