What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Good looking Viper! I have a Tidioute #47 Viper that looks exactly the same except the bone color (mine's "Bottle Glass Green"). I don't know that I've seen that one before. I like it!

That knife is all bolsters, JP! :D

I like the jigging on that #78!

Thanks, Barrett. :) Sweet 72; I'm glad you found an effective fix for the blade rap!:cool::thumbsup:

International Knife of the Week (could have been the lambsfoot, I suppose) is an Okapi Baby Sable:

Thanks, GT! It took me a second to figure out what that was in your Okapi photo. It's like a vintage FitBit! ;) :D

Last night we drove from Minnesota back home to Northwest Arkansas. We left at 9 pm, and arrived around 7 am. Eleanor, our two-year-old daughter, slept in her carseat for (almost) the entire drive, for which we were thankful (that part of the plan was a bit of a gamble, as we've never tried that before, or even driven more than an hour or two with her in the car). We came down for a long weekend so we could meet our first nephew, my wife's sister's first baby, who was born a little over a week ago. We'll also get to spend time with my family, and some of our friends here. I always enjoy coming back to Arkansas; like Dorothy says, there's no place like home. :D

Edited to add: Although it's somewhat obvious, I guess I should mention that the knife I was totin' today was the 2016 BF Drover. :D

Thanks! It is in a strange light. It is chestnut peach seed jigged bone.

. Love the dominoes! Those knives would look equally as good on a checker board (wooden checkers, of course).
Thanks they're an old set I found in a house we cleaned out. Wooden checkers would be cool but unfortunately I don't have a set. Although both my Dad and I have made them in in his woodshop. Using black walnut/poplar or black walnut/red cedar (my favorite)

Thanks Dave for the compliment on my elderberry. I really like your Clip 78, I gifted one just like that to a good friend:thumbsup:
Thanks, Paul :) I was a little surprised that there were a couple scratches on the blade, as it had been under wraps since the day I received it.
Must have been those darn leprechauns. :p

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY RON!!! Beautiful green gift (Churchill) too!

Can't post pics today, Imgur is not cooperating (hope it's not permanent) but today I'm totin a GEC 54 in burlap micarta.
Thanks! :)

Congratulations Ron!
Thanks Ken! :)

Beautiful knife. Congratulations to you guys!
Thanks Nick! :)

Congratulations! :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
Thank you! :)

Love the W^2 pair in the sunrise light, Ron!:thumbsup::cool:
Thanks GT! :)

A couple of splendid vintage knives!!:cool::thumbsup:

Thanks, John & Stuart! :)

Thanks for the canoe vote! :)
I know what your Remington of the Week is, and it's easy to see why!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks, Barrett. :) Sweet 72; I'm glad you found an effective fix for the blade rap!:cool::thumbsup:

Congrats on the striking stag, @Ratbert!

Always enjoy seeing your very useful lambsfoot TEW, Harry, but that brace of Bulldog Barlows with "Tobacco" bolsters is mind-blowing!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool: Comprehensive congrats on that outstanding purchase!:cool::thumbsup:

@LastRodeo doesn't get the credit he deserves for being a premier matchmaker between desired knives and folks on The Porch!! ;):thumbsup: How does he keep track of who likes what so he can just "cold call" someone and say, "Hey, I have something I think you'll like!"?

What a ravishing pair of red bone Cases, Leslie!!:cool::cool: Thanks for the kind words, but one of my "inspirational" Cases came from you, of course! ;):thumbsup::thumbsup:

IMHO, you're evolving into a very wise and discerning knife aficionado, @Vaporstang !!:thumbsup::D

Thanks, Jack. :) I hope the double lambsfoot day has some recuperative power for your back issues!:thumbsup: That 2018 horn you have has a very ethereal, maybe even spooky, look to it!:cool::cool:

Love the W^2 pair in the sunrise light, Ron!:thumbsup::cool:

I didn't know there would be homework in this thread!:p

;) Every other summer, I vow to learn Python, and I make some progress and then have no reason to use it. By the next summer I've forgotten most of what I learned. (Actually, Python reminds me syntactically of the BASIC I learned in 1970.)

