What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Lotta beauties here, fellas, making this thread a real joy to browse.

These came with me up to NY today, working on another one of our tug boats' radar systems.

Stuffed this in my pocket as soon as it arrived.

This thread moves so fast it's hard to keep up! Some really beautiful knives here, but Bob, that gunstock is fantastic! Very nice indeed.

There were a couple questions on this knife; it is a 73L pattern from 2011 that I had re-handled in pre-ban elephant ivory. It is actually bark ivory, so must be the tip of the tusk. It tapers beautifully and came out just about as beautiful as I could have hoped. It is sitting on a leather wrapped lead cylinder that weighs about 5 lbs. that I use to hold a leather piece while I'm attempting to carve it. There's another plain one in the background.

That certainly is a fine 73 Barry !!!! I am sure glad someone asked a question about it !!!

Thank you Mr. Jack and a very nice stockman. Hope I did not jinx you on the work ! ;):D

Beauty of a knife !:)

A fine HJ Jake. :thumbup::)

and some mighty fine gooses I say !!!:thumbup::)

Barry - a beautiful Ivory knife and nice to see the leather master's work place !:)

I got this ole Catt in the mail this morning and it had beige paint specks all over the bone. It took me about three hours to eliminate it. :grumpy:

I see from my pics that I have more work to do. :o

I was hoping from the sale pics that it was dirt, but, one always has to expect paint on an old knife. :o Anyway - it is coming along nicely I guess.

Thanks Gevo, Primble, Tsar & GT. Starting to feel better.

Bob that Ohta is stunning! Wow!

... And for Tom... This one's for you since my first City Knife got here today :)

Thanks Gev. I need to get some shots in better lighting, but here are a couple more.

Bob - So this is what "Buy myself something nice" looks like! Nice is an understatement my friend, an understatement indeed!:D

Primble - That Catt is a great old knife. Just think that 3 hours you spent on that knife might have keep you from getting in trouble at the diner!:D

I have had this Sheep keeping me company today. :) And a long hard day it has been.

I got this well loved red bone 42 in today, and it's the first 42 I've laid hands on. It sure is a stunner!

Awesome Mike!!! Congrats

I am very much looking forward to hearing your impression of it. I find them to excel as slicers, and the convex grind easy to maintain on strops. Is it polished G10 or micarta?

Thank you Harry. There was a lot of paint down in the jigging. I got most of it, but, noticed some tiny specks after taking pics. ;):)

You could be correct my friend ! ;):D

Sorry about the long hard day and a very nice sheep kept you company.:)

I thought I might take stock of my Stockman knives this week, starting with this Boker. Hope everyone has a good week

I really do like that Boker acrylic tortoise shell. Your pic makes me want to carry my big trapper, only I'm currently in the grip of the EDC challenge week with only one little stockman by my side. Perhaps next week...maybe it even qualifies as "neglected". :D

Me, I have just mostly carried my Sportmesser. It just works for me!

Speaking of Bokers...yours is particularly elegant, which I think I may have observed before. Do you know how old it might be? Thanks for sharing!

Should I even bother asking about the gas mask that bag was designed to hold? ;) :D

A Rough Rider scout with me today, a stout and very capable worker.

I know which style RR will be my next purchase, I just need to pick a pattern (or two...at least they make knife addiction manageable on the wallet :o). Your scout seems to be holding its own with that little Barkie, yet there are probably a couple decimal places worth of difference in their respective costs. :p

Thanks Gev. I need to get some shots in better lighting, but here are a couple more.

The lines on that Ohta are just incredible. You hit the jackpot on this one, Bob.

I going to take the one week challenge so I'm going solo with a Colonial Ranger Stockman today.

I'm digging how the master blade only makes a token attempt at being a Turkish clip but in reality it looks like a long, slender drop point with a nice big belly. That knife should serve well for the week.

Love this knife so much!

I can't blame you. I want to see that bad boy on many Wooden Wednesdays going forward. :D

Paint or not, that Catt is already a stunner, and I imagine you'll continue working your magic.

Any advice for a neophyte to get some reddish (not active rush, maybe paint or some other sort of) shmutz off the shield of my old Texas jack? :o

These came with me up to NY today, working on another one of our tug boats' radar systems.

You did it again. Is that Case some sort of mini-seahorse whittler? What pattern is it? I'm unclear if that's bone stag or the Case-versioned Winterbottom they market as "vintage bone". It's a real eye-catcher, though.

Thanks Gevo, Primble, Tsar & GT. Starting to feel better.

Hey, isn't that Tom's trademark?!? :grumpy: You have to commit to it, Tom would never stoop to a #18 stockman! ;)

Good to hear you're feeling better.

Fear no evil walking in the valley with that Barlow. :D

That's a big honkin' slab of knife, huh?! I'll bet that's gonna get a lot of CE & CF. :D Nice pickup!

Today I kinda missed having a big jigged knife in the pocket, but the "small stockman" performed well when called upon. Here it is getting dinner ready.

Lots of great knives :) I'm having to rush this morning, so sorry if I miss some of them

Nice

Looking good

Very cool Dr Jones

Very much looking forward to your stockman review Jack :)

Thanks Tom, I have a lot of work on this week, so they might be a good choice :)

Smashing Gev!

Thank you Mr. Jack and a very nice stockman. Hope I did not jinx you on the work ! ;):D

Thank you sir, not at all :D Beautiful Catt, a really classic knife

Thanks TB, good for you :)

My Stockman today is made by Taylor's Eye Witness

Thanks guys for the compilments and nice pics! :)

Thank you! It is not old, maybe year or two tops? :D
That's because they still make these. This one was "Christmas present for myself" back in 2015.

Today I'm carrying one of my most treasured finds from Berlin:
