What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Beautiful Erickson Tim

Carrying my Rope Knife today :) Have a great Sunday everyone
...
Hmmm 'Database Error'...How unusual :grumpy:

Thanks Jack, hope you're having a good one with that wonderful rope knife. Haha it seems that Bladeforums always clunks out a little in the early morn hours :D

Nice Tim. Did the same to my No 7 last week as well. Lightly sanded and some bee's wax worked into the wood. Gorgeous Zulu as well.

Was nice and Sunny here in MA too. However...it was also 30 degrees xD Very nice lineup, I only recently found my old maratac in the couch cushions after 2 weeks of being lost thankfully.
I think I might do that for now since the stain and varnish would dark near make it a dress knife and this is a hard user.

That Erickson is awe-inspiring, Tim! What mod(s) do you have in store for your faithful Opinel??

Most likely just a nice deep burgundy/cherry stain :) And then several coats of varnish to keep it glass like.

That Erickson is top drawer, Tim! Everything about it speaks quality. I particularly like the jigging.

Today's carry is one of my more heavily used TCs. Photographed with a 116 year-old coin I got in change (!) yesterday.

Could stare for hours at it! Nice score on the coin Dean! Never had such luck :O Well the most I've found is a very very heavily circulated buffalo nickel but that piece is fantastc :D

From yesterday actually* Carried this all day.
Love the patina on it/the yellow kept me happy after I bit onto a hard metal fork and bent my lower central incisor out of alignment
Never had braces but it seems like I may start now :D

Ron Thank you, Chestnut Bone is excellent stuff, if ONLY CASE would release their Penknife in it I'd buy both cv and stainless ones.:D There are interesting variations in its colour but I've always liked the ones I've had or seen. Not so with their current Redbone though...

Thanks Tim, not bad my friend :) Yep, usually about the time I'm posting before starting work :grumpy: ;)

Beautiful knives as usual.

Todd couldn't have created a better knife to suit my needs.

Not sure I'll ever carry another knife. I may have finally found my baby.

Ow, ow, ow. Right to the heart. Bed spread material! Naw, that's rugged material, long lasting and classy. :):)

:D:D:D:D Tugging on your chain a little Dean - don't pay any attention to me. ;) Nice TC and nice find on the coin !:D

Glorious tour of barlows Primble, thank you for taking us along for the ride

Thank you Tom. Always enjoy seeing the Camillus Scout.:)

And what an end to a great Barlow week! :)

Thank you Mr. Jack ! Glorious pic of your rope knife.:)

Totin' my newest old Catt .............. a Gelding Jack today. I often wonder if Mark Ellis helped make any of my old Catts from that year 1921. :

The exact knife is pictured in my 1922 catalog. ;)

Thanks my friend!! Love the stag 73. You sure do love that patten and now you have me looking..lol.

Gev - Thank you my friend.:) LOL  I do love the 73. I got an Ebony Tidioute in the mail Thursday, no pictures yet. I picked it up on the exchange, couldn't resist helping Andrew support those pups. :D

Primble - Those Catt Cutlers were making some fairly good money for the day. No wonder they were turning out some of the best knives, they probably hired the best. :D

Today I had to go in to work for a couple of hours and I was totin' this new 85. :)

Many nice knives here. These Indian Head Penny's showing up made me chuckle remembering selling some old coins after my Aunts passed. One Indian Head Penny (forget the year and letter) bought one of my SA Revolvers by itself.

Thanks, Tom ("multitude of multi-tools" is very mellifluous ). :) Another fetching black/white combo!

Another handsome pair, Tom! Sorry the knife "bit" you; more indication that fixed blades are simply not to be trusted!

A Case sowbelly stockman:

I had to look up mellifluous, thanks for the education GT:
(Of a voice or words) sweet or musical; pleasant to hear:
the voice was mellifluous and smooth

And fixed blades are to be trusted, in this case perhaps the careless user not so much ;). The day I see you post a fixed blade will be a victory for the Dark Side indeed :). Great pic of the sowbelly

Great sunny day for a walk ...

Outstanding photo Dan!

Great knives Tom  My Tackler stuck me in the thumb yesterday  :D

Carrying my Rope Knife today :) Have a great Sunday everyone

Thanks Jack, birds-of-a-feather get bit together :). Great shot of the rope knife

Hope everyone is having a fine weekend.

Hahaha. Good call Dean but it looks like you got your Micarta bases covered!! Very nice.

Thanks, Dan.

Fantastic that's still in circulation :) Great-looking Barlow too

Thanks, Rob.:D No problem with the tain chugging. That Catt is fantastic. I am floored by the bone.

My ebony Presidential is always with me.

While we wait what about some of your little animal carvings? And if the green courthouse whittler is around, no one is gonna complain ;))

I'm still with my faithful whittler

Haha, you are right, it's been a while since I posted one of those.
And I wouldn't mind either if I had one of the green courthouse whittlers, but I'm pretty happy with mine in stag ;).

Love the little guy on the right .

I know how you feel

Thanks for the knife comments, GT.

Not just a claim on the coin. I was in a store buying something and as the clerk was fumbling in the drawer for change, I thought "I hope I get another copper cent." Those are the ones before 1982. When I looked at the change, I saw the Indian Head was one of the cents. Talk about a shock! That's the oldest coin by far I have ever received it in change - it pays to check. I think somebody's coin collection got raided.

