What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Carrying this Case 47 Stockman. It was a surprise gift from my wife 8 or 9 years ago when we had no extra money for these kinds of things. It's my favorite knife that I own at any price point and one I'll have forever.

-Greg

Stunning! The back-story is priceless:thumbup:

Hey TB, last year at NJ shore, closed today on new place down your way, Sanibel Island. Have a good holiday.

Congrats! Sanibel is a nice area, sounds like you're gonna be in with the ritzy crowd. :D Enjoy!

Living here all year long makes me crave the cool breezes for my vacation. Come to think of it, I haven't gone snowmobiling in a long time. I hear Argentina is nice this time of year...

Stunning! The back-story is priceless:thumbup:

+1!

Snuck away from work on this rainy day to pick up a couple of doughtnuts and a cinnamon roll. Hadn't carried the 'Yote in a while. Love how much this knife disappears in the pocket.

…
I don't know if I've remarked on it before, but the stag on that Buck is outstanding.
GT - Thank you. Really like that Stag Buck Canoe!
…
Thanks, TB and Ron. :) I was VERY happy to find that NOS stag canoe with some dealer in Idaho (about a year ago?), and I apparently got their last one!

GT
…Your Cudeman navaja solsonesa from Toledo, Spain is quite the knife. I love that style of knife!
…
…
Thank you GT, nice to see your Cudeman :)
…Had these two with me today :)

Thanks, Gev & Jack. :) I’ve come to admire the functionality of that blade shape.
Jack, the Ancient and the Abbeydale are aces!!

That's the one r8shell.

Alan
The instructions r8shell posted (from a Chris Reeve website, I presume) are the ones I used to learn the knot, too. But many folks call that a “hangman’s noose” (and legend has it that a genuine hangman’s noose has exactly 13 loops around the “core”).

Cool. I've tied them using paracord, but had trouble using leather. I couldn't get the shiny side to lay flat, but decided it was good enough for now. I think I'll carry it tomorrow.

r8shell, I’ve had the same experience with this “noose knot”. I can do quite well using a boot lace with circular cross section (see my Minichamp at end of post), but flat laces (of leather especially) have proven to be quite a challenge. Yours looks good compared to my attempts! ;)

Quite a unique juxtaposition of “moods” with that cheerful yellow knife wearing a dark executioner’s tool for a lanyard!

A blade for everything :)

The coping blade is especially nice
Excellent! A congress with 4 distinct blade shapes seems most desirable to me. (The 44OT at the end of this post is another knife with 4 different blade shapes.)

Always a treat to see Pete’s perfect Peanut!!

What an exceptional pair, Paul!

On it's first Wooden Wednesday, Yellowheart (a Lick Creek Barlow) joined me on my morning hike. Also along for the rest of the day are Raggy (name derived from something Philllll said in the Barlow thread) and my Cocobolo Calf Roper Slim.

Congrats on your Lick Creek Barlows, Dean; they seem sumptuous, yet tasteful!

New #74 Mustang in American Chestnut arrived yesterday. I love it.

Not only carried, but used today.
Now THOSE are knives, 9Nine & bozack!!:thumbup:

GEC 22 again today.

Magnum on the Rocks - great photo, Cannonball!

2 weeks/2 Barlows, day 3: Wooden Wednesday edition.

Terrific “treeish” tandem, TB; I admire the way your “personal theme” also incorporates the Wooden Wednesday theme!

Here's what's in my pockets today. First is a Northwoods cocobolo bullet, with a kitten I found in the middle of the road today. Second is my grandpas old case knife, he passed away this morning.

My sympathies for losing your grandfather, WGregge. I hope having that fine Case as a memento can help you remember and celebrate his life for the rest of yours, as well as help you grieve over his passing for a while.

…I’m headed over to Sheffield early am, going to have these two with me

Delightful choices for what I hope is a safe and stress-free Sheffield trip, Jack!

That looks like a big, boss Bulldog, Will; Glenn did a big-league job on the ivory covers! (Do you read Russian?)

Harvesting tomatoes …

I don’t find tomatoes very tasty, but that knife is certainly stagalicious, Gev!!:thumbup:

I lost this little dude a few months ago. I've been pretty irritated since but today I was moving the seat in my truck and it wouldn't lock. I looked under the seat to see what was going on and I'll be damned, there it was.

