Have a good week everyone
Appealing pair of knives, Jack! I like both blade shapes very much, and both handle materials catch my eye (and won't let go

).

Sweet knife and fob, and that garden ornament reminds me of Treebeard in LOTR!

Like the Lions in so many years. I'm so used to paying no mind to the Detroit Lions, I was astonished to see they had an 8-2 record before their traditional Thanksgiving Day loss.
8-3 still ain't bad.
One more combined thank-you to
@Modoc ED :
You'd need some very precise technique to fight a bear with the tiny trapper. You might be better off charming the bear with it.
Couple more very fine knives, Jer! Kudos to ED for his benevolence!

A little dark brew with my dark brew, please.

That 83 looks fantastic IMHO with that simple leather fob!

You’re very welcome Gary.

Dandy duo!

The Schrade Walden cattle knife is a show-stopper!
Another beautiful day here in the City by the Bay! Just got back from from oral surgery and it went well. Guess
it was five teeth rather than three. Along for the adventure my EO lamb and new Grohmann Mini Russell. Taking it easy today. Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Glad the oral surgery went well; 5 seems like a LOT of teeth all at once.

I had a couple of teeth extracted early this year, a couple of months apart, and each time I spent an entire afternoon chomping on folded gauze to stop the bleeding and applying ice for two 15-minute intervals every hour to try to reduce future swelling. I think dealing with 5 teeth at once would prove too much for this man!
That Tobacco bone looks very nice !
...
Thanks GT. Each one of those tobacco bone handles is a winner.
Thanks, Steve & Jeremy.
Your rotation has been very interesting lately.

I could only wish that had been the case Gary. Unfortunately, my wife did find a way to lose enough to buy a few of them.
I did not enjoy the days before a holiday when teaching either Gary. Most of my students where MIA days before the official start of a vacation.
Thanks for the kind comment on my posted knives, Bob.

Sounds like your wife had a run of bad fortune; did she at least have fun?

The Vic cadet, and a queen #85 that I've been told is likely from the 20's.
That stag fixed blade is very cool!

5K Q I like the rough ryders with out the RR on bolsters, but rough ryder selection in canada is slack at best,and to order from places that ship from states puts the price the same as case and more than buck.
Yeah, the main appeal of RR for me is the relatively low cost. I think they're good knives, but I don't think they have the resale value of Case or Buck knives.
Essential reading if you ever visit Yorkshire Gary!
Word of the Day:

My friend took me to a 'knife shop' in his local town. There wasn't a single traditional knife on sale, but it was like a scene from Mad Max, with every weapon on sale you could imagine. For example, there must have been over a hundred different options for pepper/CS spray, with cannister sizes up to that of a fire extinguisher (as well as grenades), and an endless quantity of batons, coshes, brass knuckles, etc!

All perfectly legal to carry. However, to own a baseball bat, you have to be a member of one of Poland's small number of teams, and
apply for a permit for the bat. Then you may only carry it to and from games, in a locked case!

...
Wishing everyone a good day

SamDamLamb, and a Random Tuesday pick of this Klein Rope Knife gifted to me by
@r8shell
Jack, even with a good "phrase book", I think I'd have some communication challenges in Yorkshire!

I used to see some guys carrying bats in cases at the ball fields and thought they were just "putting on airs". Now I wonder if maybe they were Polish!

Fantastic pair of knives you posted!

When you ask for something accessible, if you don't get it, you're sad, if you get it, you are momentarily satisfied.
When you ask something unrealistic, if you don't get it , you're not sad, only player can win. But it you get it the joy is incredible.
The moral of the story : NEVER BE REALIST !

Thanks so much Charlie
@waynorth and
@Rhidian
Â
Congrats on receiving that sublime Rhidian lambsfoot Barlow!

Thanks, Todd.

I was going to suggest that you run a poll and carry a People's Choice Pair for December, but I'm too late.

I saw this morning (Friday) that you're going with various combinations of knives with Christmas colors this month; that's a great idea!

That swayback is quite a handy knife, as well as stylish.
Both stunners!

Glad you like them GT
5K Qs
and good to see you're working them into your rotation.
They're all very useful and handsome knives, ED!

I have too many knives for any of them to get all the attention and use they deserve.
Thank you, Gary. It was a enjoyable trip spending time with family as well as finding a knife store to browse while there.

Your RR smooth tobacco bone knives are very nice, Rough Rider does smooth bone as well as any IMO.
Today I'm pocketing another new one that I picked up on my travels, a case mini trapper in jigged brown bone. I'm not a big fan of this pattern but it could grow on me.
I really liked the bone on this one and that's what sold me the most. Also packing my GEC 56 dogleg today, one that has seen many days of solid use.
Gonna clean my shop today and maybe work on some hobby projects. Hope all you porchsters have a sunny Tuesday, even if it's bitter cold where you are like it is here.

Thanks, Greg.

Congrats on the new mini trapper!

I rarely carry a full size trapper, but I like the mini trappers quite a lot.
I agree with your thoughts on the clip blade shape, Jeff. I also wish the secondary spay blade wasn't full length as the main blade is. For what ever reason a shorter secondary blade on a two blade jack, whether lambs foot, pen, spay, etc appeals to my taste more.
Tend to agree Jeff, not so keen on the nail-nick being placed high up the blade either. However, if you get a Wharncliffe version you find that's the blade that gets the use
View attachment 2406801
I'm not a big fan of clip blades for reasons I don't understand, so when I use mini trappers, it's almost always the spey blade that I use. If I were ordering a custom mini trapper, I'd probably go for a spey/lambsfoot combo, or maybe spey/Wharncliffe. My thinking on FULL-sized trappers is similar to the view Greg expressed: I'd like a full-sized trapper with one large and one smaller blade. (I think Jeff
Amir Fleschwund
likes some Schrade trappers that have that feature.)
It's interesting that Jeff
black mamba
once sent me a Case mini trapper with a big clip and a small spey - it's really nice. It was originally a mini trapper with clip and cap lifter, but Jeff had the cap lifter swapped with the spey blade on a Case sowbelly to create his legendary Beerbelly stockman!
