What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Well, I shouldn’t be surprised given that you mentioned the Janesville Knife Show yesterday.
But we must be neighbors.
That little cemetary is about three miles east of Belvedere.
The picture of the boy on the draft horse petting the colt is on the back of the stone, so you have to go around the back to see it.
Actually we have a Daughter & her family that live outside of Belvedere . We live east of Lake Geneva , about 45 miles away . Will you be going to Janesville ?
Harry

Actually, your comments about it made me look it up. I think I may, but we are leaving for a week in Colorado somewhere around then. Have to check the exact date with the boss of the house.
The one who looked at my paypal account and told me I have enough knives!

I hope you enjoyed carrying you #38 Farmers jack as much as i enjoyed carrying mine.
Scott
I do enjoy the Farmer's Jack ( Rooster Comb ) . It is a very nice package by itself and then combine the 2 bladed 78 with it and it is even better . The only thing I dislike about my Farmer's Jack is that I did not have the good sense to buy one when they came out .

Harry

Tired after a gruelling day. Temp got down to -28.6c out in the countryside and the main water inlet froze up so I had to go back to town for the night. Then a long drive to the hospital for stuff but a beautiful sunny but very cold day. Decided to take this along, I like the bone and I find this a very useful pocket sized Stockman. Black Box knives would actually content me if there were no others, but fortunately there are;)

I hope tomorrow goes smoother and is warmer. -28, that is COLD!
Your wonderful pic of that jigging inspired me to carry my BB Stockman too, thanks.

This #78 with me today for T~Bone Tuesday...picture in style of @paulhilborn :thumbsup:

:D:D Well done, @007hunter !:thumbsup: Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery! ;)

Beautiful horn barlows, Harry. I've been totin' the moose for a few days, and I'm itching to mod one of the blades into a sheepfoot, but I can't decide which one. I've got plenty of knives with clip and sheepfoot, so I'm leaning towards modding the clip into a sheepfoot to have something different.

1xOn0rY.jpg
Since I recently asked you about spear/sheep combos, especially on opposite ends of the knife, I guess you know I REALLY like the way you're leaning, Jeff!:thumbsup::thumbsup:;)

This one has a dedicated pocket slip and gets spoiled. It did do some honest box break down earlier though!

That's a shooting star, Drew!! :eek::thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:;)

A picture is worth 1000 words, but I'd sure appreciate some words to accompany that beauty, r8shell!:thumbsup::thumbsup: Is that scout knife new-to-you? Bone or synthetic? Did it ever have a bail, do you think? About how old is it?

FBC, your "Winnie Black Wood" started out sensational and looks better with every photo!:cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I have one of those. Nice knife and the spear blade is a pleasant change from most of my other knives. The main on mine is really stiff. (My biggest complaint with RR is variation in pull from knife to knife, even in identical knives.) The pen and coping blades are so thin they make great slicers.
I like that knife, a whittler with spear main, so much I have TWO now!:thumbsup:;)

...
Snowing here, and I'm off to the dentist, got these two on me

Today GEC #83 in Ebony Wood...

fomzns.jpg
Splendid wood on that little lockback, Senhor Pinto!:thumbsup: Do you have a favorite GEC 83 among those you own?

Good stuff GT. Good to see the RRs so well represented amongst a range of truly beautiful knives. It's great to be able to lay hands on such a range of knives without breaking the bank. Can only be a good thing for the continuation of traditional folders.
Thanks for the support, @Blake the Blade! :) I appreciate that you're a man who appreciates Rough Riders!;)

Welcome! Good to see you posting after all these years.:)

Kudos for your kindness and helpfulness, @Railsplitter !! :D:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thank you for the kind words, Gary. That RR Trapper of yours is not too shabby either! Wonderful jigged bone with great color!
Thanks for noticing, Ratbert! :) My first Rough Riders were a set of 12 patterns, all in amber jigged bone; I've been a huge fan of those covers ever since!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks Gary! The Presidential is very classy knife and the Red Jigged Bone shows just how skilled the cutlers at Great Eastern are. :) I always enjoy seeing that beautiful Horn on your Joker. Just imagine how Horn like that would look on a Lambsfoot. ;) Your RR Half Whittler has sparked my interest. It appears to be a single spring design. I am going on line to check the specs on RR531. :D
Thanks, Ron. :) The half-whittler is indeed a single spring, and was one of the knives that made 2017 the year I discovered that I have a real preference for single spring pen knife configurations.

Lovely horn on that Joker, GT!

Carrying these two today, they match quite nicely.

