What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

No worries, I'll sheepishly admit to having one or two knives with "previous owner" lanyards I didn't take off because I wasn't sure I could improve upon them. :D

I'll sheepishly admit I can't tie one, but my wife can tie the heck out of them.

I have to say that I don't usually care for northwoods knives but I'm liking that pattern!

Thanks A.L.> :)

Ron, that is such a beautiful knife. I can see why you want to have it with you frequently!

On it's first Wooden Wednesday, Yellowheart (a Lick Creek Barlow) joined me on my morning hike. Also along for the rest of the day are Raggy (name derived from something Philllll said in the Barlow thread) and my Cocobolo Calf Roper Slim.

Thanks Dean - That is 3 great looking knives!:thumbup:

Dan and Paul Thanks a lot. A useful size single-blade and good in hand too. Glenn refitted it with Ivory micarta. The paper it's on is a Tsarist Russian share certificate (using the old style alphabet) raising money for a railway in Russia in April 1914.... It offers 4.5 % pa a good sum before the war broke out and in total was worth 1800 GBP in gold or equivalent French gold Francs. About 6X a national yearly wage. But.....the Great War and Revolution put paid to it all! Motto. don't trust banks, bits of paper or politicos. Gold is gold, might have a bearing today too...:eek:

Regards, Will

Hahaha. Thanks Will
My own translation would have been dramatically different then that.

Gev, Your photos are like your knives, always sublime. Where do you find those?

Stich, nice Christy! I always enjoy seeing an Ohio knife. That NAA looks like a hoot to shoot.

Headed to the beach house for the weekend. I'm sure I forgot something.

Alan

Sure didn't forget to bring some sunshine, didja? Those delrin 'Stangs came out looking 100x better than I ever imagined. Enjoy your vacation.

SadSappySucker, I forgot to quote you but it's good to see you keeping up with your Presidential. I need to dig mine out.

GT Thank you, the knife's new clothes are a nice change. I can read a bit and understand and speak a little yes.

Thanks Dr-Mabuse, just a few last days at the shore, house is on the market. More importantly, that delrin is my first GEC with other than natural covers. It is very nicely done. Everything feels just right. And, it cost less than any of the others.
BTW Jack that flower pic is GREAT!

BTW Jack that flower pic is GREAT!

Thanks Alan, I'm afraid I can claim no credit for it though (I might try replacing it with one of my own when I get home later). I re-posted it to draw attention to the fact it's the centenary of the start of the Battle of The Somme today. The clasp knife is a WW1 'Gift Knife' by Joseph Allen

This guy again today

always a treat to see that one, Jeff!!
Simply stunning pictures Gev!

I really appreciate your kindness. Standing in the middle of that sunflower field is a memory I will never forget! Sunflowers ten inches across and more:eek:

Gev, Your photos are like your knives, always sublime. Where do you find those?

Comments like yours are what keep the passion alive! Thank you! That one was out of Canada.

The flower shot sings, Jack! I love todays carry. I want to hear about the trip to Sheffield:D

Grrr.... Photobucket has no been letting me upload pictures so I'm attempting to do it via google image for the first time...

The link works, Paul, and that's a super pretty #25!

Google doesn't seem to make it particularly easy for most users to grab the inline image and post it/use it elsewhere, it seems. With most picture hosts, even without built-in sharing functionality, you can generally right-click the image in most browsers and "Copy image address" to get the URL, then insert it inside the tags or use the little "insert picture" icon in the post editor. Google, however, uses a complicated redirect system that does not supply an actual image address directly, so you can't simply take the massive string of text it provides and slap it into your posts. It appears Google has taken a few steps backwards in image sharing since they put the kibosh on Picasa.

I use Flickr and its "share image" dialog in which you can choose between pre-formatted [IMG] tags in a range of sizes from thumbnail to original that you can simply click to copy and then paste directly into a post. Photobucket has similar functionality but I see so many instances of it being down that I stopped using it a while ago. Imgur is another option with an easy-copy option for BBCode (a limited version of which BFC and other forums use).

Ok, enough nerd stuff. Back to knife geeking. 2 weeks of 2 Barlows, day 5:
