What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

This little tortoise conductor has been in my pocket all week. I'm hoping to build up some character on the scales and blades by using it as my EDC for this month. So far, so good, and I'm liking the pattern and knife more each day.

Mr Erickson makes some great knives but it is the dyed bone and the jigging that he just does so very well that do it for me! Nice one Elliott!

Got this Menefee Dogleg Jack with me today...

Hope to see everybody down at BLADE....:D

Thanks, Luciano. This was the first design we worked on together. I really like the way Ken tried to approximate the jigging you see on some of the old Schrade Walden knives...

Let's please limit our discussion to "traditional knives" (as the thread title calls for) so we don't go branching off into areas better handled elsewhere on these forums. Thanks in advance.

Love the jogged bone on that Hunter!

I finally threw this one in my pocket today.

Oeser inspired me and I'm totin' the Case/Bose lockback whittler that I received today. Eventhough I now have a backup I'm still a little nervous. I'm really enjoying the knife though. I can only imagine what it's like carrying a custom! But a good knife can last generations of use... Whereas the computer that I am using to write this reply won't be usable for nearly as long.

Finally put my Case SBJ in the EDC box for a short time in order to carry my Tribal Spear. Still looks great despite some solid use. Starting to devlop just a touch of blade wobble but still looks near new.

Elliott, I think that Erickson Hunter is the finest pattern he has ever made.

Just awesome blades and bone, and a sunken joint, too! BRAVISSIMO!!

Wow, Jeff, that's pretty high praise indeed.

When Ken and I decided to embark on this project we tried to model the knife on the lines of classic (full size) hunters from yesteryear, scale it down to "trapper" size and add a modified wharncliffe blade (which at the time I'd really only come across on my Case "Texas Jack"). Ken nailed what I had in mind.

The bone and jig was Ken's own take on the pattern but the old Schrade lineage is evident.

The knife will always be special as it was our first collaboration. I'm not even going to try to figure out my favorite! ;) (Though I'm looking forward to seeing what he's got in store for me at Blade!)

I feel your pain; this thread has cost me a few times, too. I have a Texas jack and my fav, the mini copperhead because of this thread as well as a couple of Barlows. I am still carrying the Bulldog Muskrat from a few days ago and spent some time last night tuning up the edges on the blades. Ed J