Hey, that’s an especially happy story to me, Bill, since I have a stag Case Peanut just like that that would be VERY irritating/painful to lose! Glad the prodigal has returned!

…Nanc and I pick up Duncan and Sue at the airport at 11:00PM. So excited to see them:thumbup:
That is jubilant news, Paul; I hope you all have an unforgettable time together!!:)

Ok, not totin' just yet, because it just hit the porch today. I've been anticipating the Stag Beagle (on the left), and am super excited. I've recently been infatuated with the Peanut, but only had one until today. Now five cheaper Peanuts, and my baby Beagle. With the blade config, I just think the Beagle looks like the ultimate whittlin' Peanut. And will be carried a bunch I hope.

…
Congrats on the standout stag Beagle, bflying! If you have time, can you zoom in on the new Peanuts and give a brief ID of each?? Thanks! :p

…
This guy all week so far.

That’s a striking pic of your swayback jack, Dan; a veritable rainbow!!

More knives in my pockets this week include:
a "Black Box Winchester" dogleg teardrop/bullet jack (thanks, Paul)

That's the best-looking WLST I've seen yet, Paul. The finish of the bone speaks to me. Odd that it's not listed on their blog page (unless I'm just not seeing it ) - http://greateasterncutlery.net/blog/patterns/01-15/25-barlow/

It only appears in the production schedule. GEC only started making those picture archives about 2011 I think. I would say the vast majority of early barlows are unphotographed - for example there is only one 2008 example on that page but I own fifteen 2008 barlow variations and that's maybe 5% of the variations that GEC put out in that first year alone - one of the many reasons for my addiction is that it's an appetite that I will probably never satisfy. I just take my time picking up the variations here and there as time wears on :D

Yep. The frontier bone was the first of the GEC barlows. They were built in 08, and GEC then begin producing a boatload of the 25s in all kinds of handle options.

Absolutely. Thanks for the clarification mate :)

I try other GEC patterns and other brands and what not but always come back to the #25. It's the only specific that I really focus on collecting.

Always a treat to see that fantastic knife Gev :) Great to see it open in your other pic too, it was a super find

Have fun!
(your new signature is setting off my OCD, the way it's cut off at the end.) :D

Thanks r8shell :) Sorry about that, it's OK on my PC, I'll have to play around with it, maybe make it smaller :o

Love your Yellow Rose

Thanks, Paul! I know you all will have a wonderful time!! So cool:thumbup::thumbup:

Definitely! I've been excited about Duncan and Sue's trip for at least a year, and I'm not even on it! :D Really good that you fine folks are able to get together

Looking like your bases are covered with those two JB!

Thanks Dan :) They didn't stop me spending £200 on knives in Sheffield I'm afraid :o :D

Wow, just incredible Paul

Jack, Gev, Paul H I hope you fellas are doing well

Hey Pete! Great to have you here again :) Scrolling through the posts I missed your name, but couldn't miss your Peanut! :D Hope you're doing good, and that your girls are well my friend

Cool pic of the Douk Jerry

Very nice

Nice work on that sheath, it suits the knife well  I've looked at them a few times, and expect I will cave at some point ;)

Very clever pic Alan

Looks fine to me, too, though I don't use Tapatalk. Easy enough to shrink.

Try this on for size. 500px wide. The original font didn't scale too well and I'm a little short on interesting fonts here (all my good ones are on my home machine) but I think this one fits anyway. I saved the source in case you want to tweak it later.

Gary
Thank you Sir! Some interesting carries for you today:thumbup::thumbup:

Jack
Thank you so much for your kind words. I was just admiring all the coins you sent me that I have framed down stairs. Thank you again for your kindness and generosity, my friend:D

Thanks a lot TB, that was very fast work again :)

Thanks Jack, hope all is well with you.

Yes thanks Alan, very tired though, think I'll have to hit the hay soon, Sheffield always wears me out ;)

Well, I'm back!

Hard drive died and I'm trying to figure out Windows 10.

Great, very nice, spectacular knives everyone!!

I picked this one up at the market and have been carrying it for the past few days. I like it.

2 weeks/2 Barlows, day 4:

I like that XTRA Barlow. That way, no matter what, you have an extra Barlow.

Such a great looking Stockman, Greg!. Proof positive that Case frequently knocks it out of the park.

And also a lovely gift.
