What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I woke up to find that I was already about 3 days behind in this thread; time sure flies when it's almost 50 degrees in February!
Canoes of the Week are a Case amber bone CV classic and a Rough Rider with "ram's horn bone" covers:

Question:
How does the RR "Rams Horn Bone" feel in hand compared to the Marbles with real Rams Horn covers?
I no you have the Marbles Rams Horn canoe in your fleet.
Does one feel better in hand than the other?

I wouldn't say one feels better to me than the other, but I think they feel different. Here are photos of the pile side of each, RR hornbone followed by Marble's ram's horn:

The RR feels like bone jigged to have ridges, but the ridges have smooth, gradual edges to them. The Marble's feels rougher to me with ridges that are "sharper". Also, my particular Marble's canoe has that massive "exclusion" or "divot" or "crater" which catches my attention, visually and tactilely, every time I carry it.

I suppose the situation is similar to that of the comparison of stag bone to stag. I think I can often feel a difference, but I like both cover materials, especially when the stag bone is "done well". (I think RR's stag bone these days is far superior to what it was 10-12 years ago.)

Been a little absent lately. After returning home from my Dad’s funeral my younger brother passed away so another couple of weeks taking care of his arrangements has taken up my free time. Spent this last weekend enjoying myself in Pendleton Oregon at a birthday celebration at the rodeo grounds. Finally something fun!! I don’t drink bourbon but I grabbed this for a co-worker who covered my duties at work. I thought if I’m heading to the rodeo grounds I’d better at least carry a calf roper for the weekend…

Really sorry to hear that. Bad sometimes likes to lump up. Hoping things get better for you and yours.
