What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

My Alox Knife of the Week is a Vic Cadet 2 (thanks, Ken). Wish they'd go back to a pen blade in place of the file on the Cadet.

Stockman of the Week is a Case 6347 that Lance almost MADE me buy as part of a "package deal" for another knife I wanted; I had almost no interest in the stockman at the time, but obviously Lance knows me better than I do; splendid stockman!! :p

Great looking Case Stockman, Gary. Love the Petoskey stone carved bear - beautiful!

So my neighbor/friend rolls his eyes every time I show him a new knife. He doesn’t get the passion and logic to spend money on yet another knife. He usually pinches pennies until they scream for mercy on such “tomfoolery.”

Last week, I first explained the special qualities of my TC Ancient, and then placed it in his hand. He immediately “got it,” and said “I want one.” I warned him of what acquiring one might cost on the secondary. He didn’t care. He wanted one. Even expressed a rational for its’ utility. A utility that a box cutter would suffice. It doesn’t matter how old you are. A little child’s fascination and desire for such things reside in us all.

So here you go, my friend. Here’s Your Ancient.

What's your top church knife with the charismatic bone, Jeff?:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Congrats on the MAJOR flea market score, Harry!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool: Both knives look like they'll turn out to be beautiful!:cool::thumbsup:

Couple of masterful Monday work knives, Jeff!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

That top jack is a Voos, GT. It gets invited to church often partly because it’s capable at opening snacks, or in the monthly pot lucks, without being too threatening to the church ladies, but also because I tend to stick my hand in my pocket and hang on to it. That keeps me from checking my watch or looking at Blade Forums on my phone.:D

I ‘ll have to hook up with Old Engineer Old Engineer for one of those Wisconsin flea markets. If you’ve never seen Harry working over a vendor, it’s quite fun - always hawk eyed for a stray Cattarugoose! The sellers he scored from never knew what hit them.

Thanks for mentioning my working knives! I never take safe queens to work on the farm.
Well, if I had a safe queen, that is.

Seriously, I’m always leery of dropping an oldie an breaking an irreplaceable bone scale!

Some may call you an enabler, but I’d say you’re a good friend.

Such a comely knife, Dean!:thumbsup::thumbsup: I may take some measurements on this photo and try some "hand-scratting" on one of my MAMs this summer. ;)

Thanks for the Pruner props, Dean. :)

These three are always with me:

Thanks, Gary! Three primo knives you have there: Alox, SAK and Case.

Joseph Rodgers and Sons of Sheffield. The star and cross was the company's trademark. This is a "Her" as in Cutlers to Her Majesty, which refers to Queen Victoria. It has an England stamp so it was made after 1891. So this old Norfolk mother of pearl pattern was made between 1891-1901 at No. 6 Norfolk Street Sheffield England. It's a whopping 3 and 3/4ths " closed. I carry it quite a bit :D and it needs a mild cleaning up ...just enough to keep the rust at bay

Victorian era, pearl - you can't beat that, Gev! Beautiful knife.:thumbsup:

Today's carry at the Doctor's office about 2 hours ago.

Rare TC with beautiful well matched covers. My only two blade TC left, gave the other two blades away. With two "attaboy" coins still sealed in plastic from 1996 Space and Missile Competition Guardian Challenge.

Chief, that is a great looking knife and looks to have the perfect blade combination too!!

@Duckdog Nice examples of Case Chestnut Jigged Bone Stuart. Both are great patterns!

@5K Qs Thanks for the compliments! That 6347 is a fine Stockman my friend!

John that is an outstanding example. Just saying, if I was you, that sweet thing would not be going anywhere! You kept a jewel! :D

Seeet Barlow, Ron!
Thank you Sir! :)

Wow, a one-knife day is unusual for you, isn't it, Jack? But the gleaming surface of that lone knife allows the viewers of your photo to enjoy opposite horizons simultaneously, and that's certainly a treat!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:;)

...

Thanks, Jack. :) Those knives are the ONLY indication that I have a "green thumb".

:p My Hav-a-Tampa Jewels were as close as I got to cigars for 40+ years!
Whatever the actual age, that knife was top-shelf to this amateur!:thumbsup:

Sublime summer shot, Jack!! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

XX marks the spot!!:cool::thumbsup: Ron and George, those are superb examples of an appealing Barlow and a swell Whittler! ;):thumbsup:

Couple of masterful Monday work knives, Jeff!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Scrumptious bone and shiny steel, Steve!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Beautiful bone with joy-inducing jigging on that brace of Cases, Stuart!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Thanks for the kind words my friend :) I've been stuck at my PC writing since 9.00am, and it's 1.15am now! Figured one knife would suffice ;)

The only green thumbs I get are from verdigris! :D

Nice Stockman :)

This one to help ease the Monday blues...

Stunning Rodgers knives gents

The Chip Chop is a Gilpin made in Cannock in the county of Staffordshire. According to 'Grace's Guide' the company were trading from 1819 to 2014.

The smaller axe is a 'Staniforth Severquick', which although they've gone through various owners are apparently still producing tools in Sheffield or are at least headquartered there under the 'Spear and Jackson' name.

It occurred to me after I'd started that I should of done before and after shots. This is an old shot taken a year or two ago when I first found them in my dad's garage.

Cool to see those old axe-heads David, that Brades has taken a bit of a hammering! Good to see your Joker too :)

As for your second pic, what a fantastic combination! ;)
