What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

TK7o5IC.jpg
Cool knife, Dan. It looks very old.
Is the sheath set up for belt or pocket carry? Both?
Couple of new blades, the Böker is in my pocket. It is a Böker Barlow prime curly birch, number 111942, steel is Böhler N 690. To my surprise it had a slight flaw, the end of the opening cycle was quite tight, but seems to get easier with use. Otherwise the fit and finish is fine, some of the best I have seen.

The Nordic Knife Design Stoat is a project, hopefully I will end up with a modern kwaiken - style knife with a katana - wrap handle. Sheath might be wood (plywood) and covered with fabric or thin leather.

Good project for a day when rain keeps you inside.
You’re giving me ideas…
I like the idea of a slim wood sheath, wrapped in rawhide.
The olther day, in one if those big box stores, I saw a display of huge rawhide dog chews. I mean huge, as in a sheet 3 or 4 ft wide, rolled into a long stick. I could get one, soak it until it’s soft, and use that. Hmmm.

Camillus 23 Big Jackagain. And Farm & Field Bull Buster.
Yes, our Halloween punkin is still out front. Don’t shame me. 🥹 460FB4CE-220A-453E-9AA5-73BD6B605FCD.jpeg
My daughter and I never got around to carving it, and Vik put it on a stump by the walkway for a Thanksgiving decoration. I’m going to take the seeds out and roast them with some coarse sea salt.
Hey Jer screened porch screened porch ~ does this slip qualify as Hippie Stiched? Years ago, I used this as a belt sheath for my flip phone. Phones outgrew it, so I cut off the belt loop. It keeps these two knives from sitting horizontally in my pocket. 9B5941E6-A83A-4CE8-8A65-29DF54A8BC9D.jpegOtter Waxed boonie hat, and Otter Waxed Barbour for a rainy day.C31A1175-8F39-4F89-BF82-85974DD88AE1.jpeg

Keeping the Case 3318 in pocket awhile longer. Adding a Weidannsheil lockback (large) Sod Buster type work knife.
Both are carbon steel. Both require some work on the patinas.

Green & Yella go together ... I remember back in the 1950's to 1970's ... maybe as late as the early 1980's ... AMC/Rambler had optional green and yellow plaid cloth seat upholstery. The honey yellow '72 AMC V-8 (hopped up by a previous owner 304 inch with 4bbl) Hornet 4 door sedan I had was so equipped.😁👍 (I miss that car ... the Eagle AWD station wagon ... Pacer wagon ... blue 258 inch I-6 powered Hornet that I had ... wouldn't mind having the 50's and 60~62 Rambler's my pops had when I was "growing up", and/or the '67 Rambler wagon he had in '78 .... AMC made good reliable cars.)

Weidmannsheil is a dark (non-metallic) "British Racing Green" or "Hunter Green"; not black.

Hope y'all have a great December and beyond. 😁👍

Snowing lightly this morning with a bit more this afternoon and evening. Blowing and shoveling snow shouldn't be too bad. Will clear the driveways later but we're not going anywhere so it's not a priority. I'm still working on my "Gone to Hell - Brought Back by ME" Buck 112. I'm not going to spiffy it up. It has too much character to erase it by shining it up. It's still a good worker and very useful so it'll be on my belt today. Even it's sheath is well worn but still supple and good to go. Sausage and pancakes for breakfast.

Case Knife of the Week is a gum fuddy (aka rough black) canoe (thanks, Alan):

Here's a recently-acquired Case chestnut jigged bone CV trapper that will eventually be added to my weekly rotation schedule in the Case knives category (thanks, Chris):

International Knife of the Week is an oak-handled Opignel No. 8 that my daughter once gave me:

When I get around to updating my rotation schedule, I'll add these 2 French knives I bought with a Father's Day discount (I think):

Thanks for the reminiscing on Ramblers. My uncle gave my Dad a 1950 Oldsmobile that Dad still remembers as “a great car”. 135 hp V8, that was pretty sporty for the ‘50s. Around the time I was born, he bought his first ever new car, a four door Rambler sedan. Just talked to him this morning, and he remembers parking that car outside of the Officer’s housing at Great Lakes Naval Base.
After he left the Navy, we bought two family cars ~ one of his all-time favorites, a used four door Mercedes, and an early ‘60s Mercury station wagon. There was a funky little Morris Minor for a while, but the cars I learned on, and drove around getting in trouble were a huge ‘67 Mercury Colony Park wagon, and a ‘64 Corvair that my uncle had rebuilt. THAT was a fun car. I learned how easily a rear engine car will swap ends on you.
It's December 1st, so I guess I can put my Christmas lights up. All my neighbors, (Both of them), have had theirs up since Thanksgiving, so I better get to it before I get a visit from the home owner's association. :)

I think you’re joking, but I have heard some wild stories about Homeowner’s Associations!
Better get on it to be safe…
