What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Headed to Hebgen "Quake" lake today on a big driving loop to see family with our daughter and Cleo. I know better than to drive into Yellowstone today, it will be quite a zoo. These two that Jerry Halfrich made for me should do just fine,

Hidalgo front lock in Mike Norris "Hornet's Nest" stainless damascus(19c-27, 302, and D2) and a Jack Russell in M4 at 62Rc, both in exceptional old growth redwood burl. Sheath by the great Paul Long.

Have a great weekend folks!

Lookin' good. Chis. Enjoy the day with your family.
I think I'll carry my little Halfrich "Jack Russell" today. I'll be working on the garden with my son, Joe. My wife (his mom) will be preparing for his 32nd birthday party tomorrow.

Today's carry ; Paper under the Case Saddlehorn and 77 Barlow copied from Meako's posting on the " Is this a Barlow " thread

MT - I have always enjoyed Redwood Burl. Those are great examples of it.

Back to the 73 today.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

This Case Tuxedo does a bunch of work in a small package, I reach for it probably the most as people at the post office don't seem to mind that one coming out to cut some tape when I'm wrapping up a package there ;) Took her out for a walk, sunny day today here in the NE

Gorgeous knife and sheath Gary .

This City Knife and brand new Pioneer are helping me in the yard today.

This thread zips along so quickly that sometimes I don't even pretend to keep up-- I pick a relatively recent page, and start from there. 'Tis a good problem, though; it heartens me to know so many are carrying traditional knives every day, and taking the time to share them here. It's always a pleasure to return and soak in page after page of pocketed knives. :)

I have a Mini Candian in black micarta; a surprise from plk7. Not only was the fact of the knife a surprise, but -- never having seen one-- I laughed right out loud when I went to withdraw the substantial-for-the-knife's-size handle from the sheath, and the handle kept coming and kept coming, and then finally there was that wee, perfect blade at the end of it. ... I love the blade-to-handle proportion on this one.

This will be with me, the Cranberries got devoured already......

Stunning picture, stunning knife. Not in that order. :)

Swayback today

What a great shot.

A well balanced knife.

:D
(Man, those #38 whittlers look sweet. Such coives!)

Lyle commissioned a great knife with this one I feel, big shout too to Barry for his service and help!

Yes, that's a looker; the bone makes it look "old" in all the right ways, from the get-go.

There ya go.

I'm carrying the ebony 77 today and working on waterproofing the sheath on my new custom from Leif Lambertson (Leiflj on here).

As good as the knife looks in the above picture, this is the one that got me:

Yowzah, that's striking. Congrats!

Carrying the #36 again today - this little beast has really grown on me:

HOg6XN.jpg

Funny how the #36s go from honkin' big to just right in one's estimation, the more one uses them. At least, that's been my experience. Nice one.

Calzones cold beer and cutlery. btmccutcheon and myself meeting for good conversation and good food.
Yes, all of these were carried today.

Chris

Looks a great time! I'm happy for you guys, and wish y'all were closer.

So I read the rules again and can't quite decide if this is a "traditional", but the patent is from the 60s and I figured y'all would enjoy it, so here it it. My new, pretty beat up, Barry Wood. I love this knife and got it cheaper than I imagined. My dad used to have the colt version I remember playing with as a kid and he later traded it for a randall. Such a cool, unique knife to me. Pretty micarta too. May try to fix it up a little

Okay, I've looked and looked, and remain confused.

The blade(s) open past the spine...? And where does that odd-looking second blade go when the knife is closed? An interesting piece, indeed. Can you 'splain some more?

My Swayback Gent!

Carried the ebony version to work today. Still trying to convince myself I like it.

Hmmm, if the knife isn't pleasing to your eye, you may not ever warm up to it. It happens, with the fortunate thing being, as you note, there are so many other great choices out there. (If it had been a matter of feel, I would have recommended the two-bladed two-bladed Jack in comparison to the Gent; its the additional width [due to the secondary pen blade] makes the Jack more comfortable to me in hand.)

Finally got my Washington Jack back from GEC...

Whew! Should I be afraid to ask...?

This little cracker came in the post this morning . .

Cool knife!

My carry for today, as it has been for days in a row now.

It's officially a pocket hog! Fortunately, in addition to its beckoning curves, it sports way-useful blades.

WOW, definitely some beauties for the weekend!! I'm carrying the Davison swayback again as I have to work and it disappears so easily in the pocket. For tomorrow however, it will probably be something else. I'm mad at missing the mail today...I got the pink notice that they missed me to sign for a package. Guess I'll have to wait until Tuesday to pick it up...then I'll be sure to carry and post pics!!

Why aren't you taking pictures for knife companies?????

Swayback Jack in Crimson today:

It is just one blade. Try googling Barry Wood colt swing knife maybe. Maybe some more pictures will help. Here it is from closed to open at several stages of opening

As for the SBG, I already traded it with another forum member. Hoping he will use it more. Such a pretty knife not to get carried.

a-HA. My brain just couldn't make sense of what I was viewing before.

(In my limited defense, I did have a digging iron fall on my noggin recently, and am still recovering.)

The above pictures clear it up.

Thanks!

Wonderful knives today all. Picked this one up off the exchange since I was lacking some mammoth bone, in the pocket today for yard work and running errands.

Have a great weekend folks!

These are fantastic, Beautiful

Sarah, you are right about this thread. It's chock a block with alluring carry, and so much of it, you turn your back for a few days and reams pass by:eek::thumbup:

Thank you for your kind comments on the 38s. Your Ivory Bone version makes me distraught, it's such fine stuff and with major ageing potential, I would've liked one but could not run to it. What with postage costs and a hefty import-tax I couldn't afford it and the other two, but greed is not dignified I try to tell myself..:D:D

I was carrying a Stag Mini Copperlock today, no pics sorry. Miserable weather - gale force storms and rain, so I changed the robot mower's blades in the garage. It's amazing that three tiny box cutter like blades spin round and cut the grass silently, automatically even at night if you want.No fumes, no grass collecting, no roaring engine and no insects devouring me while mowing, bliss! If only the weather would settle down....
