I was at a Conference in Charlotte in 2015. They rented the Hall of Fame for a reception at the end so we had plenty of time to see everything there. Pretty fun night. Fell right in line with my favorite Pixar movie, Cars…Haven't been on much since Monday morning and it shows, ~30 pages behind (29 officially) in this thread. We got in the truck and drove to Charlotte for a few days. Highlights were NASCAR Hall of Fame, visiting the race complex in Concord (Charlotte Motor Speedway, the Dirt Track, and the drag strip), driving on Charlotte Motor Speedway for their Christmas light display (which was awesome, also 24 degrees of banking in the corners is pretty steep). Tried to visit some of the race shops in the area, but they were closed for the holidays. We drove to Raleigh on Thursday and checked out the NC State campus, then Friday night we went to the Hurricanes/Panthers game. It was my boys' first NHL experience and they had a great time. We made it back home yesterday to celebrate New Year's Eve (and my oldest's birthday) at home. This little Boker came with me and has been in my pocket all week, including today. Happy New Year everyone, hope this year is good for you.

Sounds like a whirlwind tour filled with great experiences Jeremy. I'm envious.Haven't been on much since Monday morning and it shows, ~30 pages behind (29 officially) in this thread. For some reason, read that as getting old and wandering mind, I thought brussel sprouts took two growing seasons from bloom set until harvest.Well, that and my celery take a long time to mature. I started the sprouts in the house, and didn’t harvest them until after a couple of frosts. They like cooler weather.
Besides tasting better than store bought, I like to grow them because they take very little room, and other than watching out for cabbage worms, no maintenance.
That is awesome, Jim. The Glory Road display had another Hudson Hornets that was driven by Herb Thomas. Also, the third floor had a full size Lightning McQueen car.I was at a Conference in Charlotte in 2015. They rented the Hall of Fame for a reception at the end so we had plenty of time to see everything there. Pretty fun night. Fell right in line with my favorite Pixar movie, Cars…

What a commendable Camillus canoe, Jer! That has to make the new year quite happy for you.
Simultaneously funny and sad; hope you and everyone else who are still awaiting news of the BF BKs you ordered will welcome them home soon!... Today I'm gonna tote my 2022 Blade Forums Bunny Knife. Really looking forward to it. Oh, wait a minute. It hasn't arrived yet. It hasn't even shipped. Oh well. There'll be a place for it should it ever arrive. Sausage and eggs for breakfast.

A red bone commemorative lock-back knife from the early 1980's getting some pocket time today. Seems it was a joint venture between two or three companies. 3.25 inches closed.

Thank you brother Jim. I would like to see your Canoe from the series.
...
Rob & Jim, those are outstanding examples of that Schrade-Wostenholm series! It has often been stated how unwise it is to partially open multiple blades on the same spring. The risk is said to be a broken spring
Yet, that is precisely how I received this knife and likely it had been stored in this manner for decades
Perhaps a testament to the steel, either composition, heat treat, dimensions, or combination thereof used in the spring and pattern construction
Unlike perhaps that found in some Camillus and Queen knives for example that have been known to experience broken springs
However, a feature of the presentation packaging provides for storage with the blades in a closed position. So there is that.

I have 3 Case 47 stockman knives; that's my favorite Case stockman. But I've never seen a Case 47 pen knife in person; yours is sensational, LT!View attachment 2030851View attachment 2030850View attachment 2030852View attachment 2030849
Single spring 47, XX era. This Sambar is well aged!
Thanks for the compliment on my flock of lambs, Steve. Thanks gary and superb Lamb collection !
I appreciate your kind remark, Bob.Hi Gary,
Really impressed with your flock of lambs.
Yes I have always been an early riser. When I taught I would be in my classroom at 6:30 am.( I had the keys)The quiet allowed me to get alot done. Now for the last 17 years of retirement it's a part of me.
Bob
5K Qs Thank you, it was a fun trip with a stop at the knife store for a couple new ones. The explorer has already earned its keep with the scratching off of a couple gift card codes and then reading those small codes with the magnifying glass. I heard some groans when I pulled out the gift cards and then sighs of relief when they realized I was well prepared.

