What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

78 jack today...

I echo everyone's sentiments, that is a great picture. So good, in fact, I will show it to my wife. Which will promptly put me in the doghouse, she has a rather unhealthy fear of the amphibious quadrupeds. :D

The first berries of the season.View attachment 924798

One of the few things I enjoy about summer (more of an autumn guy myself) is berry season. Can never get enough. Beautiful knife and pic composition.

Wonderful pairing, Ron. I do like the looks of that Osage, one of these days I will need to give that material a try myself.

Black & Black, lovely pairing Dylan, and I see you have a handful of Intergalactic Credits there my friend ;) :thumbsup:

Thank you, Jack. And yes, those credits are important to my travels, you never know when you might get stranded in some strange universe. :D
A terrific pair of knives you have with you today.

I have eschewed the black (albeit briefly) and gone with a pair with a bit more color today.

Very true my friend! :D Thanks for the kind words, you may have eschewed the black, but you make all your colours look good :thumbsup:

On my hike today...

Since today is Flag Day in the U.S.A as well as the 243rd anniversary of the U.S. Army (I'm an Army Vet), I carried this one.

And because I wanted a Barlow in my pocket, I carried this one.

Flag Day? Sounds good to me! Cheers folks! ;) :) :thumbsup:

Thank you, Jack. A great photo, my friend, with a particularly tasty looking ale.

Thanks Dylan! :) I think Osage is a somewhat overlooked wood. It may not be for everyone. To me it has character and I really like it. :thumbsup:

I do not think I have seen an example of Osage on the forums here that I haven't liked. It doesn't have the same allure as deep black Ebony or richly grained Ironwood but it has an appeal that is all its own. From its history, uses, ruggedness, and just overall rich character, I would say it certainly has its place amongst the finest of woods. Maybe not as exotic as some, but that shouldn't deter one in the least.

Darn it, now I really have to go get one. :D

Carried these 2 to the YMCA and then to coffee with some friends . These 2 just make me feel real good .

While at coffee , one of my friends , gave me a knife like he used to give out to customers of his when he was a V.P. of International Sales for his company . He had also given me a Colonial like it a year ago . 5 &3/4 long with a 4 & 1/2 cutting edge . Sausage knife or Melon Tester

Then when we got home , I switched out to Old Faithful work knife

Those two knives are very high on my list of favorite knives, Jack! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Still this one, surprisingly versatile. It hasn't rained here for a month-unheard of. The farmers are in despair, my garden is arid but having this in your pocket is a compensation.

Phenomenal knife, Will! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup::cool: I hope you get some rain soon.

Today with this GEC # 15 Tortoise Shell Acrylic 440C Stainless Steel...

Admirable knife(s), @Pt-Luso !! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Gotta get one of those special Vics; I think those Warthog (and related model) SAKs are a fantastic variation! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Today I’m Totin a 1979 Case Electrician 12031L with Walnut and a 2014 Tidioute Talon with Ebony. :)

I'm a day late, but that's a well-chosen wood for a Wednesday, Ron and mitch! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

What knife model vanquished the apple?? ;) Boffo bocote covers! :thumbsup::thumbsup:

That's fancy, Alan! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Some days you just decide to pull out all the stops and make it a great knife day. Today is one of those days. Happy Wednesday folks!View attachment 924244
Congrats on your Great Knife Day, @l9ll ! I find the scratted Ancient especially compelling! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Bad ceiling day !! :confused:
:eek::p:D You should post this in the Mug Shots thread: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/traditional-mug-shots.1009881/

My wife needed some area rugs cut up for trash pick-up, so I'm totin' these wooden handled hackers today: a MALCON duct knife and a J. Russell & Co. Green River Works hawkbill. ...

The right tool(s) for the job (and the day); great selections, Stuart! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Today, a case of red.

I see what you did there. ;) You should demand a recount, though. Handsome knives, Dean! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Sheep/pen, tree-stamped bolster, sawcut Böker Barlow for the win! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Thanks GT, we made it safely to San Antonio today after an overnight stop in Louisiana.
:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks Gary! :cool::thumbsup::) I like the Motown touch today. ;) Great artists and wonderful songs! The Electrician is looking good today. :cool::thumbsup::D
Thanks, Ron. :) I grabbed the first version of "I Wish it Would Rain" that came up, but I found out after supper last night that there are some cooler videos where those guys show off their dance moves while performing the song!! :cool::cool:

Thanks, Gary! Your Imperial Canoe is striking. As a Mini Canoe, what is its closed length?
Thanks, GT. I, too, like the cool canoe in chilling cracked ice.
... - Stuart
I agree with the other statements, great looking canoe!!
Thanks for the big compliments on the little canoe, guys. My mini canoes are 2.75" closed (1/8 inch shorter than a Peanut), while the regular canoes are 3 5/8". (I do have a few "medium" canoes at 3 1/8" closed.) Here's a cracked ice Imperial pair:

It wasn't GT, but thanks for the link my friend, Alfredo actually gave me that knife :)

I like that headline! :D :thumbsup:

That's a smashing threesome GT, but the pic of your Squirrel is outstanding :) :thumbsup:
Thanks, Jack. :)

We stayed in Lake Charles. We didn't go out, except to buy some swim trunks (I forgot mine!) and to eat Chick-Fil-A (every southern child's favorite fast food joint).
My town got its first Chick-Fil-A about 1.5 years ago, and I had a student at the time who came from near Atlanta who was just so elated! :confused::p

Had this Old Guy with me as I was working outside all day . No " ENGLAND " on the tang . 100 plus years old and still solid as a rock .

Always a treat to see that TEW, Harry! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool: (But where's its usual buddy?? :confused:;))

A little late to the party today but I've had these with me. Was just too darned busy to post them.

Lotta those ebony 15s showing up here lately, but their owners don't say much about them; Jak3 Jak3 or Pàdruig Pàdruig , how about a brief description of some of their desirable features for a geezer who doesn't hand out at the GEC site very often? ;):thumbsup::thumbsup: The two you've posted and Dylan's ebony Guardians Lambsfoot sure are beautifully black!! :cool::cool:

That is one AMBITIOUS toad!! :eek::p:p

You have just summarized my feelings about the Osage!! I’m so glad I can be an enabler my friend! :eek::D

Thank you, GT. GEC is in the middle of a rather sizable production run of their #15 Boys Knife pattern. This one in Ebony came by way of mail yesterday and I decided to pocket it as soon as I took it out of its tube.

I would say the Ebony, though quite dark, is not as black as some of the other knives I have. It is still quite attractive though and I have zero complaints about it, especially given the variation I have come to expect in the Ebony offerings as of late. I really do like the #15 pattern, though I particularly prefer the 2-blade versions (the single blades are decidedly small for me), but some of the things that I find most desirable are the steel construction (bolsters, liners, pins, etc), the pocketable size, and the exceptional walk and talk that I have discovered to be a hallmark of this pattern. Here the single blade version is paired with its brother with 2 blades.
