What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

One thing I've noticed about the 34OT is that the sheepsfoot is a large blade in comparison to the frame size. Lots of blade it is...

Ed, I could be mistaken, but I think the 34OT and my Schrade 834 have the same blade configuration and size. It has a 1.6875" sheepsfoot blade, which in my estimation is indeed a lot of blade for a secondary in a 3.3125" knife. And I like that!

Everytime I see this knife it stops me in my tracks. Would love to know a bit more about it :)

This knife, if I am not badly mistaken, was made here in USA in Gladstone, MI and is no longer in production. Wow! I wish it were; I'd have to have one. I'd buy one today if it were available and almost affordable.

Doug, what's the difference between the 834 and the 832? I'm not familiar with the 832.

The 34OT was probably Dad's favorite pattern; he used up several of them over the years. I love the edge you can get on that Schrade carbon steel. The sheepsfoot they used on it is super handy; I like it a lot and much of the time I use it instead of the main as the knife is more comfortable in the hand when using the sheepsfoot than when using the clip. Thanks for your photos.

i know i've said before, beautiful pic and gorgeous knife
but i was wondering, is this a safe queen or a carry knife for you?

It is a carry knife. I figure it is more useful in my pocket than in a box. ;)

I was just wondering the same thing! I swear I thought that knife was carbon steel, do you keep it polished?

Yep, 1095. I do keep it polished. About every Saturday I polish it to keep it from getting any blacks spots/patina. As much as a patina looks good on a knife, I want to keep this one looking new as long as possible.

Everytime I see this knife it stops me in my tracks. Would love to know a bit more about it :)

Sure thing. Made by Queen cutlery in the early 2000's for MSA MArbles (before they went Chinese). These knives are very hard to find now a days. I know Comoha has one or two. I had a heartattack when I found one at a local gunshow this past summer.

Ed, the 832 has a pen blade instead of spey, and the handles are propwood, not delrin.

On my two, the tang stamps are slightly different (832 is stamped on the other side of the clip blade).

Don't tell Carl I said this (and cover the ears of my peanut), but the 832 is almost certainly my favorite pocket knife.

Just off to meet my new grandaughter with a pre-war pearl-handled Wostenolm 'Firth Stainless' penknife, which I fortuitously picked up within minutes of hearing news of her birth, and which I'll post pics of later :)

I´m at home today... during the year I worked too long and those hours need to be out of my plan when New Year beginns... however...

at night we had - 16° C (3.2° F) and now, at half past eleven on noon it´s at icecold -8.5° C (16.7° F)

Duane´s 112 follows me today, next to Jack´s Richards Scout knife

It's getting harder and harder to find beautifully figured stag like you see on Kris' and the Halfrich knife I posted, Andi. Thanks for the good words.

Don Hanson was just commenting about that in the thread I posted about his stag slipjoint in the "Custom" forum yesterday. (And his knife that I posted up has some of the nicest stag as well.)

Today, I've got these: KHampton Swayback (from Kerry's VERY generous GAW a couple years ago), and my personalized Opinel No. 10.
I just love the bone on the Swayback. The color is deep, and the jigging is just rockin'! :D

Like Marthinus, I have a Case and a Victorinox with me today, but both of mine are smaller packages.

Chestnut bone Peanut, and red nylon Climber.
