What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I've been out of action since Sunday and gotten way behind on this thread. I had a minor outpatient procedure (think "frontal colonoscopy" with a camera and laser) yesterday to remove a 12 mm (think .47 cal. bullet) kidney stone (first and, hopefully, last). Today, I'm in pain management, so am a bit dopier than usual. I'll try to catch up on some complimentary comments on the recent fine postings soon. Today, this is about all I am totin' around the house: a Belknap Hardware barlow from 1968-1985.

I hope your recovery is quick and complete, Stuart! Great looking Barlow! Are you supposed to be playing with sharp objects when you are on pain meds!:D

@Duckdog, youch and get well soon. I must drink more vinegar.
Haha! St Patrick chased them from Ireland to England! ;)
Plenty of snakes around here, especially rattlers. They even have "roundups". Went camping with my wife and daughter a few years ago, and one came into our campground. I promptly crushed its head with my foot and disposed of it. Poisonous.

Do they taste like chicken?
We have only massassaugua rattlesnakes, which are thought to have killed only one grown-up who might have been a bit old. Rather endangered, I think. (Boo Hoo)

When I lived in Lebanon in the 70's, they didn't have any snake rhymes, just shot all of 'em on sight (snakes, and most other stuff really)! :D ;)
Were you ever portrayed on telly by Patrick McGoohan, Dangerman? (Be careful what you say-)

I've heard they taste like chicken. If I've eaten it, it was decades ago.
I think the rattlers around here are called diamondback. Not endangered unless they get near me.

My discomfort is very localized, but my pain management is widespread, running the gamut from weeping to Miss Norma when she asks me to do something to planning my pain pill ingestion around my cocktail consumption (a martini is a clear liquid) to avoid unpleasant interactions. I'm not a doctor, but I have played doctor many times in my fervent youth
Great post Stuart. :D You and Will. Posters extraordinaire.

Couldn't let Dwight, Will, and Charlie have all the fun ! Ettrick fun that is
It looks like a fine one Gev. I think they are one of the most pleasing patterns.

Gevonovich Gevonovich You got that right my friend;) A very nice Rosewood example too, really engaging pattern
+1

Rosewood....I wasn't sure :thumbsup: Snagged this one while you guys were not looking for cheap :p I love this thing ...I tell ya

Beautiful sawcut bone!

Regarding a kidney stone the size of a .45 hardball, wise choice in opting for surgical removal. Although if you'd passed it the old fashioned way, you'd know what childbirth feels like. Plus, you'd have been a BF legend.

Feel better soon, my friend.

Stuart, beautiful Barlow. I do believe that was made by Ulster, covered in their Meerschaum Bone. Here is hoping to a quick recovery for you. OH
Ps This is an old Ulster Barlow I own - look how similar they are.
