What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Today’s pair. Hope everyone is having a great holiday. And remember, it’s the entire Porch’s responsibility to root for the Clemson Tigers all year long to have a respectable showing, starting with this evening’s contest against the Fighting Krzyzewskis. But gah…FSU looked tough last night. I’m afraid Bobby Bowden’s ghost might be back.

May as well root for Clemson. Kansas fell off the globe a long time ago!1080x360.jpeg

HI Mike. I modded that RR080 by grinding the spay blade into a punch. Here's a pic of the other side.

Great job !

Chicken on the Weber for Labor day. Also known as Gary's 2 beer chicken. I drink 2 beers, and it's done.
I might give my Halfrich Rounder a taste when it's done.

InK0LRb.jpg
I can't cook chicken by the number of beers. Two beers and the grill is not hot yet. Rue is the only beer correlation I have. Supposedly a 6 beer rue is chocolate brown. My 6 beer rue is light peanut butter. I cannot stand even off cold temp beer

I am back in Monmouth in Wales and will be exploring more places towards the coast.

I took some more pictures of the gatehouse as someone asked about the door in.

As you can see only one and it’s very small.

My main knife this trip will be this 86 stainless,I would like it more if it was wood instead of Micarta.

When I bought it I intended for it to be my practical travel tool.

Happy Labor Day!

I've got a Centenarian Piano Key Pair in my pocketses today:

Not only that, they’re a hunnert years old!

What do you call those beans when you want to be more specific, Jeff?
Cans in the store are often called "green beans", but when I was a kid, we always called them "string beans", although I don't know why.
When we were Up North in a cottage on Lake Huron for a couple of weeks in August, an Ohio guy renting another of the half-dozen cabins where we stay gave us a bag full of green beans. I chopped up a few to put in my oatmeal every morning we were there, and put a few more in my "casseroles" every evening.:cool::thumbsup:

These are heirloom beans from southern Appalachia, Gary.
These are greasy beans, called that because the pods are smooth and shiny.
They are supposed to be picked after the pods fill out, which makes them high in protein. And they need to cook a little longer than common snap beans, and a lot of them have strings, which need to be removed while trimming the ends. A bit more work, but worth it.

And, of course, you can also let them dry and shell them out for dry beans.

The names are fun, usually named after the person or family who’ve been growing the variety for generations. This bean is named Whitey Swanger.624C092B-EF0B-4A52-B63B-101F83D6877D.jpeg
I grew three varieties this year ~ Whitey Swanger, Nobles, and Turkey Craw.
Three forty foot rows vs. six rows of tomatoes. Next year, I plan on reversing that. I like beans😙

TC 15 spey and smooth stag lambsfoot today.

Great combo my man. Love the Spey TC.
Really cool Craftsman. Don’t see many of the old Craftsman knives in this thread.
I just checked and they don't play Missouri, so sure. If they did play Missouri, I bet the Tigers would win 😝
Unless they play Tennessee, I didn't check 🤔 I'd have to root for the Vols 😬

A Rough Rider with a punch?! I don't believe I've seen that one before. What is the model number if you don't mind?

The knife is ok. Its "like" worthy. The gun, otoh, 🤩 What a beauty 👍👍👍

That Case buffalo horn 😍👍👍👍
So are you a student or teacher or taking "night" classes?
Ha! I don’t want to relive the Orange Bowl embarrassment with the Vols from last year 🤫.

Glad you’re feeling better @Modoc ED!! Be careful around the Burning Man travelers … in addition to the mud, I’m sure there are other substances you want to avoid!!😜🤪

Both of my kids and SIL are Clemson grads; we are ‘All In’ on the Tigers!! Hopefully, the new OC will bring some juice to the offense!! The ‘Cadence Call’ has been playing in my head all day … ‘C-L-E-M-S-O-N … T-I-G-E-R-S … Fight Tigers, Fight Tigers, Fight, Fight, Fight!!’
Yessir! LETS GO TIGERS! I’m with you- high expectations for the offense for this year. Hopefully it will be fun to watch!