I like the look of that Land Shark. Looks like it has a huge EO notch.
Congrats on getting the Indian Head, Dean; I’ve never even seen one in person!
Thanks for the Land Shark comments. :) The EO notch gives plenty of room to pinch the blade open, and it’s a nice spot to put a finger when using the knife.

My ebony Presidential is always with me.

Always enjoy seeing the ebony Presidential!

I love a John Lloyd knife, have owned a few, but they are always too pretty for me to use. This one came into my hands recently, and it is still too pretty to use, but I'm working through that :) I honestly would have ordered something like this as a custom for myself, but just got lucky enough to find it for sale used.

Ebony serpentine shadow--truly sunken joint--bar shield--half stops--and a thinly ground CPM-154 blade. Love it!

Congrats on an amazingly attractive knife, Sonnemann!

Oh-osage can you see.....

Glad to see you’re howling with the Coyotes, r8shell! :D

Gary - The 85's were made in single blade spear, and double blade with spear and coping blade. Both styles were offered with flat and saber grind spear options.

The Northfield 73 is new to me, but being a '08 model is not new. It is a drop point. :D

I am glad to see you enjoying that Sowbelly. It is a great pattern.:thumbup:
Thanks for the info on 85 options, and on the blade of your Scout. :)
The Sowbelly IS a fantastic pattern, and I’m so glad I adjusted my schedule to allow me to “fulfill my obligations” during the week, but carry my favorites (repeatedly ;)) on weekends!

…Today I had to go in to work for a couple of hours and I was totin' this new 85. :)

Aha, here’s a 2-blade 85!! Congrats, Ron; it looks fabulous!

Glad to see that Sow as well. A fine knife indeed. I thought about you.... I found a movie at Goodwill called "Proof"; with all the mathematics talk I picked it up...what a great movie:thumbup::thumbup:
Thanks, Gev; I have 3 sowbelly stockmen, and I enjoy them all, but the Case is undoubtedly the cream of the crop! :) I’ve looked at lots of stuff at Goodwill, and get most of my shirts and pants there, but I’ve never looked at the movies. (Have you ever found pocket knives at Goodwill?) I’ve never seen the film version of “Proof”, but you’ve reminded me that I’ve always wanted to. I’ve read the script for the stage play (play won a Pulitzer and a Tony on Broadway, I think), and seen an amateur production. Very thought provoking! Another play in the same vein you might enjoy is “Arcadia” by Tom Stoppard.

…
Great line up GT! Really like that Scrimshaw!
…
Nice Tim. Did the same to my No 7 last week as well. Lightly sanded and some bee's wax worked into the wood. Gorgeous Zulu as well.

Great sunny day for a walk ...

Thanks, Dan; the scrimshaw really shows off r8shell’s talent! :) I’ve melted some bee’s wax into the pivots of my Opinels to quite effectively prevent swelling, but never thought of putting it on the exterior of the handle; might try that! Great photo; is that folder a swayback jack?

OOPS :o wrong picture, I meant to use this one...

AyCPo1R.jpg

It took me a second to realize why it looked so strange. ;) :)
I fell for that first one, Ted! I thought to myself, “Wow, the covers on that Canal Street look just like what they used on the Forum knife! I didn’t realize they made a similar serpentine muskratish pattern. Wait a minute! What’s that tang stamp?? Oh, man, Ted’s taking advantage of my 19th century belief that a picture is worth a thousand words!” :o Well-played!

Thanks GT, the covers are horn, I've given them a bit of a polish since that pic was taken

How are you finding the Landshark, pretty handy knife I think?

Carrying my Rope Knife today :) Have a great Sunday everyone

Hmmm 'Database Error'...How unusual :grumpy:
Another interesting background for that splendid Rope Knife, Jack! Thanks for the info on the covers of your tackler’s knife; I thought the pic showed a certain translucence in the handle that would indicate horn. I’m encouraged that after 2+ years absorbing some knife knowledge, I can actually start using and applying it sometimes! The Land Shark appeals to me, but I just haven’t used it much yet; I haven’t even assigned it a spot in my rotation schedule. Part of the problem is that, although the name contains “shark”, I’m finding it “neither fish nor fowl” with regard to my “carry categories”. ;) Not stockman, nor SAK, nor non-SAK with bail, nor “Euro knife”, nor canoe (although it’s vaguely like a 1-blade canoe), nor big (at least 4”) knife. I’ll probably put it in the miscellaneous category, or possibly the watch pocket category. Best thing for me to put it through its paces is use it in the kitchen for a week or two!
When I visited my daughter in Spain during January of last year, I often had trouble with Database Errors for BF first thing in the morning.

Sounds like an attractive mod of your Opinel handle, Tim! Hope you get your dental issues straightened out without too much time and expense! (This is officially "yawn", but I'm repurposing it for the stereotypical dentist command, "Open wide!")

Stunning knife, Primble; congrats on another superb find! Gelding Jack because of the spey main?

You’re welcome, Tom! ;) When I was a kid, my parents subscribed to Readers Digest, where I learned that it pays to increase your word power! Me and fixed blades? Not likely, although I’ve been looking at Mora carving knives every now and then.

deskill, you always seem to be a person of few words who lets your pictures speak for themselves; that snakewood Chambriard is coming in loud and clear! What a beauty!

First day of spring today, I think. Pretty, sunny day here, but the wind is biting cold! :( But here’s a couple of photos of a Kutmaster stockman I bought in a junk store while on vacation last summer. Both back springs are busted, but I can’t bring myself to trash it, so I’m using it to “ring in spring” with a cluster of crocuses in the back yard.
