What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

St. Louis pork steaks. First time I’ve made them and I’m pretty proud of myself. They were good

Been carrying this Viper for a little while now. It sat in a slip in a drawer for way too long. I love the rams horn covers, and the titanium bolsters really cut down the weight. It is slim, and rides exceptionally well in my RFP.

The N690 steel holds a great edge, and this knife has yet needed to be sharpened by me since acquiring it, the blade is ground nice and thin making it a great slicer.

The decorative work on the back spring and spine of the blade is perfectly executed, there is not a single snag point or uncomfortable sharp edge anywhere on this knife, excepting the blade. I think it's going to be in the pocket for a while, it deserves to see some use...

Went looking for a cheap tl-29 to recover and this one caught my eye. Never got the cheap one to recover just this classic. Think I may have a problem.
That is far from a problem! Start digging around on the web, and try to find out how many companies made those. Whether you attempt to collect them all is up to your wallet and your sanity.

You’ve come across a beauty. That old cocobolo is about as good as it gets.
You have a military contract knife. I don’t know how to date it besides the fact that steel liners indicate WWII production.

No, I'm afraid the old rosemary didn't recover. I'm pondering whether to plant the new one in the ground or move it to a large planter.
I wonder if I can do something with the trunk of the stem.

The Queen whittler is a sort of replacement too, for the small stockman that suffered a broken back. Good thing I had a couple more spare Queens.:thumbsup:

Just a thougjt, Rachell, take your pruner and cut it off just above the soil line. The top died off, but there’s a good chance that the crown/root stock will come back. Worth a try.

I guess that great minds think a like my friend . I just happen to have dropped a twin of your 38 in one of my pockets also with the English Whittler .
IMHO they both are very nice knives and some of best that GEC has done .

Edited to add : Like you , I do not see me parting with either one in my life time .

Very nice Harry, we both (along with many others) have a great appreciation for the 38's...I just remembered now that I never replied to your msg:oops: and I have not heard from our friend???

Thanks for the reply Paul . He has not posted for a while but I did see earlier this week that he was at least hitting the " LIKE " button . I tried sending him an E-Mail , but no response .

That’s pretty cool that you are the pole vault coach. I was a high jumper in high school and really enjoyed my time on the track team. I wish we had coaches for individual events.

I’m carrying this one again today because, why not?

Thanks, up until this year I was the head boys track coach. Because of COVID the girls basketball season was moved to spring at the same time as track. I had to choose between the two head coaching positions, I chose basketball, but stayed on as PV coach, it’s a lot of fun.

That looks great Jon, Memorial Day is just around the corner, you are from this area so you know you gotta have pork steaks on Memorial Day! :D Is that Maull’s barbecue sauce? If you can’t get “the Maull’s” down there, let me know and I’ll send you some!:D:D:D

That looks and sounds like a GREAT carry user, but I can sure understand holding off LOL. First scratch is the hardest.

Half hour or so after midnight and fresh into a brand new day ... Saturday WOooHOoo
And already EVERYTHING in this just taken picture is old OLD HA.
Some knives are too new, too expensive, too nice to use and some too old.
This old stag and steel I've decided will be a user. I enjoy it in the hand too much not to use.
As I slowly start to put an edge on this "letter opener". And once sharpened to fine edge,
I'll be on the look out for a sheath as an opportunity arises. Left handed of course.

It's got some pepper spots on the lock bar in the well from my corrosive nature ;) I don't have a clue what motivates one to carry a "wish list" knife, but when that happens, the knife ceases to be an object of art, and becomes an actual tool, always at the ready...
