What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Carried these three to exercise and coffee with friends this morning .

Then back to the 73s for this afternoon

Harry

Very nice, tell us more :)

It was a simple Klein electrician's knife with deteriorating plastic handles. The scales are Elk antler. This job was an epoxy only as I just pried off the old handles and drilled holes for the pins. I did not re-pin this knife, so I just glued the scales on. Next time I will try pinning the scales, baby steps.

Got this little Ohta with me today, and most everyday, along with a few others that were posted in another thread.

That Ohta is nice. Love how the straightforward shield meshes with the more complex looks of the handle and bolster. Really good looking knife.

Nice to see some of your work again Mateo

Cool pic :)

Mr. Jack that wood handled knife is beautiful ! Who is the maker ?

Thanks Mr P, made by Joseph Haywood of Sheffield, a gift from an absent friend of ours. I really like it too, it's very slim and light, and old :) Congratulations on that great-looking Thomas Turner, and I see it is in fine company

Thanks for the reply :) Nice job, you got a good-looking knife out of it. Good luck with your future projects

Very attractive duo, Dean! (Is 2-knife carry a change for you?)

Thanks, Gary. I like the look of that LF&C!

I usually carry one or two knives (not including my Vic Classic on keyring). A Presidential is always with me for the last two months. Frequently, I add another knife on a whim.

These two.

Nice working TC Barlow you have there.

I carried this 83 along with the Presidential on my hike today.

TsarBomba, I actually got the Imperial from my wife 2 years ago, and it started me down this pocket knife hobby path. She got it from her father sometime in the late 1970s or early 1980s, she thinks, after he decided to replace that knife with a new one for his daily carry. The Rough Rider is just a big (3 7/8 inches closed) sheepsfoot/pen jack; it's just like a hawkbill pruner RR offers, but with the hawkbill straightened out (hence the Halfhawk name). I do have a Spanish Joker in carbono, but it's quite a different style: 4" closed, olive wood covers, somewhat different blade shape.
Hope you get an increase in discretionary time soon. That Barlow is splendid!
...
I tend to prefer two-blade knives, but the simple perfection of that pair is remarkable, TB!!!:thumbup:

More knives in my pockets this week:
Schrade USA 34OT (thanks, Dave)
Vic Farmer
LF&C tiny pen

Thanks, GT! More often than not I carry multi-blade traditionals, but I'm enamored with the sheepsfoot Case since I got it and that sweet swedged Queen 'pick is a statement knife in my favorite color. I may have to tote its green jigged bone cousin in the coming weeks, too. :D

Seems like that Imperial is emblematic of your love for your wife and what it has brought you, which makes it a priceless old knife regardless of construction.

Loving the color of the alox on your Vic. The LF&C has a ton of character, and those blades look like they're barely used. Your stable of Jokers is also outstanding. I am inspired to investigate (translated: "spend a bunch of money on") that make of knife.

Three customs for me today.
These blades remind me to be thankful for the caring, supportive, generous people in my life.

The stories behind the blades are often the best thing about collecting. In this case, though, it might be the combination of that gorgeous green on the Hampton swayback and that fiery burnt orange on the fisherman.

That fish shield is awesome^^ First time I have ever seen that. I need to get me a knife with a fish shield!]

Here's a crop of a dealer's photo of a lot I purchased that included an old Imperial fish knife. The scales cleaned up nicely and after some minor cleaning of the steel the patina will be the only real indication of its age. Not in the same class as puukkoman's great custom, obviously, but an inexpensive way to fulfill that fish fetish. :D

That Klein rope knife look amazing in its new pants!

I've been missing everyone here lately, what free time I've had has been shared with my lady and the shooting range of late.
One of my favorites from Evan...to say this liner-less svelte 15-sized knife is light in the pocket would be grossly understated.

That Esnyx line has got some absolute gems in it. What a unique construction, I'll bet it floats in the pocket and it's awfully stylish too.

We sure do have some great knife builders and modders in this forum.

Today I have the ancient Barlow, already with one important cutting task under its belt!

In the long, distinguished history of the Barlow, many users have utilized their short, stubby jackknives to access sustenance of all kinds. It's the circle of life! :p

Even those Reese's were better with a Barlow, weren't they... :D

I'm carrying these two today

The stag on your forum knife is just perfect, but I must know more about that precious patina'd pocketeer with the wood grain!

My new Case Sod Buster Jr. CV in Chestnut bone finally came in the mail today. I'm pretty excited since this is my first traditional slip joint, but I can tell now that it will not be my last. Has a nice snap to it and is very light in the pocket. It will make a good companion to my Grohmann #1 Canadian belt knife & Granfors Small Forrest Axe while in the woods. Here are a couple pictures I took with my cell phone, they're not great.

That's a beautiful junior! It looks like a slightly darker, shielded version of my only bone soddie which I posted in the dedicated thread here. Great choice, and welcome to the porch! :)

Thanks for the comments on the Seahorse Whittler mitch4, Primble, Tsar and GT. Thanks for the comment on the IXL Joe.
...
Today I thought I'd carry the Douk-Douk I got for Christmas. I thought it reminded me of a knife I already had. Sure enough. A G. Schrade Hunting and Fishing Knife.

That's awesome, Ken, I never even put two and two together with those before. You've got yourself a candidate for the notable pairs thread for sure. ;)

Today's carry! :D

That Hay'n Helper keeps trying to indoctrinate me into the cult of the sheepsfoot, yet I resist! :p

Today's carry: Case Seahorse Whittler in caramel bone and CV, and my GEC #15 Huck Finn in antique yellow bone (sheepfot main, pen secondary)

Two absolute beauties there. That's some major_style, indeed. :p

Rough Rider - White Bone peanut and pruner.

The RRs in this thread have definitely gone a long way towards completely reversing my opinion about their products. Thinking about the fit and finish on my sawcut RR Barlow at home, I suppose I should have known better. It's a solid, sharp (in both respects) little knife. I'm already addicted to the dogbone jack I keep seeing but can't even find in stock to purchase, and that mini-Barlow is almost certainly going to end up in my stable too, along with that swayback half-hawk from earlier in the thread. :p
Some outstanding wood grain on that beer scout!
Carried these three to exercise and coffee with friends this morning .
What a sweet trio of traditionals! :p
Tony Bose Zulu fixed blade, handled by Rick Menefee in green micarta and thin orange liners, sheath by Larry Parson's and a Alox Lumberjack
Another grand green alox Vic there, and the Bose is a special knife for sure!

Today I was accompanied by a pair of Queens (#19 "EO" trapper, #32 congress) in the RHP and LHP while the Wingen Barlow (not pictured here, it's already getting an ego from all the older pics) "rides watch".

Really fine 83 that one, I do like that bone jigging. I opted for Stag and landed a beauty, but otherwise I would've desired one in that bone. Sadly, couldn't afford both, something to look out for though.

Thanks, Will

Thanks, Will. I was drawn to this one the first time I saw one.
