What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I've taken a leaf from Jack Black's weighty tome.

Jack. Every time I see this knife it makes me smile. So please forgive my ignorance (I've been afraid to ask as you've no doubt described it elsewhere), but what make / brand of knife is this?

Thank you very much :) Sadly, there are no stamps at all on the tang :( I'm pretty certain it was made in Sheffield, where I bought it, and it's a really nicely made knife. I wish I knew the maker. I've dubbed it my Abbeydale Jack :) Here's a pic with the blade open

Nice line-up r8shell, gotta love a bar where you can drink AND sharpen your knives :)
I gotta say, it's one of the nice things about Texas. Not only doesn't anyone mind, but if it attracts any attention, it's from folks wanting me to sharpen their pocketknife. Sometimes I can get a free beer out of it, so I guess I'm a professional sharpener now. ;)

Back to drinking water today.

Today Pam and I are off to visit one of my guys who is in the hospital. Afterward we plan to grab some lunch and maybe a stop by Sams before heading home. I am carrying this new to me GEC #53 Stockman from '08. Buttery Smooth Elk and 440C, what's not to like. :) Even if it is a 2nd! ;)

Ron, hope you friend is on the mend! That is a beautiful knife as well. What year is it from?

Jeff, that's a great Appaloosa. May I ask how you get that shine on the bone scales?

Sounds great :) I sometimes sharpen knives for folks on the tool stall in my local open-air market, doesn't raise any eyebrows there. I've done it in a couple of bars too, but there aren't many where I'd do it

Ron, hope you friend is on the mend!

+1

A Case Swayback Jack in CV and red bone...

Frank, that red bone looks great. I do love mine in blue bone.

Rounder on ride along today. Great knives and pics today!
Gary, I can't tell from this pic is that joint is sunk or semi-sunk. Regardless, it's quite handsome. Who manufactured it?

Today I spent some time at the local watering hole, sharpening some humble classics.

R8shell, that quartet demonstrates the true meaning of 'pocket worn'. I especially like the Buck.

GT @5K Qs , speaking of Bucks, that is one handsome dude!

Mine for today, a new acquisition. I'm using recycled pics since I'm intrigued by the black background I was able to achieve with Tom's recently mentioned lightbox. Let me know what you think.

As for the knife, I really like this Case. It's a handful at 4 1/4" closed, but only 3/8" at it's thickest, so relatively unobtrusive. With CM154 SS it's a departure for me (other than Case SS, which I don't count due to it's low RCH). It was dyed green by the previous owner, but still has it's original brown undertones in the jigging.

I messed around with this and couldn't make it work. Can't explain what is going on.

Hi Tom, The joint is semi-sunk. It's a Small Rounder made by Jerry Halfrich. It's 3 5/8" and a pretty robust knife.

Here's a better picture.

By the way. Nice looking back pocket Case!

Oops, duplicate post.
Thanks. I tried again. I don't know what's wrong. Yesterday I got it to work surrounding the link with html in brackets but today it's not working. Maybe my connection is just too weak. I even failed to get some text to post. Sheesh.

Thank you. The Buck is a Camillus made 301 I just picked up. I'm used to the smaller 303 size, but I'll give it a try once I get it sharp.

Whatever you're doing with the lighting really shows the depth of the jigging. Very nice.

Here's a post from Padruig in Carl's Lounge, http://www.bladeforums.com/threads/...tales-vignettes.754492/page-784#post-17246662. If you haven't tried this yet it might solve your problem.

If you want to email me and we can try and figure this out, I'll be around this evening to respond. Leave me a profile post.