Double groovy, man!! :cool::cool::thumbsup:;)

Thanks for endorsing my Cases and for the extra glamor shot of that exquisite Black Forest whittler with the top-shelf stag!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

You're a slave drover, Ken! ;):thumbsup::thumbsup:

The bolsters tip the scales for me in favor of that Kutmaster, Nick! ;):thumbsup:

Teaching is a rewarding profession, isn't it?? ;):thumbsup:

You've really got your Remington Scout rhythm going, Tom!:thumbsup::cool: No AC in St. Louis in August sounds less than ideal! :(

Thanks for the performance comparison, Gary!:cool::thumbsup:

Thanks for the in-depth double review!!:thumbsup::cool:

Your usual outstanding photo of sumptuous knives, Dylan!:cool::thumbsup:

Classic!! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Oh Python is great, I can only recommend it. The fact that everything(even numbers etc.) are instances of classes rather than "this is datatype integer 32" makes it really fast and flexible to program with (but at the same time is really annoying if you get cryptic error messages).
Yeah, finding something to program can be the hardest part in programming haha :D
Taking a quick look at my git history:
I did a few small excersises like creating a translator to get used to the basics and then started to look into plotting of nyquist plots because we had to do that alot in school and we used excel for it (which works but isn't exactly great).
I also recently did a small dice game you can play locally and then looked into networking.
Currently I'm working on a linear circuit analysis/simulator toolbox which has proven to be really interesting :D
I can only recommend looking into matplotlib(.pyplot), numpy and sympy (if you want to do math) and the tutorials of sentdex
In the end you can do basically everything you want (Machine Learning, Data Science, Math(analytical and numerics), UI Applications(e.g. Qt5),...) to do with Python. Alot of libraries are wrappers for C code and you get stellar speed with Python syntax.
If you're looking for a book to learn it with that will also introduce you to alot of topics of programming in general I can wholeheartedly recommend "Python 3" by Johannes Ernesti and Peter Kaiser, though I don't know if there's an english translation.
I also learn C# and did some C and GoogleAppScript/JavaScript but everything I do privately I do with Python.

Fantastic knives folks :) I'm having to race through this thread, otherwise I won't get a chance to post at all :(

Jack you keep posting those lambsfeet in stag and I’m going to have order one! Stunning!

Thank you, Jack. That is a wonderful Lambsfoot! :)

Thanks a lot guys :)

Today is my wedding anniversary! :D

Happy Anniversary to you and Pam Ron :)

My 2 grandsons are here today so my forum time is going to be
limited. I've got this trio with me.
I gave up on splitting, stacking and hauling cord word many years ago, which we burned in a wood stove and fireplace. Now there's 2 remotely controlled natural gas appliances, one log set and one gas stove, in their place. My back is much happier.

Hope you all have a great time Gary :)

Very nice my friend! :D ;) :)

Thank you, Jack, for the compliment, I certainly have you to thank for this beautiful knife.

Very nice additions to your lineup, that Stag is just wonderful.

I would have to agree, GEC did a very fine job on these 44s. I regret not reserving one in Stag but I did land one in Ebony and one in Cocobolo and though I haven't quite taken to the pattern yet, I am a patient man and will keep them stowed away until I am ready to give them a solid go.

Wonderful Stag on yours, quite a stunner.

Very nice Wednesday duo, Ron. That Osage has aged so wonderfully and of course, that Lambsfoot is always awesome.

A very Happy Anniversary to you and your wife, Ron! And what a knife to celebrate with! An exceptional choice, my friend.

I am a big fan of Ironwood myself, you have a terrific example right there.

What a gorgeous knife, Ted! Buffalo Horn, yes? I know GEC has had issues with that material in the past. I hope they can someday revisit it. I know it can be finicky but it sure does look awfully sharp when it's done right.

Now that Imgur appears to have resolved their uploading issues, I can provide a picture of what I decided to carry in my pockets today.

Thanks a lot pal, unfortunately, the recuperative power of the Double Lambsfoot Day was marred by lugging a heavy bag of Lambsfoot knives back from Sheffield! o_O Great knives there :)

Just had time to take a couple of pics on yesterday's newspaper! Hope everyone has a good Friday, and an excellent weekend :)

Alright, that does it. After a few years of just assuming I would find a nice used lambsfoot, I am going to put some actual effort into it. Great looking knife, Jack. Thanks for the inspiration.

By the way, I have a single cylinder version of the Royal Enfield in your picture. Maybe I’ll get one of the new twin cylinder versions down the road.

I have these two with me on the back porch this morning.
