What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

i found it:)

Hooray! :)

Thanks, Jack. :) I should someday take a "family photo" of my Case chestnut jigged bone CV knives. In addition to the Sowbelly stockman and the SBJr, I also have a swayback jack (thanks, Paul) and a peanut; what a lovely family they are, and I hope to expand the family as time goes by (mini trapper next on the list, I think, although I've heard rumors of CV canoes with chestnut jigged bone covers made in the past - wouldn't THAT be a find!!).

...

Cool complementary couple, Jack. And your bloody story was quite entertaining as well!;)

Hope things ease up for you soon my friend, I never seem to have enough time myself these days. It'd be great to see your family pic, I only have a Texas Jack in that series, but think they're great knives. Thank you for the compliment, I've still got both arms! ;) :D Cool old Barlow

Nearly the end of another week. I hope everyone has had a good one, the weekend is nearly here :)

Carrying these two today, A Wright Lambsfoot and an old Christopher Johnson

This #77 red bone Barlow arrived today, I have been actively seeking this one since its introduction. Happy to have it:thumbsup:

The series continues!! :eek::cool::thumbsup:

Blue skies...
Have you tried the saw yet?? Superb knife!

Fantastic news, W.M.B.!:cool: Losing that Black Cat forever would have been hard to take, I'll bet.

Good Morning Everyone...Buck 301 for me today.

Cool photo, Mike! Both the coffee cup and the knife look all business.

Carrying my first Lambsfoot today.

Congrats on the rosewood lambsfoot, Tom!:thumbsup: The striping in the handle looks real good!

...
I am sporting a couple of recent acquisitions today. My new #54 and a Camillus Stockman.

Congrats on your new twosome, Dylan!:thumbsup: Beautiful equal-enders like those would knock me right out of the tree! ;)

Wonderful Washington Jack, Bob! :cool::cool:

Praiseworthy pic of a phenomenal knife, Dee!:thumbsup:

Thanks, Gary. I rub a little mineral oil on her every now and then. She probably doesn't want me giving away her beauty secrets though. :D:rolleyes:
That JJ Martinez is such a good looking knife. Every time you post it it makes me want to hunt one down.
Thanks for the mineral oil info, FBC. I passed the info along to my wife, but she seemed unimpressed with Rosie's beauty secrets. :p Thanks for the compliment on the stag Martinez; that was kind of a Spanish grail knife for me.

Thanks for the comments on my knives, Jack. :) As usual, you've selected another intriguing pair! I don't remember noticing this previously, but does the photo of your Christopher Johnson display a scar on your left ring finger? Knife-related?

Big Knife of the Week for me is a 5" Rough Rider toothpick (thanks, Mark):

Thanks GT :) A surgical-knife! I broke a tendon in that finger about 10 years ago, had to have surgery, and the scar zig-zags right down my finger

Have you tried the saw yet?? Superb knife!
Thanks, Gary. I haven't really tried the saw yet, except playing at cutting some hackberry shoots.
I'm thinking of mailing some items ahead for my NYC visit this summer, and SAKs are the best unthreatening big city knife. (MacGuyver was a good guy) I might send this one, but I doubt I'll need the saw, so is it worth the extra weight? On the other hand, if Mom takes a liking to the blue color, I might leave it with her. :)

That's a nice Camillus, Pàdruig. I think it's from 1970s/1980s.

Thanks r8shell r8shell for the compliment and the info! I suspected it might be from that era (can we call the '70s/'80s an era yet?), but I do not know enough about old Camillus knives to know any better. I am learning though! Slowly but surely...

That black Beer Scout is one of my favorites of yours, Tom! That's a great photo, although it's certainly a bit different from the pics you used to post. It would be cool to see an old version and a new version of the same photo. Your light tent seems to make your photos more "artsy", if that makes any sense.

What knives am I carrying this week that I haven't posted yet? Let's see...
European Knife of the Week is also my stag/horn knife of the week - it's a JJ Martinez ceirvo navaja de campaña:

Miscellaneous Knife of the Week is a Belknap Blue Grass Barlow with delrin covers and blades that need more work than I currently have the skills to give them, I think:

Thanks GT! Great knives, that is a beautiful Barlow. Looks like a fun and/or frustrating project to fix those edges :)

And challenge accepted regarding my photo methods :).

Thanks Buzz! I am rather happy with it myself. I have no idea how old it is but it is in great shape and will make for a terrific user. Another pic because, well, just because... Why not?

That's the 3 7/8 #67 Premium Stock knife? It looks very much like the knives Camillus manufactured for Buck, but with straight bolsters and the brown stag style Delrin covers. If so, it's going to be an awesome, awesome user.

Sorry for posting twice but I am having a heck of a time figuring out how to multi quote from different pages.

I really like the saw for getting into that awful plastic everything is packaged in now :).

I'm headed to the Adirondacks tonight, for the annual camp opening celebration weekend. Eleven family members crammed into our tiny cabin in the woods. Much wine and IPA to drink, huge amounts of grilled chicken to eat, and bags and bags of marshmallows for the kids to roast over a camp fire. The designated marshmallow stick maker for the weekend will be the Camillus C4.

Getting ready to fire up the Egg for a 12 hour smoke on hickory and oak for some pork shoulders. These two that Jerry Halfrich made for me today. The M4 on the Jack Russell held up great cutting pipe insulation and the stabilized old growth redwood burl held up great being dragged through the dirt under the house. Paul Long sheath. Some awesome birds coming through to our bird feeder, today is a pair of evening Grosbeaks.

Nice pair from Jerry, Kris! We look forward to the return of the Rose Breasted Grosbeaks to our feeder every spring. They winter over in Central America.

Thanks GT! She is a stunner, for sure. Going to give it a few days before I put it to work and lose that pretty etch...

I acquired it knowing it was simply a Camillus-made Stockman but I would imagine your assessment is correct. The Delrin is melt-pinned on, if that makes any difference. I heard Camillus did that to a few of their knives, including a number they had made for Case once upon a time. Regardless, I am absolutely thrilled with it. Great walk and talk, though the spey blade is a bit "soft", which is fine as it is a blade I very rarely use. But I suspect it is going to get a fair amount of pocket time and use.

It being my first Camillus, it definitely has made me want to find others, my impressions being very positive with it.

I love that Redwood burl! Here in Oregon, Redwoods aren't perhaps as common as they are in other places but I grew up with a stand of them in my back yard. I have very fond memories of climbing through those monsters. Beautiful knives, as always!

Today I opted to carry my Camillus Stockman or #67 Premium Stock knife (Thanks Buzzbait Buzzbait ) and my 2016 Forum knife. I opted to give my new #54 a day or two to stay pristine... Though she is still with me a work, sitting pretty on my desk.
