Yeah, I’ve seen tracks under bark…seen it in bone too but it is a sign of poor health and the bone is not solid, would seem a poor choice for use for knife handles.

"Reverse worm groove" presumably made by reverse worms. Not to be confused with reverse wormholes, which is a whole other conversation.