Some beautiful Oak Mike . Needs a Shield and the edges touched up though !!!!

Thanks for the encouragement, Todd. Thanks Gary, I always appreciate your kind comments.
Wow, great flock Gary.![]()
Jeff, I'm sure the lambsfoots are a courageous and dedicated flock, but they'd be totally overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of my canoe fleet!Oh, it’ll come when it comes. I don’t care enough to worry about it. It’s not like I don’t have anything else that can cut stuff
Now, seeing those Lambsfeet, I’m thinking your canoes are getting worried!
The Buck 110 IS bomb proof! Thanks a lot, Gary!!! The Buck is a tad heavy, though it's bomb proof, too!![]()
That is certainly a luscious and lovely lineup of Lambsfoot cutters, Gary! ...
I'm sure a sunny seascape can be as stimulating as a good brew. When I visited my daughter in Spain (8 years ago! ), I was underwhelmed by the beer options there at the time....
Thanks Gary Not really, I'm afraid, but the views helped![]()

Thanks for lauding my lambs, Rob.and I thought my stockman was all I ever needed, when I was a kid. ... That is quite the lamb collection. I need one of those wooden Hartsheads. One is all you need ! ...

A very fine flock, my friend. ...
Thanks for the support, John.
I liked that all-metal (I think) knife you made and posted here before (with the hole through the blade), but I like this creation of yours even more!Homemade today.

Greg, I played cards (Hearts, Set-Back, Pinochle, mostly Bridge) often back in my college days, but my in-laws later taught me Euchre. Seemed like a good game, but the in-laws thought one of the fun aspects of card-playing was cheating as much as possible, and I disagreed. As a family we enjoy playing cards here too, John. We'll break into a Euchre match today, daughters, son in laws and grandkids all know the game. It is a good way to keep the group around the table enjoying each others company after a big meal. Have a good weekend and a great new year.
Notable pair of knives, Bob. I headed for bed about 8:30 last night with a new book, but I only made it through 4 pages before dozing off repeatedly and finally gave up at 9pm.
I hope you're back to 100% health ASAP, Paul.Hail, Porch dwellers … I’ve been under the weather (waaay under) for the past week, but here’s today’s carry (recycled pic).
Still not feeling up to much, but here’s wishing all a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year!

That Lütters Lion marlinspike looks like a heck of a work knife!
Beautiful knife, Mike!A few years ago (maybe more than a few?), I had to have a Cannitler. Well, it has spent the better part of those years hidden away. I figured I’d give it some time today before switching to a more appropriate “party knife.”

Finished my cardinal bird carving
Thank you. There’s no way I could have done the birds on the bat logo. I cut it out of a 1983 fleer sticker card and glued it on.That is amazing to me!
The carving is impressive, but the paint job is what really blows me away! Did you do the Cards logo across the chest of the shirt freehand??![]()

Thanks for the support, John.
Your ebony WCLF is a fine handful, and, I don't know what card game you're playing, but if a large number of cards is desirable, you have a fine handful of cards, too!![]()
I liked that all-metal (I think) knife you made and posted here before (with the hole through the blade), but I like this creation of yours even more! How big is it? Desirable blade shape, smooth overall profile to the closed knife, and obviously briar is good for something besides pipe bowls!![]()

I caught something at the start of the month that put me in bed for 2 days with fever and killer sore throat, and I was stuffy and/or coughing the entire month of December. I hope your illness doesn't linger!

That is a great example of Case at it's best.A Case Teardrop in Trusharp and 6.5 Bonestag.
Immaculately made knife, even to the extent of the spring being flush at the half-stop position as well as when open and closed.

Yes, it is. All of the TB patterns I have purchased are exemplary in fit and finish. That is a great example of Case at it's best.![]()
