Just picked this beauty up from the post this am...and into my pocket it went! This is a scaled down Jess Horn pocket fighter lockback that Joel Chamblin just finished up for me. I'll do a write up on this one later, as it certainly deserves it.

What a stunner, I look forward to hearing more.

Here's a Le Thiers that Gary Graley put up on the Exchange a while ago. I really like this knife. I particularly like the locking arrangement on these. I'm curious what it's called. The spring has a protrusion that drops into a notch in the tang, when open. Similar to a lock back but without the release. It provides some extra protection to unintentional closing. You close it just like you would any slipjoint. It takes a little extra umph to disengage the lock.

dont know whats its called, but a great French knife!

Gary I've been impressed by Chambriard's characteristics: they're quite easy to open (smooth too) but require extra effort to close. Just the way it should be. I still mourn the loss of my Stag one MIA somewhere, can't find a replacement with such nice Stag either. At least I still have the Ebony one.

Thanks, Will

Gev Thank you, mine's le compact but I do have le compagnon in Ebony too. It is considerably bigger and more like a coat pocket or pack carry, fine pic-nic knife mind:D

As mentioned multiple times, that Chamblin is a true STUNNER. Congrats panther!

I haven't owned a ton of traditionals, especially compared to a lot of folks here. But this Centofante is quite possibly the finest knife I've ever owned, regardless of price or style. I'm immensely fortunate to have the privilege of carrying it. (thanks again Chuck ;))

Beautiful knife! (Good looking Bronco back there, too. :) Nice photo!)

Thanks it's my first French knife and I'm impressed. It's a Le Thiers Compact made by Chambriard.

I agree, Will. It's that semi lockback construction that they use. I'm quite impressed with the design.

Will and Gary

Very special knives indeed! Are these the Compact or Companion models?

Thanks, Gev. The one I have is the Compact also. It has the file worked back spring also. It's 3 3/4". A nice size for the pocket and very usable. The spiffy sheath that Gary Graley made is a nice complement to it.
