What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Going to town pretty soon for a grocery run at the Holiday Market and chow at the Wagon Wheel Cafe. The spouts on a couple of gas cans I use are a bit iffy so I'm gonna get two new 5-gallon ones at Ace Hardware. I'll tote this Buck 055 on today's journey.

If I have to replace any of my gas cans, I will trawl garage sales, and flea markets.
I have one of the California mandated new ones, and it’s the only one that causes me to spill gas.
Schrade 893 today. I don’t carry this knife frequently for some reason but I do like it.

Ha😁
I love when wildlife cooperates.
I always linger on your posts, Trav. Great collection. But when you show this dead mint four line Camillus Easy Open Jack, I get to see what my Grandpa’s favorite knife looked like when he first bought it. Other than a cheap Hammer brand pen, and an also cheap Imperial Barow, the Camillus was his best, and for most of his life, his one and only.
These are my two well used specimins, Grandpa’s is on the left. Broken secondary spring, and heavy sharpening loss. The other, worn, but not so severly, is the one I found to use, since I thought it best to retire Grandpa’s knife.AEDA69BA-4698-4523-9C5F-3DAD554E2B36.jpeg
Shill bidding is common - on ANYTHING at that site.
Another reason I won't use it. I suspect Shill bids are common place on all auction sites, including the "live" auctions. 😡

I know for a fact they are at live auto auctions. A guy bidding on a 57 Chevy rag top got taken to the cleaners for $154,000. 😡
One of the guys that walk the floor during the bidding stood behind me yelling "YEP" for the higher bid like I was bidding, starting at $49,000. Auction guy told me "Don't worry. You won't win. The auctioneer knows you're not bidding. (well DUH! I didn't have a bid card! Even if I wanted to bid on something, I couldn't!) We're just upping the bid to what he is willing to pay. I think He'll go a bit higher than this."

Same auction tried to screw my boss on a car. ("custom" 1970 Corvette "roadster" with no top and cut-down to 8 or 10 inch tall windshield. Shill bid it to $283,000. I saw what was going on, and told her "STOP!!! NO ONE IS BIDDING AGAINST YOU! It's a scam, the auction is shill bidding you! If you "win" refuse the car because of their shill bids that started around $80,000.) Thankfully she listened. She stopped when the shill went over her last bid.
(a fair weather, must be garaged impractical P.O.S. car at best. No top. Any precipitation ... with no top or side windows ... and no possibility of a top ... the AC and heat may as well not been there ... The guy that "customized" it ruined a perfectly "good" low mileage (supposedly under 3000 miles) classic 427 Corvette convertable ... if it really was a factory 427 Corvette ... They never claimed "Numbers Matching" so I have my doubts ...)
Eye opening story, buddy.
Lots of predators out there.

decided upon a "early" pocket carry (cutlery) change.
Ulster Number 10 Barlow (1950's? 1960s?) joined by a c.1980 Ulster "Oficial BSA".
I almost went with my SAK Evo Grip 14, but decided "I use the can opener more than the scissors ... th LM has scissors if I need them ...) and I prefer the "American" can opener over the one Victorinox uses"

It's a Buck 501 Squire today. After all the excitement of going to town yesterday, we're recuperating today. Yep, that's right. It can be exciting to go to the C0-OP for dog food, drive down main street and see our one and only movie theater which is only open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and then swing by ACE Hardware for a look see at the newly arrived lumber and roofing material. Yes sir/gal/youngster, it is an exciting occasion to go to town. Sausage and pancakes for breakfast.

I looked for the "Well Patinated Jigged Bone Two Blade Large Regular Jack Friday" thread . . . but gave up and just posted here instead.

That’s funny. I was looking for the “Heavy Duty Jack Knives With Shackles” thread, but couldn’t find it…4D2B5067-F0FD-4952-B087-E48F12A33287.jpeg53713054-41E4-48B1-BC7D-EA84908935CE.jpeg
Coffee, steel cut oats, and work knives to start my day. A little run into town to pick up an rx, and my music book for Sunday, and I’ll spend the rest of the day picking and putting up beans.
But we’re taking an old friend out for dinner tonight, and I plan on changing these knives for something more fancy.
Vik used to work with his late wife, and we try to stay in touch with him. He’s pushing 90, and is a wonderful person.

Happy Friday.

As you know I like to use my stuff and see how it will perform.

Most people would have used the cheaper but same function Red HJ I got today, but I have no intention of selling this Waynorth Wonder HJ.😍

Imagine you are stranded on a desert island, lots of canned food in the lifeboat rations but you lost the can opener.

After you turned the can over to check it hasnt got a ring pull 😁 your HJ will open it (maybe brutal but effective).

I found it best to take the blade all the way down and a bit away from the side,it hasnt scratched or damaged the awl,its like a knife through butter.

Be careful of course as it will be jagged.

The knife pick from RR helps open the awl,I found it easier still if I opened the main blade first.

Conclusion I love this very useful, tough good looking tool.

I recalled Professor Gary’s (@5KQs) photos of iron storm drains, and couldn’t resist shooting this one. I love the fish on it.93CBE5E0-06A6-4F78-8C4F-D6DB7526691D.jpeg
But it was in a busy Walgreens parking lot, so I had to do it quick. I don’t think anyone saw me lay a knife down and snap a photo. 😗
I also saw this sad Chevy with a broken back. I hope the frame doesn’t break all the way when they’re on the road.5B543259-5C80-474E-ABCC-28B4EBC77F28.jpeg
