What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Linen shorts often means the 15 in the pocket, and the venerable TL-29 on a workbench where it lives and works really hard. I keep it just below razor as everyone should have at least one very sharp workbench knife. She just sawed crossgrain through two bamboo skewers I used to reinforce a sheared tenon on a 200 y/o chair. Bamboo is unkind to edges (high silica content) but this old knife has handled everything I've thrown at it and never complained. The Ric-Nor labeled TL is too bulky for me to ever carry, but I still love the frame despite the fact the linerlock won't work for me as a lefty so I can't use it to strip wire unless I wanna do it right-handed. This one also works as a circuit tester (it wasn't me - I use my best Klein clippers for that 🤔). Happy Saturday Porch!

Made a trip to town yesterday with the usual stops, posted a package to San Francisco, CA and as I said I would, I only carried Bunny #525 with me. It's a good knife to carry for luck. If I add a 5 and a 2 I get lucky seven and if I add em all I get boxcars twelve. Well, all that came in handy because I turn eighty in August and my drivers license is up for renewal. I stopped at the DMV and asked when I would get a Notification for Renewal. There wasn't anyone else except the clerks there so one of the gals filled out my application for renewal for me on her computer, administered the written test, gave me a vision test and promptly renewed my license. In and out of DMV in less than an hour. Who'd a thunk it!!!??? Off to town again in a bit with what else but Bunny #525

An hour? That is a miracle in California!

Some of you may recall that I rented and used a Tree Root Exposer ("rototiller") on my front yard last Saturday, until the dumb rental broke. Rented another one today (I actually think it was the exact same one, post-repair) and it worked great this time.
Here is the awful machine:

Had this two in my pocket while fighting with the machine:

Here I am, in combat:

Here's my brilliant and plucky and lovely bride going after me to dig out roots and then rake them up:

Here's the pile of roots we removed in total (this isn't including the equally large pile from last week - this is just from today):

And here's the knives I have in my pocket now as I'm relaxing and getting ready to drink a little wine. We are trying to decide between sangiovese, tempranillo, malbec, and barbera grapes to plant, so that's about the only varietals we're drinking these days.

Great pics! All you needed was an “American Gothic” pic of the both of you!

That's one of the good ones. If you want one that'll beat you half to death, try a front tine tiller.
