What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I can't hold out any longer. I set this one aside and pondered, (we do ponder in ND):) if I should include this in my carry routine even though the answer to me was a resounding YES, I hesitated doing so. Well no longer, I carried today and it's modest cutting task consisted of freeing a frozen pizza from it's plastic wrap:eek::D

I do not understand the reason to Ponder on that for very long . If I ponder on that for any of mine , I put it in a slip and go . Like that YELLOW TC .

These today, some may look at that Klien, and think "Wonder why he didn't choose that neat old Queen?" .Well yesterday evening I handed it to my boss to look at while on the way to do an estimate on another job. Later once I was home and emptied my pockets I thought "Oh no! Where's the Queen!?" Then I remembered having handed it to her earlier so I knew at least its probably not lost. Then later today she stops to check in on a job side job we took on, I asked if she had it. Well she did, but here's the catch, that's when I learned "Oh, I only wanted you to see if you could clean it up for me, I don't have one like that" Part of me was bummed to have "lost" it so quickly, but another bigger part is happy she likes it and enjoys it:) It was meant to be, I had mentioned it had a weaker pull than I'd like, but she can pinch it open. Some knives she has trouble with. I'll have to see if I can borrow the case stockman I cleaned up for her for some pics to share here;)

Hey my friend, I took note of that Queen the other day when you posted it and thought "hey, I have one just like or similar" so I poked around and TADA!!! I just had it sitting next to me as I read your post...shoot me a pm with your address and I'll send it your way Monday...Hey, karma in, karma out:thumbsup:

This is for doing your boss a solid (my boy's say that and I always wanted to say it if the right occasion popped up);):p

Gary, we have a Case tomato knife that's at least forty five years old. Slices 'em thin. I bought a couple of sets of Case steak knives when I worked in a hardware store back in the 70's. They are about as nice as any I've used.
Jerry, I'm real happy with the Case kitchen knives I've picked up. Nothing fancy but they are well made, sharp, do the job and I like Case.

Agreed Gary, mire are nothing fancy (certainly not worthy for the hipster chefs), but are more than decent. Some of the steak "knives" I've used over the years wouldn't cut a roast cooked in a crock pot.

Dave, when my wife sends me to the grocery store with a bag of ground coffee on the list, she usually requests Tim Horton's decaf. ;)
It's a good coffee Gary, Tim Horton's is fairly new down your way is it not?

Thanks for the informative replies to my incessant questions, Dave. :) (5K Qs is my username because I came to BF with 5000 Questions; thanks for dealing with 3 of them!:cool::D)
Well... thank you for the mystery of your handle.:p Every time I saw 5K Qs I would be like?:confused:o_O now I'm at peace Ooommm. Maybe 20years ago I would have had the where with all, and solved it, but I doubt it. ;)

Nice big clip blade!
Did you find the kookaburra in that old gum tree out back?

Today I'm carrying an Enzo Necker

and my new Lick Creek, starting to show a little patina. I've been carrying it all week and I hope y'all aren't tired of seeing it.

I’m pretty sure that is a solid!
:thumbsup::)
Good folk hereabouts.

Love your FB Jeff

Thanks, Jack. :)
FWIW, Robt. Klaas markets 3 sizes of knives with a Brown Mule blade etch, made in Italy with "Solingen high carbon steel." That may be an improvement over the situation you described?
Good to see that you're on the straight and narrow, at least regarding the edges of the knives you carry! ;):thumbsup:

Cheers for the info GT :) It's some years back now, but Uncle Andi contacted Klaas on my behalf, and received a reply from a senior executive. They said that these knives were made under license, that they basically had little or nothing to do with them, and bluntly called the vendor a liar for referencing Solingen  Thank you my friend :)

Have a great weekend, folks!
A couple of Case's. One in the back pocket, one in the kitchen.

Very nice Gary :)

Thank you, Jack, I will certainly keep you in the loop. What a terrific assortment of knives for a hike! I particularly like the looks of that fixed blade. I hope you have a pleasant hike, Jack.

...

Well, I got something in the mail today and since I am experiencing some lovely weather and have a pile of chores to get to, I figured that this iconic knife belonged on my belt for the day. I am absolutely in love, hard to get more traditional than a Kephart.

Thank you Dylan, it's an Enzo Elver in D2 :) Congratulations on that beautiful Kephart, would love to know more about it
