Nice group of knives GT! I like the dark green on the sak, and that imperial is really neat. Those tl29s look like great knives, too. I've always thought about picking one up, but the tools would be a bit redundant. I always have a leatherman on me, and if for some reason I don't have the LM I will have a sak(or two) on me.
Thanks, Erik. :) I agree that the tools on a TL-29 are redundant, since I always carry a SAK, but I think my black-handled Camillus is one of the best-looking knives I own!

Not really. I use the clip blade as a general purpose blade. And the zulu spear works well for that.
Thanks for your opinion on the Case Humpback Stockman, Frank.

Thanks Harry, it is Red:D I love this knife and when Mark first sent it to me (over a year ago I think?) I was blown away. I love Red, the blade is solid and centered and the Keen Kutter stamp is so deeply stamped...I love everything about this Barlow, being gifted from Mark...PRICELESS!!!
Congrats on finding your red Keen Kutter, Paul!

You always manage to come up with the coolest Imperials and RRs. This time, the yeller soddie is the surprise. I've never seen one from Imperial, is it one of the Taylors? I may have to run one down.
...
Day #1 of my one-traditional EDC challenge week. They said D2 doesn't easily take a patina, something about some high chrome eeyums or something. I don't know what those chrome eeyums are smokin' but my little Queen took a surprise patina after its first day of serious use. My modern stayed "clipped" the whole day and suddenly the master's got some character, though somehow so did the mark side bolster...

Thanks, TB. :) That little yellow sodbuster is indeed an Imperial from Taylor LLC. I haven't used it hard yet, and maybe it would disintegrate under hard use, but so far it seems incredibly solid, and costs in the single digits. Good luck with your Queen stockman in the Challenge!

...
You're as observant as always my friend, the font indicates an ancient building or monument. I couldn't help thinking, your Sunday carry was very work-orientated. I've had a couple of those Imperial Sodbusters, and they're good little knives

I thought I might take stock of my Stockman knives this week, starting with this Boker. Hope everyone has a good week

Thanks for solving my cartographic conundrum, Jack. :) And I think you're correct that I have some affinity for "working knives", maybe because I grew up using a knife often on a farm, even though my adult career almost never requires a knife of any style.
I like your Week of the Stockman idea! ;) The Boker and the TEW you've carried so far strike me as rather unique; I don't see many stockmen with tortoise covers, not do I see many stockmen in a shadow pattern.

In anticipation for the mailwoman, I'm carrying this 85 HJ today and for the last couple of days.

Majestic Harness Jack, Jake!

Thanks GT, that is some fine ALOX yourself sir, love the green!

A Rough Rider scout with me today, a stout and very capable worker.

Thanks, Tom. :) Another day, another fantastic Bark 'n Scout in a Sheath for you!

Great photo of grand knives, Gev; stopped me in my scrolling tracks!

Great knives everyone!

Nice Vic's Tom and GT.

I going to take the one week challenge so I'm going solo with a Colonial Ranger Stockman today.

Have a good one all!

Ken K.
Thanks, Ken. Good luck with the challenge and your Colonial.

I took this quick photo of today's knife in a parking lot. Just as I started snapping the photo a woman got into her van right in front of me. She must have thought I was taking a photo of her as she put her hand up in front of her face. So wrong.

Excellent knife, Dean, and the story made me laugh out loud! :D

...
I got this ole Catt in the mail this morning and it had beige paint specks all over the bone. It took me about three hours to eliminate it. :grumpy:

The work you put in seems well worth it, Primble; congrats on another astounding knife!:eek::thumbup: Your knives always have unusually richly-colored bone!!

Stuffed this in my pocket as soon as it arrived.

Congrats on your glowing new 85, Harry!

I have had this Sheep keeping me company today. :) And a long hard day it has been.

Splendid sheepsfoot, Ron! I hope today is shorter and easier for you!

I got this well loved red bone 42 in today, and it's the first 42 I've laid hands on. It sure is a stunner!

That's a big, beefy beauty, Jeff!

Me, I have just mostly carried my Sportmesser. It just works for me!

The Boker and the Hartkopf are both outstanding, A.L.!!

