Been a long Sunday... Almost midnight here...my sister took the Labor Day weekend literally...
She went into labor early this morning & blessed us with a new family member
I got a nephew now & have taken on the status as Uncle!

For the more simple carbon and SS steels of our traditional knives I have been having amazing results with the PSA backed 3M aluminum oxide films.
I made my own lapping plates using glass glued to aluminum flat stock.

The optional metal clamps are called "KakBritva" and are available from the Gritomatic store. They are great to hold the smaller blades of our traditionals.
edit: I lubricate ( and also clean ) the film often using mineral oil to extend its life and remove steel residue
