I really like that RR scrimshaw stockman from r8shell Gary.

Here are the knives I carry EVERY week; I suppose they might qualify for Old Friends Friday status.

What an honor to make it from regular rotation to Gary's everyday carry! The big leagues for a knife!

I've got my two newest with me. Case Punch Stockman

That is a beauty Cory.

Much appreciated, Brett. I have to say that I was very happy to see you back and posting again. I know how busy life gets when you have multiple kids in the house. Glad you're finding time to squeeze us in, buddy!

I just wanted to echo Rachel in saying that it's an honor to know that I supplied a knife that makes regular rotation for you, GT. It makes me smile every time you post about it. Us porch members tend to move from one knife to the next at an alarming pace. It's special to me to know that I contributed to somebody finding one that has stayed in favor for so long.

Happy Friday everyone!

NICE fixed blades guys

I am continuing to carry knives this week without a thought towards practicality, just knives that elevate my mood. Today an old-ish friend I picked up in the early 90's, an A.G. Russell Cattaraugus Trapper that doesn't see enough pocket time. Also a Peanut that has never seen any pocket time, maiden voyage today. Happy Friday All!

This Queen copperhead for me today. I spent a lot of time on a diamond stone thinning the primary grind. I also gave it a nice acute edge. It's a real slicer now!

This one. I just love it! But it gets neglected because I tend to baby it a bit:

Great knife Robb !!!

Superb Mr P

This is an older IXL Stockman than I carried yesterday, more pocketable, and with blades of carbon steel. It was a generous gift from Lyle. I was lucky to pick up another of these knives, and gifted it to Stephen 'Old & In The Way', who I hope will reappear here again one day :) It's my carry for Old Friends Friday

Beautiful knife, beautiful photo, beautiful deeds Mr. Jack !:)

( I thought of our good ole friend Stephen last night after it was determined that Alabama would be playing Kentucky in the SEC tournament tonight )

Thanks for the additional info about your I*XL stockman, for the intriguing catalog pics, and for the compliments on a couple of my knives for the week.

...

Yet another venerable stockman, and the photo has a very striking atmosphere!:cool:

Thanks GT :) The photo was taken atop the ancient walls of Knaresborough Castle

That's a very versatile pair right there my friend. Lovely to see your specially scrimshawed Peanut again too :)

Great pairing, and I love the FB

That AGR is a very interesting knife Tom, don't think I've seen one before

Smashing Paul!

Thanks a lot Mr P, I know that our pal is often in your thoughts :)

Have a great weekend everyone

Carrying this #15 today. Did the forced patina on it last night. I think this one's been through a few owners, and when it got to me it appeared to have had a patina polished off it. Wasn't really a fan of that look, so I did something about it. :D

There is one issue I'm having with it today, however. Apparently, after doing the forced patina (apple cider vinegar), thoroughly rinsing with water and drying the knife (with a towel and compressed air), then wiping the blade down with a rag and some Ballistol, I neglected to actually oil the rest of the knife. :grumpy: Got a little surface rust happening on the inside of the liners and around the pivot. Not a huge deal, it'll be easy to clean off, but I'd like to take care of it now rather than later, and apparently we don't have any oil of any kind in the office, not even a can of WD40 or some olive oil. Nothing. So that's on my agenda for my lunch break.
