What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Wow what a beauty!

Totin' a terrible beauty. This Keen Kutter (E.C. Simmons, 1870-1940) equal end jack is a good example of the lustrous look of celluloid covers (tortoise shell here) and the daunting danger that lurks therein. All seems fine on the mark side, except for a little telltale surface rippling at the bottom pin:

The blades show a little of the corrosive effect of the off-gassing:

The pile side shows the surface rippling and cracks of deterioration; the bolsters were both rusty before a bit of Flitz and steel wool. Well, it's cleaned up enough to carry today. Might as well, as it isn't going to improve with age.

Shame about the gassing, Stuart, that is one of the most incredible, fiery celluloids I've seen.

Thanks, Jeff. It is what it is, but I am going to show it off to my bar buddies at beer time today.

Came across an archery range while hiking today. Targets are (imitation) animals & dinosaurs. My I*XL Barlow was happy to pose.

That's pretty darn cool, Dean. Thanks for sharing,

- Stuart