Wonderful wood couple, Dylan; I find Rosie especially riveting, as always!! ;):thumbsup::cool:
Ron and Dylan, thanks for the comments on the Joker horn. :) One of the many "knife inconsistencies" I've found in myself is that I find the blond horn quite appealing, but white smooth bone, oiled white bone, etc. do almost nothing for me.:rolleyes:

White CF Shuffler
wg9OR1J.jpg
I'm still not convinced that's a traditional knife, James! ;) But that sure is a memorable photo!:cool::thumbsup:

The rain is back! :( Forecast is for almost 4” total through tomorrow! I have these two Osage Tidioutes out for today’s carry. :D

Each knife is amazing, Ron, and the pair is simply astounding!!:cool::cool::thumbsup::thumbsup: Stay dry; are you on high ground?? Our Thursday forecast is rain changing to snow, accumulating from less than .5" to 8" - how's that for precision?? :confused:o_O

65 Slides done  Tranquility take me away :)

This was a peaceful spot last weekend

That's almost literally a Sea of Tranquility, Gev!:cool:;)

Thanks 5K. The shrine is visited often and by many. Faux or not those tortoise shell covers have great colouring to them

Thanks for the tortoise shell props, @donn .:) I'm really enjoying your recent "meat pie series" of photos! ;):thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks GT, the Capucin is a bit large for regular carry, so I can't see me pocketing it much. I prefer the Svord Peasant, even though the Capucin is a nicer-looking knife.

Always a treat to see your gorgeous Joker

Thanks for the Joker plaudits, Jack, and thanks for the friction folder festival! ;):thumbsup::thumbsup: Do you know anything about this "Japanese" friction folder from Shadow Cutlery? https://www.discountcutlery.net/SH2...Folder-Pocket-Knife-Ancient-Bone_p_72998.html

Mercy me! :eek::eek: What a stunning knife and sheath, @Redbeardo !! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Found a cool headstone in a little country cemetary.
Boker tree brand radio electrician, and my old Sabre fishing knife which was a gift from Grandpa back when he was teaching me to fish. I think it’s my oldest knife since I don’t know what happened to my old Cub Scout knife.
Too early for fishing-water’s way too high and muddy. But the northerns will be moving soon.

Cool headstone, indeed, Jeff!:thumbsup::cool: And the knives redline my nostalgia meter. One of my favorite knives is an Imperial clip/pen toothpick just like I remember my Grandpa carrying with color identical to your Sabre:
X0TnURb.jpg

I would pick these two for Wooden Wednesday, wouldn't I. The Buck on my belt and the Cannady in my pocket (the sheath fits fine), and off I go.

Splendid Wednesday selections, Stuart! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

My Alox Knife of the Week is an '86 (unless it's '98 ) Vic Soldier (thanks Ken):

My non-Alox SAK this week is a Wenger Esquire:

Not much warmer, -20c, getting a bit sick of this 3 week Siberian spell  But at least it's brilliant sunshine. What I never get sick of is the BB knives, they make excellent carry & user knives and I always enjoy seeing yours and others. Always on the lookout for back-up examples too, the Teardrop Jack is an especial target ;)

Regards, Will

Woodless days are indeed out of sorts for me, something I had to remedy for Wooden Wednesday though. :D

You're welcome Dylan, very nice pairing

Great photo of you in "your" library, Jack! :D

I was going to ask about the coins stuck in the piece of wood, but then I saw your response to someone else's question about it.

Nice pair, Buzz! The micartas match surprisingly well, considering the knives were manufactured by different companies on different continents.

Great shots!

Thanks for the Car on the Lake updates, Harry! I was home all day today, but as of yesterday there were still folks out on Lake Minnetonka in full size pickups. (I'm interested in taking up ice fishing now that we live here in MN, but the southerner in me is still a bit hesitant about driving on a lake, even in the dead of winter.)

Nice knife, and beautiful pipe! Love the natural finish.

Very cool shot!

Still carrying my Natural Canvas Micarta Bull Nose (which I might have to start shortening to NCMBN).

I don't mind the dentist, but he didn't turn up! Wimp! :D ;)

I strongly suspect that is not a historic Japanese pattern GT ;) It's produced by some fantasy blades company, made in China, blade steel's supposed to be 1065. There's a bamboo scaled version too - with a dragon! Fit and finish can be poor apparently

Great-looking Soldier my friend

I was up early to go to my local flea-market, but the snow we've had caused it to be cancelled, for the first time anyone can remember :( Plenty of stuff to do in the house anyway  I have these two on me

Yes, it's new to me. It spent last weekend soaking in oil to get all the rust and gunk off the backsprings, and now the blades open smoothly. Delrin covered, probably mid 1960s to late 70s, and I'm pretty sure it had a bail originally.

Here, posing as a "cattle knife" :D
