What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Getting a light rain. We’ll gladly accept. The sun is breaking through in the east, and this is looking west.View attachment 2251387
In a camp chair under my sugar maple, which blocks the rain. Mostly.
Same knives, new photos. Unusual for a compulsive daily knife swapper. Boring?View attachment 2251390

My friend at the farm, the one who gave this knife back, just texted that they have cauliflower ready to harvest if I want some, so I’ll go get a few heads. I did not grow any this year. I like to put a whole head in the dutch oven with a handful of garlic cloves in the oven for a couple of hours.

Have a Fine Friday!
Love the rainbow Jeff. What a coincidence, I saw one on my lighter! 🤣

I stopped smoking almost three weeks ago after 27ish years of it. It's been.... a bit miserable but generally positive.

For those of you who have never smoked, you're welcome for the increased share of taxes I've paid over that amount of time.🤣🤣🤣 (That is more of a dig at myself for the stupidity of addiction)

My guilty pleasure is typically a honey bun. For those of you who are not familiar they are prepackaged, trash pastries dripping with sugar syrup and cinnamon. Usually sold in gas stations or convenience stores.

Oddly, in these past few smoke free weeks I have not craved a honey bun... But have developed a new addiction to pears and eat at least one or two a day. Worse things out there I suppose.

The home made friction folder makes a fine fruit knife. It's really nice for food... So it had to retire from the side pocket and move to the lunch bucket.

Mmmm good!

Congrats on quitting, as an ex smoker I know how hard it is to kick the habit 👍

Good for you. I quit in 2019 after decades. I knew it was stupid, but I enjoyed it. More so when people would get bitchy about it poke2.gifevil.gif
I still get the occasional craving, but now its more like an intellectual observation, "Huh, a craving". After 4 years I feel safe saying I'm done. I have no interest in smoking. Stick with it. After 3 weeks the nicotine should be mostly out of your system, so now its just a matter of deciding not to smoke. Good luck :thumbsup:

I enjoyed it
Thanks! Ya I've always enjoyed it untill probably the last year. Really feeling it. Terrible condition for a 39 year old dude. Family/friends are either in bad health or gone from smoking... it's time. We had my 51 yr old friends funeral about a month ago and that was when the plan started. Way to young to check out.

Congrats on quitting
Thanks! I'm reluctant to say "quit" yet but at this point I think it's good Lol!

Rick, I love your friction folder. What did you do, reshape a Russell knife? That’s a great way to source a good carbon steel blade. There are tons of Russell and Old Hickory kitchen knives on the auction site. 🤔

Best of luck with turning the corner on taking care of your body!
Perfect description of HoneyBuns, by the way.
I completely gave up donuts ~ actually, almost ALL pre-packaged, factory made foods, especially snacks. But when I pass a display case of fresh donuts, especially the gooey glazed donuts, and big cinnamon rolls, I have to stop my hand from reaching.

I have a hard time passing up a good homemade jelly donut.... Every once in a while I'll go grab one!

Thanks and yes it was a Russell patch knife. Similar to this one

The walnut handle isn't as beautiful as it was going to be in my head, but the overall design worked well. Better description and pics here.

My lower back has been bothersome this week. Felt a lot better yesterday and ok this morning, so I'm going to drive into town and see about playing some pool with the guys. If it doesn't feel ok after a couple of games, I'll implement good old "Plan B": have a beer, watch the other players and talk trash :D
Poker later in the afternoon
