What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

You just made me jealous. Having just received my first Queen a week ago, I know how nice that trapper must be. Enjoy it!

Had this in my pocket today:
HammerBrandScoutwithCelluloid.jpg

Hammer Brand Scout with Celluloid Scales I got yesterday.

Opened a can with it, cut tape off a box with it and cut a few zip ties.

Nice one Tex!
What on earth is the background in that pic??

I been totin' a few different lately, copperheads, and folding hunters, trying to find the perfect 4" ish 2 blade pattern... so mainly lots of Rough Riders to keep costs down. (pic forthcoming when I have daylight to do it in).

I appreciate it. The background is the foam covered, sticky rubber mesh on the back of one of my backpacks. I like dark backgrounds and the mesh looked interesting and it is what I had lying around at the time.

At my home, working outside on the fruit trees, palm trees, oak trees and black olive trees and the assorted shrubbery with my pruning today, all day, since sunrise.. Holy moly I need a shower. ..But finally done. Time for a drink now. :D

I picked this old Schrade up a while back and although pitted and worn a bit she still prune cuts like she loves the job!

This delrin scaled Queen serpentine jack with 440C blade (a gift from a good forum friend). It's my dedicated wet weather knife for those rainy days out walking with my dog.

I have a 70s version of the 2 bladed Serpentine Jack, it was my first Queen, since then I aquired about 1/2 a doz of 'em.

Blues, I have the exact same Queen and would like to know how to tell if mine has a 440C blade too? John

John, I was told that by the person who sent it to me. There is nothing on the tang stamp to indicate the steel. However, the person that sent it is an authority and knows of what he speaks so I take it at face value.

email me or pm if I can provide anything further.

today i carried my old ulster boy scout knife, and a case peanut. the boy scout knife is old, and looks worn, but is solid as a rock and holds a razor edge.

i carry a Schrade LB-8 or LB-7 depending on if it is going out or going working. when at work i carry the LB-3 or LB-1.

Currently a little Schrade LB-1 rides in my watch pocket. That way I have 3 USA knives on me at any given time.

These two little guys:
buck507.jpg

The Buck 507 is a $5 estate sale find- and apparently spent several years in its previous owner's pocket rattling around with keys and change. Thorough cleaning has revealed a remarkably well put-together knife, with first-rate action and impressive snap.

The Northfield Sleeveboard refuses to get out of my pocket. I love this one. The Sleeveboard is a great pattern- but mysteriously expensive compared to the Barlows. I guess it's more work to get the blades to nest well (which they do). The tang on the master blade is extremely beefy- almost as thick as that on the Sunfish!
