I'm always impressed by your whittling, but I'm usually impressed by your painting, too! You often paint so that the "facets" from your cuts are "colored" but their edges are white. Do you paint the edges around each facet, or paint, say, the brown over the entire and then remove the paint from the edges, or is there some other technique?

Thank you, the color is typically layered if I want to add depth to the piece. Darker shades as a base then build with lighter shades until I get the effect that I want. The last paint step is dry brushing, a high light color with almost zero paint in the brush. This is the technique for getting all the edges to pop.

Double-Plus-Good Bob

Ive been AWOL in the hospital A and E last week and still struggling.

Bought a new car yesterday, yes Guv its a Skoda.

Not sure I checked it over properly as wasnt up to it,but its got manufacturers warranty and the stereos LOUD (very important)

I keep pressing the wrong buttons and things go off or on by mistake, its to technical for me.

I went out to the PO to register it in my name then did a massive food shop,only to find I had left my wallet at home.

They had to put it all back on the shelf,ooops.

Then I remembered I had some change in the car for honesty tables and homeless people so went for a coffee in a garden centre.

I'm no spring chicken but was a youngster compared to all the blue rinse lady's and velcrow shoes old chaps in the cafe...

They had the biggest christmas section ive ever seen along with bunnys other pets and garden stuff.

Oh the excitement was to much it could have landed me back in the hospital...

Got mixed up and took 2 SAKS.

We had an inch or two of snow this morning, which unfortunately will ruin the illusion that these pics of the girls in their Halloween costumes were actually taken today, on Halloween. Truth is we’ve learned that with school and everything else, if we want decent pics of the kids in their costumes, it’s easier to take them the weekend before Halloween.

Eleanor chose to dress up as Coraline this year. She’s been really into the movie lately (we even got to see a special screening at the theater recently), and she’s been reading the book as well.

Scout’s costume was a bit more… imaginative. I honestly still don’t know how exactly we landed on this as a costume. A while back she asked me, “What kind of penguin is a bat?” and somehow that evolved into her being a penguin-bat for Halloween.

Although it was a bit cold out, we had a nice time trick-or-treating. I had these two with me today, an Albers Lambsfoot in Katalox and a #71 Bull Nose in Muslin Micarta.

Brilliant! I was telling a feller in a Leeds DVD shop yesterday about how imaginative your Halloween costumes are! Never spoke to the bloke before, but he seemed interested!

Random thought: Am I the only one that would probably prefer shieldless knives? I think they look so-so, or just bad on some (most) knives. It would save a step and look so much cleaner in my opinion. Is the tang stamp not enough? I think GEC may be the only ones who consistently execute it well. I get it... apples and oranges. It's like putting Ford Racing decals on a Mustang. Oh, it's a Ford? Yeah, no $#!&. Ok. I'm done. Have a great evening, errbody!

Edit: It's just this knife. The glue? around the shield drives me absolutely crazy.
