What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

The lure of ebony was too great for me. I grabbed my copperlock. I was going to dig out my NYK small sleaveboard whittler, but....

Cool. Glad you didn't take my question as a criticism. It's just that I recently got my first alox SAK (a Soldier) and it occurred to me that - blade vs. blade - it's pretty much like my Sodbuster Jr., but with the additional ability to open a bottle of beer! Anyway ...... :)

No criticism, just an honest question upon looking at my picture ;-)
And i think everybody should appreciate criticism anyway.

The vic alox series are solid knives, I just dislike the split ring on them, like the bail on the wenger much more. The bottle opener is an essential tool here in germany, no good beer should come with twist off caps :D

Today I carried my old vic bantam out of nostalgia ( I know some of you will laugh at me for calling it that :o)

I learned my sharpening skills on this knive as you can see :p

There's no ring on the Soldier (as you surely know). Hey, no need to tell me about bottle openers - I may be a Florida Cracker, but I live a bit east of you, in Prague. I'll give up my bottle opener (and Czech pivo) when they pry my cold, sober hands from off it! :p

Barehead Slimline Trapper and a Peanut. Both yellow, both CV.

Peanut trimmed some strings, did some whittling while I was thinking about the project I was working on at work.

Trapper cut up my apple, and sliced up a big pile of boxes so I could get them out from between the fridge and the garbage can. Sheesh, some people just leave stuff lying around anywhere.

Case Yeller CV stockman.
It worked well today.

Went painting.
I sat under a tree and contemplated the Jordan River before I painted.
So I whittled a piece of eucaliptus, to get the view.

These have become the regulars for me

Suit or no suit - the rancher sits in the RF pocket and the Swing Guard in the back pocket supported by the wallet.

I love your EDC Luke Skywalker (The Empire Strikes Back) Lightsaber. Now that's a blade that will cut.....:)

Well, I've come to grips on the fact that while I may toil with different knife patterns at times, I am a die-hard Peanut man. I've carried a Stockman, Soddie Jr., Wenger SI, Schrade 3OT, and Vic Super Tinker these past two weeks, but in the end, it is the Peanut that returns to my pocket. I guess it's my most handled and worked knife, so it's like a perfect fit for me. So today, I am once again carrying my Bone Stag SS Case Peanut.

Got out a knife I haven't carried in a long time today. Boker Whittler, in rosewood. That and my Case barehead slimline trapper went the distance today. Boker cut the straps some lath was wrapped in. Whittled on some cottonwood. Trapper cut some meat and cheese at lunch.

Peanut bit me really badly on Friday. I still like it a lot in general, though it made me giggle when I first got it out of the box. I like that it is made like a big knife, though it is so small. But the handle is just too skinny and short. This is the second time I've had it twist while making a cut, get lost in my grip, and bite me. My mitts aren't huge, but for day-to-day use, I really just need more handle. It is so slick, rounded, and nice to feel in the pocket, that I will still carry it, but not as much as I have since it got here two weeks ago, and probably only for very light-duty stuff.

Friends,

Today I'm carrying a Bose/Case Collab, in the "Muskrat" pattern. Jigged bone. Can you say..."Way Sharp"? I have 2 of the muskrats, and of course the first time I got one, I started opening it up, "just to see and feel the walk and talk". After about the 3rd time, I really wasn't looking when I closed it, I donated a bit of my thumb-knuckle skin to the cause! Bled like a stuck hog! :thumbdn:

To me, the Bose/Case collabs are some of the finest production knioves made. :D

Today a Camillus 14 and a Case 6292. Something of a redundant combo, but I have had them both less than a week and and still trying to decide which one I like best. Both are wicked sharp. The Case has a bit of gap at the pivot on the main blade and some wobble, but it is still very usable for light duty office uses.

Today it is an old Valley Forge Easy/Open jack with black (celluloid)? handles. Stainless blades but does get very sharp,

I'm using this one today. 6208 half whittler. It was a gift from my wife. Probley not one I would have picked for myself but the more I carry it the more I like it. I guess I don't know whats best for me.;)
