What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I'm carrying a couple of unusual ones today. A Kirkham & Co. (Sheffield) equal end sleeveboard pen, 3.25" closed. I can find nothing on Kirkham (Goins merely mentions the name).

And a lever lock (4.5" closed) from A.C. Mfg. Co., Marinette, Wis. (Aeriel Cutlery Compnay) Goins gives a date range of 1912-1950 for the company's knives, but the patent for the lever lock wasn't granted until October 23, 1916. I have read in an AAPK thread that only 600 of this model knife were made, but I have not confirmed that. The company continues in business as Aeriel Manufacturing Co. in Marinette as a purveyor of beauty salon supplies.

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. The sheepfoot blade on my Ebony Churchill made easy work of opening clam-shell packaging, while the clip blade sliced through cheese and turkey like a laser. The Guardians Lambfoot was used to open the bigger boxes. :)

I'm thoroughly enjoying the peace and quiet of Boxing Day. Got enough leftovers I don't have to leave the house. Churchill in my pajama pocket. #35 Churchill 5_001.jpg

After carrying 4 or 5 mult tools and knives over the last couple days, I went for the pocket knife palate cleanser

After carrying multitools for a while dropping a small slipjoint in the pocket is like sitting in a rocking chair on the front porch with a cold glass of tea (or a cold beer!)

That's what I wish I was doing, but instead im sitting in the car on my lunch break enjoying some coffee with the Peanut keeping me company

I'm off to the seaside for a few days, Whitby on the North Yorkshire coast :) I'll be taking at least half a dozen knives with me, including this #66 photographed at Whitby a couple of years back...

...a couple of Lambsfoot knives...

...and a vintage Dutch Army Knife :)

Enjoy the rest of the holiday folks

Congrats on the classy new Crown Lifter, solphilos solphilos ; looks fantastic as a tree ornament!:cool::thumbsup:

Yes, they are as if from two different knives.

A Vermont Cutlery Co. tadpole, 2 5/8" closed - it will light up the room.
Best wishes, GT.

5K Qs 5K Qs your 72 is looking like a well carried companion!
Thanks, Jake. :) I don't actually carry the 72 very often, but I use it for food prep quite frequently.

Always carry my Grandfather's Buck 309 during the holidays.

I'm resting up for round two of festivities this afternoon. Good thing I got a new belt last night because I'll be carrying all three of these:

Resplendent knife, Ratbert!:thumbsup::thumbsup: Fantastic shield; is it called a "bomb shield" or a "bodice/Barbie shield"? Looks like a fortuitous cross between the two to me! ;):cool::thumbsup:

I think this Saddle Trapper is a wonderfully Christmasy knife, and pairs well with my Kelly green Cadet.

Great photo of your EDC Cadet, Jeff!:cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Merry Christmas all. Today it is my peanut just like every day and my new victorinox recruit I got to day from the wife and kids....
Happy Christmas, Mike, and congrats on the new Recruit!:thumbsup::thumbsup: Your family knows how to pick 'em! I have quite a few SAKs, but a Recruit still is one of my favorites.

One for presents and one for beverages! Merry Christmas on the Porch!

That is a classy Christmas couple, Jason; hope you and yours had a great Christmas Day!:cool::thumbsup:

Synthetic GT, and the full size is BIG :). Glad to see that slimline earning it’s keep ;).

I asked my girlfriend to not give me any knives for Christmas, as she is not interested in them and I am really picky. However she hit this one out of the park, I was completely surprised.

Merry Christmas everyone, hope you are having a wonderful day!
Thanks for the info, and for the trapper, Tom; looking forward to seeing your big blue Sodbuster eventually!:cool::thumbsup: Congrats on the super surprise Remington gift pair!:thumbsup::D Is this the same girlfriend who made off with your orange Alox for a while? For someone who claims to have no interest in knives, she seems to have excellent taste! ;):thumbsup:

Had these two for Round 1 this morning. The red bone got a workout from the mountain of gifts for our daughter.

Perfect pair for Christmas, Shawn!:thumbsup::thumbsup: Is your daughter old enough now to appreciate and get excited about the whole gift thing? :)

R. David in snakewood for me today

What an elegant knife, Andi!!:cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Rob, that custom Barlow is outstanding!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool: Do you call the open blade a sheepsfoot, or is it small enough to call a coping blade?

It's Schatt & Morgan Railsplitter , Keystone series, Sir!
Thanks for the ID help, Falling_rain!:)

I swapped out my long term Alox Soldier for a Rancher these last few days. I forgot that I even had one in my knife stash but it has the characteristics of the Soldier. The pruner blade has been fantastic for opening boxes and Christmas packages.

Radiant Rancher, tomsch! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

We're watching A Christmas Story as I type this (admittedly a little late this year). It's one of my favorites, as well, though I didn't quite feel the same about the 3-hour live musical version that aired a few weeks back. :D
...
Barrett, my daughter recorded that live version of A Christmas Story and watched a little of it this past weekend. She was shocked that it was a musical, but I was not. I watched the opening number, and was a bit surprised it wasn't rap (given the success of Hamilton), but it WAS my daughter's kind of music/dance, with far too many words/second for me to process , so I had no interest in watching any further. Don't know if my daughter saved it for later or not.

I haven't carried this one in a while.

Glad to see that beauty again, Steve!:cool::thumbsup:

Dean, I hope you had a Happy Christmas and will enjoy a Blessed New Year!:thumbsup:

Thanks! This is my second GEC; the first was a #35 that set the bar really high, and the fit and finish of this one is no less impressive. Something about that inky black ebony and steel liners that really gives this one some class. What have I gotten myself into...:D

That was a great choice for your second GEC knife. Those crown lifters probably would not be available at all but for a large beer scout run a while back. I believe everyone got their fill then. Even though I have two beer scouts, there have been a few times that I almost pulled the trigger on that ebony crown lifter. It is a very nice knife. What you have gotten yourself into is a new knife every few weeks for the foreseeable future! Just think of it as the knife of the month club and accept it.

Hi Gary, I trust that you and yours had a nice Christmas.
I guess that shield sorta looks like a modified corset. What knife makers call a bomb shield doesn’t really look like a bomb to me.
