Thanks for the knife comments, GT.
Not just a claim on the coin. I was in a store buying something and as the clerk was fumbling in the drawer for change, I thought "I hope I get another copper cent." Those are the ones before 1982. When I looked at the change, I saw the Indian Head was one of the cents. Talk about a shock! That's the oldest coin by far I have ever received it in change - it pays to check. I think somebody's coin collection got raided.
I like the look of that Land Shark. Looks like it has a huge EO notch.
Congrats on getting the Indian Head, Dean; Ive never even seen one in person!
Thanks for the Land Shark comments.

The EO notch gives plenty of room to pinch the blade open, and its a nice spot to put a finger when using the knife.
My ebony Presidential is always with me.
Always enjoy seeing the ebony Presidential!
I love a John Lloyd knife, have owned a few, but they are always too pretty for me to use. This one came into my hands recently, and it is still too pretty to use, but I'm working through that

I honestly would have ordered something like this as a custom for myself, but just got lucky enough to find it for sale used.
Ebony serpentine shadow--truly sunken joint--bar shield--half stops--and a thinly ground CPM-154 blade. Love it!
Congrats on an amazingly attractive knife, Sonnemann!
Oh-osage can you see.....
Glad to see youre howling with the Coyotes, r8shell!
Gary - The 85's were made in single blade spear, and double blade with spear and coping blade. Both styles were offered with flat and saber grind spear options.
The Northfield 73 is new to me, but being a '08 model is not new. It is a drop point.
I am glad to see you enjoying that Sowbelly. It is a great pattern.

Thanks for the info on 85 options, and on the blade of your Scout.

The Sowbelly IS a fantastic pattern, and Im so glad I adjusted my schedule to allow me to fulfill my obligations during the week, but carry my favorites (repeatedly

) on weekends!
Today I had to go in to work for a couple of hours and I was totin' this new 85.
Aha, heres a 2-blade 85!! Congrats, Ron; it looks fabulous!
Gary
Glad to see that Sow as well. A fine knife indeed. I thought about you.... I found a movie at Goodwill called "Proof"; with all the mathematics talk I picked it up...what a great movie:thumbup::thumbup:
Thanks, Gev; I have 3 sowbelly stockmen, and I enjoy them all, but the Case is undoubtedly the cream of the crop!

Ive looked at lots of stuff at Goodwill, and get most of my shirts and pants there, but Ive never looked at the movies. (Have you ever found pocket knives at Goodwill?) Ive never seen the film version of Proof, but youve reminded me that Ive always wanted to. Ive read the script for the stage play (play won a Pulitzer and a Tony on Broadway, I think), and seen an amateur production. Very thought provoking! Another play in the same vein you might enjoy is Arcadia by Tom Stoppard.
Great line up
GT! Really like that Scrimshaw!
Nice
Tim. Did the same to my No 7 last week as well. Lightly sanded and some bee's wax worked into the wood. Gorgeous Zulu as well.
Great sunny day for a walk ...
Thanks, Dan; the scrimshaw really shows off r8shells talent!

Ive melted some bees wax into the pivots of my Opinels to quite effectively prevent swelling, but never thought of putting it on the exterior of the handle; might try that!

Great photo; is that folder a swayback jack?
OOPS

wrong picture, I meant to use this one...
It took me a second to realize why it looked so strange.
I fell for that first one, Ted!

I thought to myself, Wow, the covers on that Canal Street look just like what they used on the Forum knife! I didnt realize they made a similar serpentine muskratish pattern. Wait a minute! Whats that tang stamp?? Oh, man, Teds taking advantage of my 19th century belief that a picture is worth a thousand words!

Well-played!
I'm still with my faithful whittler
Stellar photo, Mateo!
Thanks GT, the covers are horn, I've given them a bit of a polish since that pic was taken
How are you finding the Landshark, pretty handy knife I think?
Carrying my Rope Knife today

Have a great Sunday everyone
Hmmm 'Database Error'...How unusual :grumpy:
Another interesting background for that splendid Rope Knife, Jack! Thanks for the info on the covers of your tacklers knife; I thought the pic showed a certain translucence in the handle that would indicate horn. Im encouraged that after 2+ years absorbing some knife knowledge, I can actually start using and applying it sometimes!

The Land Shark appeals to me, but I just havent used it much yet; I havent even assigned it a spot in my rotation schedule. Part of the problem is that, although the name contains shark, Im finding it neither fish nor fowl with regard to my carry categories.

Not stockman, nor SAK, nor non-SAK with bail, nor Euro knife, nor canoe (although its vaguely like a 1-blade canoe), nor big (at least 4) knife. Ill probably put it in the miscellaneous category, or possibly the watch pocket category. Best thing for me to put it through its paces is use it in the kitchen for a week or two!
When I visited my daughter in Spain during January of last year, I often had trouble with Database Errors for BF first thing in the morning.
Most likely just a nice deep burgundy/cherry stain

And then several coats of varnish to keep it glass like.
From yesterday actually* Carried this all day.
Love the patina on it/the yellow kept me happy after I bit onto a hard metal fork and bent my lower central incisor out of alignment
Never had braces but it seems like I may start now
Sounds like an attractive mod of your Opinel handle, Tim! Hope you get your dental issues straightened out without too much time and expense! (This is officially "yawn", but I'm repurposing it for the stereotypical dentist command, "Open wide!")
Totin' my newest old Catt .............. a Gelding Jack today. I often wonder if Mark Ellis helped make any of my old Catts from that year 1921.

:
The exact knife is pictured in my 1922 catalog.
Stunning knife, Primble; congrats on another superb find! Gelding Jack because of the spey main?
I had to look up mellifluous, thanks for the education GT:
(Of a voice or words) sweet or musical; pleasant to hear:
the voice was mellifluous and smooth
And fixed blades are to be trusted, in this case perhaps the careless user not so much

. The day I see you post a fixed blade will be a victory for the Dark Side indeed

. Great pic of the sowbelly
Youre welcome, Tom!

When I was a kid, my parents subscribed to Readers Digest, where I learned that it pays to increase your word power! Me and fixed blades? Not likely, although Ive been looking at Mora carving knives every now and then.
deskill, you always seem to be a person of few words who lets your pictures speak for themselves; that snakewood Chambriard is coming in loud and clear! What a beauty!
First day of spring today, I think. Pretty, sunny day here, but the wind is biting cold!

But heres a couple of photos of a Kutmaster stockman I bought in a junk store while on vacation last summer. Both back springs are busted, but I cant bring myself to trash it, so Im using it to ring in spring with a cluster of crocuses in the back yard.