A pleasure GT! :D  I think that regularly using knives gives a better perspective in terms of their design :) The Stockman have been neglected recently! :D That's acrylic on the Boker, I think they did a nice job of it :) TEW still make that Stockman I think, pretty tough knife

I like your working knives again, particularly the Imperial

Congrats on a classic! Hard to beat that one for an edc imo.

"Is the Case bonestag or just the “natural jigged bone”? I imagine it’s the latter but due to the smallish surface area of the bone on that frame it might go either way. I like that Ike but the Rodgers steals the show. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a saber-ground hawk before and that is one of the more intriguing patterns I’ve seen on a clamshell."

The Ike is bonestag to the best of my knowledge. Jack Black asked if the Rodgers was Ebonite and I don't know enough about Rodgers' knives in general or Ebonite in particular to accurately answer that question. I know enough to understand that a lot of the regulars here on the Porch have forgotten more about Traditional knives than I currently know.

Rub the Rodgers' scale hard with your thumb for a few seconds. Then put it to your nose. If it's ebonite, it'll smell like burning rubber.

Black-and-white (and a little red) today. It is supposed to storm for the next 5 days, so I am going to try for more colorful pairings the rest of the week in an attempt to keep cheerful :).

It isn't Ebonite, it's a clam-shell produced in the same era as these Regimentals

In my opinion, they owe far more to Imperial (who owned the Rodgers name at this time) than to Joseph Rodgers, a great old Sheffield company which had seen infinitely better days. Note the Moore Street address on the ad above, it's the Richards factory. Richards had produced clamshell knives for many years, but only produced sabre-ground ones (marked as Richards, Imperial England, or in this case Rodgers) in their final years, after the take-over by Imperial

GT
Thanks for the fine compliment! I think the RR trapper looks to be a very capable knife:thumbup:

Jack
The stockman today are two beauties! The Boker acrylic is quite nice indeed:D

Chui

That Paulson is spectacular!

A.L.
The HArtkopf is amazing and get me excited every time I see it:thumbup:

Dean
Looks like a good day;)

Tom
That pair will certainly brighten your day...it did mine:D

Such a great whittler. I like the little "copperhead-ish" sweep at the secondary side. Gives it that little extra flair.

Devine!

Mark
That is so sweet! The grinds on the blade are captivating and that stag...wow!!!:thumbup::thumbup:

As always, super knives everyone.

My week's new knife is a GEC #153215. Knifebrite definitely brings out the cool factor of a GEC#15.

I've been off and on the forums lately. Sometimes when I'm not doing well, I have a hard time focusing on the computer so I end up just logging off. Having said that, I want to thank everyone for the fine compliments on my new Ohta the last couple days. I just don't want folks thinking I'm ignoring them. Much love to everyone here. :D

What a fine knife and I am enjoying the boat pictures!! Who is the maker on that one?

Thanks, Gev! I enjoy taking them. ;)
That's the Sardinian resolza that Fausto helped me to procure a few years ago, made by Silvano Usai.

You did it again. Is that Case some sort of mini-seahorse whittler? What pattern is it? I'm unclear if that's bone stag or the Case-versioned Winterbottom they market as "vintage bone". It's a real eye-catcher, though.

Uh-oh... What have I done again??

Thanks for your interest, Tsar.

That one's a Case Classic, limited edition made by Queen in 1994. It's a 5355 pattern Wharncliffe whittler with stag covers 3 13/16" length, Wharncliffe main opposed by two modified coping blades. The stag is a beautiful, mellow, golden color, and it's only getting better over time. This one's super cool, too, because it's serial number 0000.

This one came to me by way of a kind and generous fellow forumite who posted it in a GAW a few years back (you know who you are... Cheers and thanks again, mate!).

With a little searching, you can find these still from time to time for sale on the web, secondary market obviously, in various handle options. And the Queen-made Case Classics were done in several patterns over the years, all top quality from what I've seen.

Here are a few more pics. Please pardon the fingerprints and smudges.... I wiped it down before I put it back into its leather slip, I promise. ;) This is one of the only knives that I carry in a knife-purse, but I think it's a cool one and worthy of the blade.