I hope everyone's week goes well.

Light (ish) selection for this week.

Thank you for your support as an honorary cheerleader. I’ll put Pom poms in the mail.

I often overlook this one, but it's a pretty cool knife.View attachment 2310386
This pattern always attracts my eye. Remind me what it is called?

Hope everyone is having a great Labor Day!

Mouth. Is. Watering. You win Labor Day

Took "Ole Red" on a road trip today.
In natural lighting, the brighter red shifted into a deeper maroon-ish color which I tend to favor.
She's certainly growing on me...
Indoor lighting (🤮):
Lookin good Chris! Great jigging on that sod buster

Earlier I posted comments on some past posts, and I'll do more of the same here. In both of my "multi quote posts" this afternoon, the vast majority of the posts I quoted came from last Thursday and the Thursday before that. I have no idea why.

Gorgeous bone on that jack, Tim!:thumbsup::cool:

...I love the lines on that Rope Blade Gary  Nice knife

Thanks, Jack; those Cannon knives are much better knives than I was expecting.
Your bone WCLF is also a much better CAKE knife than I was expecting! 🤓:thumbsup:

I had this down on the bench for a number of months, waiting to give it a spa day. Been out of circulation way too long, so I put it back together last night, and in the pocket today!

WOW! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

The little one is a Solingen Boker Tree.
Thrilling threesome, Jer; the bottom 2 knives are splendid!:cool::thumbsup:

Sometimes you have to go big to get the job done, but in the case of a pocket knife it is not so.

What's the big red machine? Some kind of pipe cutter/threader?

Superb pair, Steve; that cattle knife is magical!:thumbsup::cool:

Buffalo lambsfoot and the old Henry Sears and Sons spey today.

View attachment 2305910
Dandy duo!:thumbsup::cool: I enjoy your quest for spey blades, since I'm also a fan of that blade shape. And the feathering on that horn handle is sensational.

Toted an old friend today. My old 301 that I inherited early 80’s.

Captivating Carharrt, Vince; I'm a big fan of fake stag!:cool::thumbsup:

Haven't posted my carry for a bit due to being away but here's what's in my pockets now that I am back.

Captivating couple of knives, Harry; classic patterns!:cool::cool:

Knife, stein, and Festbier are all attention-grabbers!:thumbsup::cool:

Nice to see that version of an Imperial BSA!
Thanks, Jim. :) I'm happy to have it, and an almost-identical white-handled Imperial BSA.

Fine pair today, Gary🤙
Thanks you, sir. :)

Very nice Humpback Gary !
Thanks, Steve. :) I like the stockman pattern, but it's nice to have this interesting variation.

Beautiful canoes Gary. The stag on that Buck is very nice. 😎👍

Whenever we get anywhere near fall, I start grabbing my old Case knives. These are from the 1940’s to the 1970’s. The Canoes from the mid-70’s have the best etch ever put on a knife in my opinion. It goes into the the metal. The image takes me to another, better, time and place.

5K Qs 5K Qs , love that Buck Stag Canoe Gary. Do you know about when it was made? I also love that pocket worn Humpback Case Stockman you got from Mike and posted a few pages back. Would you mind telling me the name of that color and the model number? I would love to find one like that.
Thanks, Todd & Greg. That stag Buck canoe is one of my favorite purchases. Just a random find - didn't even realize such a model existed - on some online store that I stumbled onto (and the price seemed too good to be true). According to the little "date symbol" on the tang stamp and a chart I found online, the Buck canoe was made in 2007.

Greg, that Case humpback stockman is pocket worn harvest orange, model 63046 SS (mine was made in 2010). As you can imagine, the color changes, depending on the light.

hump.pile.3open.sill.jpg

FWIW, I bought a harvest orange Tribal Lock because I was so pleased with the color of the humpback stockman, but the Tribal Lock just doesn't have as pleasing a color IMHO.
