What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

#92 today. Since @Old Engineer and Amir Fleschwund Amir Fleschwund posted their walking sticks, I thought I would too. These are my take on the Blackthorn Shillelagh. None are made from Blackthorn, just local hardwoods. They’re about 36” with the tallest one being a little over 42”. I generally cut the wood and hang the sticks to dry for at least a year before I process them into walking sticks. Thought y’all might enjoy seeing them.

Great pair, Jack. 🤠
That's one of the best Boys Knife they made. 🤠

Nice to see you again, Paul. The price of this year’s forum knife, being 60% higher than previous ones, turned me away. And so I convinced myself I didn’t need one.

But even so, I knew I’d enjoy seeing them here, and yours is no exception!🤙

Tell me how you’re doing on your vow to play that pretty Taylor everyday.
Thanks, Jeff!
Good to be seen, and I am well pleased with the forum knife - don’t have too many, somehow always seem to miss them 🤦🏻‍♂️.
About that pretty Taylor … well, she’s glaring at me as we speak if that tells you anything.
But I do appreciate the bump back on track, and I’ve picked her up again … !
👍🏼😎👍🏼

W Way-Barney ~ Wayne, Catt is short for the old knife company, Cattaraugus. Named after an Indian tribe, I believe, from Little Valley New York.

Baxter Lamb and Humpy BF 👍

Wow!
You’re a stick artiste!
If you needed a second career, you could be a high end stick maker. As long as it didn’t cut into your fishing time. 😉
Gorgeous, R.
Making me think about Shoulda Coulda Woulda. Late ‘50s, early ‘60s Fender and Gibson guitars were a dime a dozen in pawnshops when I started playing, and now they’re “Holy Grails” that bring huge collector money. Same with Cattaraugus knives. If only I’d have known. Of course I had no money then either…🥴
Nice to see you’re totin that Sabre, Jer.
What’s the scale material? For a while, they were using bone…

Thanks, Jack, it's our most used paring knife in the kitchen, and my wife doesn't seem to understand carbon steel. She leaves it in all manner of damp or even wet conditions. But it still holds up.
All forgivable, Jeff, as long as you’ve got a little bacon grease to rub on the blade. But if she ever tosses it n the dishwasher with other silverware, it’s lecture time.

Your photo yesterday sent me on a google search, and the first results were from Blade Forums. I love that blade shape. One of those at about 5” would make a great belt knife.
Another beautiful sunrise today, happy Friday!

Uh Oh.
Red Sky At Night, Sailor’s Delight~ Red Sky In Morning, Sailor Take Warning.
Old saying from my grandma.

I asked someone else about that knife the other day, but I don’t think they saw it. So please tell me about it ~ is that a new knife from GEC? What do they call it?
Sure looks like one that would be hard to put away.

It is one of the Texas Camp Knife models, 981416. A huge knife, with a 4" main blade, sheepsfoot secondary blade, a punch and a can/bottle opener. The fit and action of the blades is incredible. This is one of Charlie Campagna's SFO from the 98 run, in Antique Yellow Jigged Bone. It took me a while to locate one, but I am very glad to finally have one to use. I had heard the Fit and Finish on these was excellent, but it really exceeded my expectations. Blades fit together perfectly with no rub, and the pull of each blade is just right. Amazing quality work from GEC.
