I started out with this CaseXX Barlow, and my Wenger Backpacker II.

Then swapped the old Redbone for Nifebrite.

I'm carving a stick of birch and mourning. This is a labor of sorrow, our much loved dog was euthanized just some days ago. Still he lingers, he is in shadows, walking beside us on paths, at his favorite places at the yard, greeting us when we return home from work. Nudging us with his soft snout, his soft fur under our hands.
I'm sorry to hear that, I've personally been there more times than I care to have been. Honestly one is too many. We just have to do what's the best for them, it's never an easy decision.
You did the right thing by him & I'm sure you gave him a good life. Just remember the good times you had.
We had to put ours down two years ago. It still seems like just the other day. I still look & wait for him sometimes.

We'll all meet again across the bridge someday... 🐾

I had Buck make this at their custom shop after his passing. Thought it would be a good tribute to him. Something as stocky, tough & reliable as he was.

Sorry to hear mate, I had to out my best mate down last December. The knife I’m carry today that I call Ellie’s knife was made with the antler from the first red stag she hunted for me.
It says a lot about a good dog I think.

I finally made it back to the forum. That’s one of my favorite Far Sides! My brand is a little less obtrusive.

It took me extra time to read that backward branding iron you posted this morning.🤣 and Sacto didn't even show ! 🤣
................. or maybe those lambs with fangs scared him off. 🐑 🤣
I had a lot of things to catch up on last week and not a lot of spare time but I’m back now.

I must have subconsciously had this pattern in mind when I started working the metal which was a chunk of leftover table saw blade steel; and a piece of an old axe handle. I used the materials at hand to create this little sidekick. The blade is set into the wood by a channel cut that I made to fit its curvature. The pins are made of roofing nails that hold the knife together quite snuggly. I really like the lines of this little guy. What I like in a work knife, strength for its size and feels good in the hand.

Loving this Bullet End Barlow. The pen blade is large and gets all the work done, the larger blade is my clean blade. My son should be born in a week or two.
I hope all goes well for your wife and son. Those first 5 years are the best. Their growth is amazing and they help renew your sense of wonder about the world.
Your bullet is my favorite of the series.
