What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Very observant GT. Actually it's a different one. The first was from GEC that the first owner removed the bail. I wanted it pretty badly so I compromised hoping it would be a great carry, and it is. Right after that the Dog Paw turned up and I decided to bite the bullet and grab it. Of course that means no more knives for a while. At some point it becomes time to sit back and enjoy what one has. Easier said than done, but going to buy a motor scooter this week.

Carrying these two today :) Have a great Sunday everyone

A couple of great knives, Jack! Interesting definition of Barlow under the I*XL. Always good to see the Abbeydale.

What an amazing trifecta! So, which is your favorite?

Carried these two today. A Baxter Ltd. Sheffield and a Vic Electrician.

Have a good one!

Ken K.

That Baxter is a treasure, Ken! I especially like the wormgroove jigging.:thumbup:

I seem to be carrying knives for several days lately. I had this TC while I was away Friday/Saturday and decided to carry it along again today. It's been raining off and on all day today and, of course, it started raining while I was setting up this shot.

Thanks Dean, it's from The Yorkshire Dictionary of Dialect, Tradition, and Folklore. I have heard it used, but we most commonly said 'Kings' when I was a kid. You don't get safer than a Barlow though ;)

Now that's a good looking group! :D :D

Chestnut Beer Scout today.

Thanks Barrett!

Nice Beer Scout you're carrying today.

I grew up as a Farmboy, but I NEVER looked THAT good!!

I'm enjoying your pairs related by handle materials, GuestWho!

Here are some knives I had with me on vacation the past two weeks, even though I didn't exactly carry them. I intended to "work on them", one way or another, but never got around to it!
A Kutmaster stockman with both springs broken that I actually bought while on vacation a year ago. I figured I can at least use it to practice sharpening.

Thank you, GT!

Another day, another incredible selection of knives.

However do you choose? :D

Except for in the case of the Rough Rider - Small Stockman. That's a no-brainer..... anything less than EVERYDAY is unacceptable. ;)

Ole yella. :)

On-call weather conditions for photographers on the move.....

I like it! :D

Barrett, that Chestnut Beer Scout is truly in a league of its own. Such a home run on those handle covers.

Uhhh... Does this count at "totin'"? I mean, I had to tote all of them to the kitchen table!

This curly maple gunstock rode shotgun today. I love this little pocket slip. It's actually made for a Spanish friction folder my Spanish friend sent me but I've been using it for everything from peanuts to boy's knives to a Tacosa lockback.

SMOOTH, G2 ; how big is that stockman?...

Closed it measures 3 3/4" I did the modifying on the sheepsfoot blade to allow it to drop into the frame just a bit more, now it's flush with the back of the main blade, making it a more handier carry ;)

That's a very nice assortment of blades. What's the jack on the bottom right?

Hmm, that is interesting. I remember using this in games here in Australia as a child, and it's still in currency - although here it's 'barley'. I wonder if this is a more archaic form that came over with the English colonists or vice versa. Here 'barlow' would not have been a common word, given that that pattern of knife is known as a 'bunny knife.' In fact contemporary imported barlows from the Egginton owned residue of the great Sheffield cutlers will still commonly have the 'bunny knife' inscription on them.

No clue! Its tang stamps read Ulster, but I can't find any info on a 2 blade, bare head Jack from Ulster. I'm sure they probably made a million of them, but I couldn't find anything on Google or Levine's sub-forum. It might just be a rehandled or parts knife someone threw together. I don't know.

Thanks for the closer look. If it is a parts knife, they made it out of good parts! Love those bareheaded jacks.

We had a visit from a Luna moth this evening. I hope he did stay too long. They only live for about a week in the adult moth phase. He better get to work perpetuating his species.

Such a good-looking knife! I love the Beer Scouts, but the simplicity of that "SCOUT" shield is just perfect, and the jigged bone looks great on that knife! Good stuff!
