What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Couple of classics

When I think of a ladies knife, this is what comes to mind. Great pair of old ladies knives.

Wait. I mean vintagey, antiquey ladies knives suitable for carry by a young lady 😁

Seriously, I wonder if Mrs Fleschwund would carry an elegant pearl pen knife. I’ve tried. I gave her a Vic Classic, which she wouldn’t carry because most of her pants don’t even have pockets!
So I braided up a little paracord fob and put it on her key ring. Too bulky:rolleyes:
As far as I know, it’s somewhere in the bin under the armrest in her Toyota. Underneath all the detritus and purse overflow “stuff”. Under the salad dressing packets swiped from Panera, probably.

The good side of that is I sometimes get to hear one of a husband’s favorite things to hear...”Honey, can I use your knife?”
Hahaha! 😂 Old "ladies knives", or "old lady's" knives?

I will point out, that pearl pen knives were also carried by some men. Watch fob knives or quill knives for office work, etc.

Well, for now, I'm off the Case Sod Buster Jr. kick but still have a couple/three to show on special occasions. Today I'm continuing the Sod Buster theme with this Case CV 4 5/8" Large Sod Buster with yellow composite covers. We're sticking close to home today with a trip for doctors appointment over in Lakeview, Or in the next couple of days.

Modoc ED Modoc ED , I've only ever owned Sod Buster Jr's. That full size Sod Buster looks like the blade tip is more pointy than on the Jr.
Is it noticeably more pointy or have you profiled the blade to be more pointy? ... or maybe it's an optical illusion LOL.

No, I haven't re-profiled the tip. I've never had a problem (meaning it doesn't bother me) with Case knife blade tips being dull/rounded. If I run across one that is, I simply give it a few strokes on a rod or stone. Sometimes, the tip of a blade in a picture may appear dull due to lighting, angle of the knife on the background, etc..

Modoc ED Modoc ED ... So, the blade tips on the Jr and full size are virtually the same? ... one not obviously more pointy than the other? Thanks ED !!!

To tell you the truth, I just don't pay attention to that kind of stuff. I've never been disappointed with the blade tip on any Case Sod Buster or Case Sod Buster Jr. I've received. To me, it's part of buying a new knife or used knife for that matter. Check it out and touch up the edges/tips as necessary. It's a great way to get acquainted with a new knife. I know a lot of people complain about such minor/mundane/has nothing to do with anything such issues but it gets pretty old when they keep whining and whining and whining and whining and whining and whining and whining and whining and whining and whining and whining and whining and whining and whining about it. And then they send their new knife with a perceived dull pointed blade back to the dealer/manufacture (probably sealing their packages with tears rather than a lick of the tongue) looking for a replacement when all they had to do was break out a rod or stone to sharpen up the tip they are whining about.

Thank Modoc ED Modoc ED !!! ... I wasn't asking about sharpness. Here's an example of what I was asking ... see how the blade tip is more pointy on the Plow than the more rounded tip on the Jr? ... I just wondered if the the blade tip on the full size Sod Buster was more pointy than the Jr or if both the full size and the Jr have the same rounded tip. Maybe blade tip TAPER is the word I should use rather than POINTY.

Excuse my whining... ;)
To me, it has nothing to do with blade sharpness or how pointy the tip is.
It has more to do with a Sodbusters point being too high and hidden behind the big belly of the blade... making it harder to get the tip into the cutting material.
I believe that's why people are mistaken when they ask if the large model has more of a point, rather they should ask if the large version has less belly.

Edit... See above pictures, the Maserin has less belly but the spine and tip are pretty much identical.

I see what you're talking about and don't see a problem. Some come with a pointier tip than others and it's not a problem for me. If you want the tip of the Case Sod Buster Jr. you have pictured alongside the Maserin to be as sharp as the Maserin, get out a rod or stone and rub, rub, rub, rub, rub.

Case Sod Buster Jr. blade tips and Case Sod Buster blade tips are a moot point for me.

Yep, exactly. I was asking if the blade belly was the same on the full size Sod Buster as the Jr
