Nice carries today everyone.

For some reason I feel like going fishing:D:thumbup::thumbup:

Thanks Gev, beautiful Barlow today!

Very much apprecated!!

...and this little guy, that a friend just brought back for me from his trip to Rome. He bought it in Tuscany. The handles are covered with a thin sheet of horn. I think it's gorgeous.

Outstanding images and knife from Tuscany!!

I like the duality there. Old and new, yin and yang, Frick and Frack. :D An excellent pair of Barlows.

Feels like I’ve got miles to go before I sleep today, and my cutters are acting more as stress-stones than slicers. Given that, I think I picked a pretty decent pair.

Happy Thursday, everybody!

Tsar - Thank you and that Russell is a dandy!

Mark - Two very good looking knives my friend. Well done!

The Bose coffin jack is a real marvel but I will always have a soft spot for Charlows.

Likewise on charlows :) Great looking sawcut on your Russell Barlow,

Hope your Thursday is a good one! I am totin' these 2 today. :D

Some tip top barlow choices you have today Ron, great Thursday choice

Tim, that coffin jack has got me drooling. That is one stunning knife!

I've carried this pair for about two weeks straight. I think I'll give the presidential some much needed pocket time tomorrow.

The 77 and 71 have gained some real character over time, two weeks straight! :O I rotate daily generally xD
Thank you, I'm still enjoying it thoroughly.

A beauty by Reese Tim !!!:)

I've been using a GEC 72 Cody jack for the last few weeks.

The 72 pattern is a great size Luke, I rotate one with my father and he and I both like the feel in hand.

Here was the carry still in the pocket today.
Some very nice worry stone wormgroove bone in a modded S&M

Dean you have quite a classy duo there today.

Thanks, Ron.

The last coupla days, I've taken the Farmer's Jack out of the pocket slip where it usually lives with a small fixed blade (Patriot), and dropped it into my right front pocket nekkid. Hard-pressed, I've found myself wanting it near-er somehow.

When asked, I identified this Farmer's Jack as my knife of 2015; I'd be shocked if its smaller blue companion here, received in early December '15, doesn't maintain its instant reign throughout all of 2016.

Not that I've put down the Farmer's Jack, yet.

Sarah,I always like to see your Ivory bone Farmer's Jack. Especially the photos of it outside in the sun.

I keep my Antique Amber one at hand when I'm home and occasionally when out and about. They are hard to ignore.

Dean. :) Your double dark duet is definitely distinguished!!

A Rough Rider whittler:

- GT

Thanks, GT. That RR whittler is a sharp. They do make good looking knives.

Thank you my friend, that's a very nice combination :)

Thanks, Jack.

That's good of you Sarah. You can't have a knife looking pristine from being carried in a slip with a blade looking nice and used like that. It's all about balance! A few small marks on the bolsters, some marks on the shield, changing color of the bone, etc. Let it breath!

Hah! Actually, it already has more than a few small marks on it, just because (I am hard on my things, in my day-to-day goings along). Even more, any pocket-slip carry for me is a purely matter of convenience, not an attempt to preserve a given knife's outer trappings. :) For now, I have suddenly found it welcome to reach in and grab the knife vs. having to retrieve it, if that makes sense?

Otherwise, it rides like this-- a consistently favorite pairing, whatever else I may have in my pocketses:

Beautiful pairing today:thumbup::thumbup::D

Thank you, Mr. G. :)

The love you show to your FJ has me wanting one....

Have you considered commissioning a custom with a shield version of that owl charm?

I am still surprised by how much I do love this knife, given that it ticks so few of my default Preference boxes(!).

An owl shield? Hmmmmmmm.

Thanks! It's creamier in person than it appears in most photographs. I look forward to longer, warmer days, and better chances at capturing this knife and others in favorable lighting. Also just longer, warmer days!

Say, I seem to have missed this Russell along the way. I have one like it!

Rory was born 15/12/14 (in Europe it's day/month/year) so I got two 151214s one for him and one for me :)

That is so cool!

Beautiful knives as usual everybody.
I changed things up a bit this morning and grabbed some stainless. This was taken during today's hike. Maybe 20 minutes after this picture was taken I got caught in a hail/ rain storm and had 3 miles left on the trail. :grumpy:

Been there before SSS. Me and my girlfriend got caught in a good downpour last year a few miles out. We didn't care once we saw how much the dog loved running through the flash puddles that formed on and around the trail. He kept us quite amused!

Nice covers on that one!

Thanks Jake. Yeah thankfully I didn't have my dog with me. If the weather just hints that it might rain she's hiding under the bed for six hours.

Congratulations on the Randall Aias

Thank you, sir, I’m just a few minutes from officially having survived the day (though not the week, not just yet... :o).

I think I could handle living on baked beans for a while if there were such a wealth of quality cutlery nearby. :D

Hope you make it OK :)

Yes, I need to make another trip to Sheffield, maybe next week :)

Beautiful Barlows!

Weird English weather continues  Woke up to more snow today, after a beautiful Spring-like day yesterday. Who knows what the afternoon will bring  I should be prepared hopefully ;)

Congratulations on the Randall Aias

Thanks so much--funny thing is, for fixed blades, I've been squarely in the Busse camp... or is it a primal horde? Yet, since the Randall has passed into my hands, it has not left my belt (law permitting). The O1 acquires a beautiful patina with every use--I intend imbue that blade with much character and fond memories.

Anthony

Decided to get this one out. It's lightweight, I like the bone and the moderate Hawkbill is actually surprisingly useful not just for gardening tasks. I'd like to see a Traditional with a small Pruner as secondary. For wire-stripping, fishing tasks, box opening and hard plastic shells, a small Pruner excels.

Outstanding images and knife from Tuscany!!

Thanks, Gev. :) I appreciate that, means a lot coming from you, what with the nice pics you regularly post.

Here are my companions for today.

And a better shot of the Wharncliffe with its carry rig:

^^ I really love this one, but don't carry it as often as I should. It's a true Wharncliffe, not only in terms of its blade profile, but also its pattern, as originally per Lord Wharncliffe's specs. :D

Is that a 53? I was wondering if you know when Northfield started making them with the grooved and slanted bolsters. I've got a 53 in blue oyster acrylic from 2007 that has plain bolsters despite being a Northfield.

Nice pic Will . And agreed regarding the pruner, I have a SAK Harvester with a small pruner and it goes through that awful plastic packaging amazingly well.
