What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I've been meaning to ask. Is "Dom" short for something?

I've asked that very same question and no one seemed to know if it was. I thought it'd be short for something as well, but as of yet, I haven't learned anything that verifies that.

Unless you didn't know about the Lion Steel Dom, which is a knife. Imagine the clip in my picture with a Sheepsfoot instead, that's the Dom.

It is my understanding that the different names of Mike's Lion Steel Euro Barlows are in reference to different chicken/gamefowl breeds.
  • Roundhead
  • Shuffler
  • Dom

Mike named Roundhead and Shuffler after cockfighting birds, I would guess the Dom is also.

For all I know that could be the right answer. It definitely lines up(I just googled "Dom gamefowl"). I know I specifically asked about the Dom in another thread, but no one really seemed to know. I've always thought it was a weird name, Roundhead and Shuffler I can understand, Dom though.. Haha. One thing I do know is that they're really great knives!

The mighty nut.

That is a gorgeous young Case. Thanks for sharing all of it.

Absolutely put my Bushboot though a stellar workout opening and cutting down HEAVY cardboard today, a simple session on the strop returned the A2 convex edge to scary sharp:thumbsup:

Paul, you and several others seem to have more cardboard reducing duties than I've experienced, but I know the satisfaction of holding a blade up to that task. Kudos to you and the Bushboot!

@lambertina That's a bodacious Buck.

Stuart, my wife and I have the privilege of owning a furniture store in the small town we have grown up in. Today we rec'd 11 cartons/boxes of end tables/bookcases etc...along with 6 recliners, it's more fun than work:D

Round House Overalls and with Jeans the SAK rides in a belt sheath.

That makes sense. My old Liberty "green tag" overalls can barely carry me, much less a peanut. I do have some pockety-pants from a trading company in Minnesota that do a good job of totin' my overly optimistic daily picks.

Thanks Jeff, that’s the one that sorta started this insane journey of accumulating more knives then I ever imagined.

I think that we all have one or two of those cherished pieces.

It was dark, and I was running late for work this morning. I quickly grabbed my Case Yellow Handled Stockman (so I thought). At work I pulled out my knife and 'lo and behold', I had grabbed my CRisner Indianhead by mistake. Certainly a pleasant surprise for a Monday morning:

It seems that you are blessed in more ways than one, Paul. Yep, that's work and your attitude is the path to "Serenity Now"!
