Rockin a fine Patina, Pete! All those beauties just keep getting better.
Agreed! Pete's pictures make a persuasive
argument case for carbon steel.
As much as I should be used to this by now, I still have to re-orient my perspective after viewing your miniature versions of everyone else's knives.
Felt like some red bone today:
What a coinkydink!
I had the top knife in my pocket when the bottom knife arrived in today's mail:
A little while back, rockgolfer and I arranged a consecutive borrow-- I sent him my White Owl to try out, and when he returned it he sent along his Workhorse Whittler. There really is nothing else like evaluating a knife in-hand (with the owner's permission to use it), so I am grateful for Jeff's kindness in letting me give this one a go.
... The #79 is nowhere near as cumbersome as I'd feared, and in fact compares very favorably (and then some) to some of my other knives. A nice piece, indeed. :thumbup:
The sight of the criss-crossing long pulls on the Northfield version made the list of "knife features that make me swoon" from the first time I viewed it:
A pleasant surprise: satin-finished blades on a Northfield.
(Does any one know if all the Northfield Workhorse Whittlers have satin blades?)
The knife tube calls the covers "Ruby Red," but in this instance "Blood Red" might be more appropriate. Oops:
(Note to self: Jeff is good at sharpening, and three blades is too many to have open at one time on this knife.

)
This is going to be fun.
