What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Up before the sun this morning firing up the smoker for a BBQ with friends.

Getting the BGE out myself, smoking ribs today, ribeyes for dinner, and smoking a Snake River Farm brisket tomorrow. Have a great BBQ!

These fine knives are with me today, long time ABS Master Smith, Harvey Dean bowie(historically correct swedge) with mortised construction blackwood handles, Paul Long sheath; along with a swayback by Ken Coats, Paua shell and ATS 34.

A wonderful rainy Saturday morning! Headed out with my new Eureka Jack (finally got one!!!).

You are going to get me hooked on these Rough Riders yet! Nice photo (again)!

I think you'd be hard pressed to find a knife as well made at this price point, like I said I have made some 'adjustments' to it but nothing too major, some very light sanding on the blade side of the handle scales to smooth them out was about the only fit and finish issue I saw with it, aside from sharpening which seems epidemic to almost every folder we get but that is not bad either as you can then apply the bevels/edges that you will be maintaining anyways.

NOW, since I had gave away my Rough Rider whittler, a smaller knife, I missed the smaller blades! THEN I remembered this cutie with mother of pearl scales and almost zero edge bevel grind...sharp!...that was made back in the early 1930's can barely make out an Acorn on the tang stamp. This will ride along with the Rough Rider for when I need a small but very sharp blade ;)

This wonderful Vintage Ulster stockman for me today. Near full blades, NO play period in any blade. And mind blowing jigging:cool: I'd carry the darn thing even if it didn't have blades because I love the covers so much:o

Fantastic jigging, Paul! A primo example of a stockman.:thumbup:

Just Raggy along with me today. I needed a lighter carry in all the heat!

I felt like carrying some MOP today, in its purest Shadow form :) This Palo Alto still has great W&T :)
...
Pairing it with this old TEW Sheepsfoot for Stag Saturday :)

Great looking stag with that rattail bolster, I always admire how you seem to pair up your carries so well Jack.

Wow..just wow Paul. That is some of the best peachseed jigging I've seen. Heh a knife without blades, then you'd have yourself a worry stone ;)

Today's carry was Ebony for me as well. :D Hope you all have a blessed weekend! :)

Golly Lambsfoot Ron! The ebony on that one is staggering.

Thanks Tim. Free hats are the best hats. :D My son in law drives a truck for a Bud Distributor. ;)

Ain't that the truth! I forgot about that tidbit

Really nice covers on that one, Tim!

Carrying this #47 around today.

Thanks Barrett, they remind me of a peanut hence today's photo~ I can say the same for yours, swayback sure is a staple.

For the 3rd day in a row, an oversized Peanut!

Great picture, that wood is just wonderful!

I carried my 22 again today. I noticed that the scales were looking thirsty so today was it's first spa day. Buffed the scales just a little bit and let it soak in some oil for a while. Looks much better.

Thank you kindly! I forgot how much I like the old Rosenbaum and Mogul. Who needs a gun when your packing a pair of 22s ( an old quote from Pumping Iron about Arnold ). That little beauty really is packing some heat:D And it's looking quite satiated
